Hi, this is Murphy (Guinness's brother). I'm writing this blog, because he's just to little to reach the computer....even when he's on the chair. We have a BIG problem. It's our Mom...she has something called OCD. We didn't know what was wrong with her until today when I did some "net surfing". Our Mom is really strange about a lot of things...but the thing with our toys is just out of control. She has this "basket" where she puts our toys. Now think about it, what good are toys when…

Simba is nearing 11 months and has certainly developed into quite the character. The oohs and ahhhs and he's so cute have finally gone to his head! Or have they? Anyway, we were doing relatively well leaving for work until about a week ago (aside from some post-move hiccups)...
Incident 1: our dog walker arrived to find that Simba (we know Whopper doesn't do such things), had taken both the pen and notebook that our dog walker uses to leave us notes. They were…

Someone up there is looking after us, because our appointment with the oncologist went about as well as it could, under the circumstances.
Everyone at the hospital was awesome to Penny (she is pretty charming, after all), and she had more hugs and kisses than she knew what to do with. These folks are definitely animal lovers.
The oncologist shoots straight (which I like) but still remains positive and loving - a rare combination. Penny just loved her from…

Peri can still decide to be destructive sometimes. I think this picture (although it is dark), sums up her thoughts pretty well. After a dinner night with friends last Saturday, we came home to DH's legal notes shredded up. Lucky for us (and Peri) she did not get into some bigtime case files he had boxed up in his office area (which is shared with the dog's playroom).
Sooo, even though they say puppy stage lasts until age 2, that doesn't mean you will have a mellow,…

My engineer DS suprised me on Mother's Day by coming home. But he had to fly to Houston that afternoon. So...would I keep Kona (the 6 month old, 60 lb Weimaraner) until he got back on Thursday night (for my graduation).
Did I mention he didn't bring a crate for Devil Dog? Murphy has a soft sided crate that she immediately ripped through. She spent yesterday at daycare but didn't seem tired at all when she got home. She devours her meals in about 30 seconds.
She…

We have had a lot of excitement on DK recently from Donna's post about Naked Doodles to Sharon's post about a Bare Husband and a Real Bear. This got me thinking about a naked story of my own. We are nearing the end of the school year for some kids and their parents. I love this time of year now that my girls are finished with school and our household is not in a mad frenzy to get last minute projects, papers, and finals completed. I had…

There is group discussion that Mom is really into. Caesar's Way or something. What about Roo's Way. I am excellent at training my people. I go for long periods being absolutely wonderful, no counter surfing, no exploring various curious things in the home. Soon Mom and Dad aren't as watchful. Mom put out a bowl of lovely crunchy dried stuff on a low table. I had not bothered it since it was put out. But today - today it was just calling my name. It is supposed to be looked at, its…

I had to take Biscuit in to the vet this morning to have her anal glands expressed (fun, fun, fun!) and while I was there, the biopsy results for Penny mast cell came in. Dr. Izumi came right into the room to see me. I knew it wasn't good news by the look on her face.
Penny has Grade 3 mast cell cancer - this is as bad as it gets. We don't know if or how far it has spread, and are heading to an oncologist tomorrow morning. I'm sure they'll do more tests to check for…

[I just had a lovely message from my Breeder telling me all about the puppies and how she is going to allocate them at 6 weeks. Photo's coming very soon she said. I told her I would blog the journey home and the early weeks and she is delighted about that].
Since it is Mother's Day in the US I thought I would tell you some stories about my eldest child Jessica who is now 30 years old. These memories are as clear now as when they happened. This is…

Took Riley to a indoor dog park (Fido's) yesterday that has a large pool. He dawned his life vest with a handle on the top of it. They had a few different doggie entry platforms and a exit dock. Well, as he does with everything he sat at pool edge and surveyed the situation. When I pushed him lightly and coaxed him to go in, he put his wheels in four wheel lock. Kept the pressure on and he was in. Of course, he made a bee line of the shortest route back to the pool edge. The…

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there! For the first year ever on this Mother's Day, I have a brand new son-in-law. I grew up with two sisters and had two daughters, so adding a son to the family has been fun. When my daughter got married last June, they wanted to know what my new SIL should call me. I didn't really like all the suggestions they were coming up with and I had to mention, more than once, to my DH that I did not want to be called mother anything and finally said I had…

If being a mother means putting your "child" first, giving the best you have to them and going without yourself. If it means you do for them even if you are tired, sick, run down, too busy or flat out exhausted. If it means when they are real little you take them potty every twenty minutes, if it means you celebrate each landmark they make, such as sit, stay, walk, heel, (or crawl, walk) whatever, If it means worrying over making the right decision, worrying about not worrying enough,…

As some of you might have heard already Benny was chosen to take part in the Dog Whisperer European Live Tour.
The show took place in Amsterdam and my boyfriend taped our "performance" with the Iphone as cameras were not allowed.
Sorry for the bad quality but the sound is alright so I won't write the whole story down but you can have a look yourselves.

Happy birthday to my favorite pup in the whole wide world! We are going to spend the day on a long walk, a trip to the pet store, cuddling, and lots of other fun for him. I can't believe he's already 2 years old, time really has flown!

Guinness has a whole ritual that he goes through in the morning. When the sun is coming in through the bedroom windows, he gets up on our bed for his morning nap. He has a "set way" he likes to have the pillows arranged, and he'll move them around until he gets them perfectly placed, so he's cozy and the sun is hitting him. It's really cute to watch this little procedure, and when he finished the other day and finally laid down for his "nap", I grabbed the camera. Murphy was happily…

I was excited for today - an entire day to just spend with Rooney & my DH - it doesn't happen often at our house. After our morning coffee we headed out with Roo for our usual morning walk, about 2.5 miles on a beautiful, paved hike/bike path through the FL marsh. I used to be afraid to do it with just Rooney and I but in the past 6 months have gotten over that. Yes - you keep your eye out for cougars - one was seen just last week, but the black bears and wild pigs have been removed. …
