Holy cow! I feel like I've been on a GD crash course with all the information found on this site! I'm almost finished with "The Art of Raising a Puppy" which is an excellent read, btw. I've finished two other quick read training manuals that were just so-so, but I pick up little gems from each one. It's all good.
So, I'm drafting up my plan of attack for when we go to pick up our new little guy. (Can you tell I'm a wee bit obsessed at this point?) We have to drive from Virginia Beach…

After much searching at shelters for a second dog to add to our family, we finally went to a doodle breeder, again.
Our 2 year old goldendoodle sunny is a DREAM, so sweet, smart, amazing with the kids, and hubby likes the not shedding part. well based on timing and price, we ended up with a blonde f1b labradoodle pup that hubby and son picked out. My daughter and I liked all the pups, but my son had an affinity for one, and he is not much of a dog person, so that was it! Well,....... puppy…

We looked out the window the other day and this is what we saw. Later in the day as, we watched, we saw Toby do it again. He just jumped up onto the table from the deck. If we can pass our obedience classes, perhaps agility training is next? :)

We are starting to get cold feet! Ella is such a perfect puppy - are we asking for trouble? We have twin boys (now 29), one is very quiet and was always obedient, the other was an exhausting child. The breeder says that Henry has no issues. It was hard not to compare the boys as they were growing up as they are so different. You love all your children but sometimes don't like them!! Zachary, despite being hyper, is much more sensitive and loving. Marshall , the quiet one, is so considerate and…

Dood! (hahaha) I can't believe that our new little man will be home with us in less than a week. It seems like it was JUST February, and I was wondering how my son was going to make it all the way until May (yeah, and maybe me, too). And now he's coming home next Saturday! All I can say is, it's pays to keep B. U. S. Y. Luckily I've had lots of that, between the rugrats, an influx of projects for work and getting ready for doing this puppy thang again. Amazing what you forget!
And…

We live in NJ. We left home at 130am Friday and arrived at Marissa & Seamus' home in Pittsburgh, daughter & SIL, at 830a. Went to their new home and worked all day. Got up Saturday and drove 2 hours to Edinboro for the Western PA RAW. Had dinner, watched a little TV and when we awoke Sunday morning, Seamus tells me he came down arond 2am, saw his sofa full of bodies and just HAD to take that picture. I just love it.
Notice how…

Bear got his first short haircut friday night. I was a nervous wreck. A month ago I took him into Petco to get his food when I was approached by a groomer. She asked what kind of Doodle he was and played with him for awhile. She told me she grooms about 30 Doodles and would love to be his groomer. I figured it wouldn't hurt to have someone who knew the breed well.
I looked over a ton of pictures online until I found just what I wanted. I brought it with me and she said it would be no…

Our friend's F1 labradoodle, Noulli, stayed with us this weekend and did great at wearing out my doggies =)
He had a difficult first night settling in his crate in our room--wanted to be touching Thule I think the entire time so he vocalized this for a long time. He's absolutely smitten with her and thinks she's there for his humping delight. She's gotten really good at telling him when she's had enough, but he's a...um...male, so you know how that goes! LOL
His first full day…

It was a blast this morning, getting together with some of the DoodleKisses friends right here in Arizona! What made the day so special was having Janet and Jess join us - you go, Jess! And Susan's husband Ron, who's just come through a kidney transplant. These guys are superheroes!
I'm putting a little video I created with my Flip camera - here are a couple of photos - Susan has some great ones.
We met several more Doodle owners while we were at the park - and told them…

Last Tuesday the golf course dog "Mary" came by twice to play with Ella and she had so much fun! When Mary left Ella looked so forelorn. That evening I emailed the breeder and asked if there was any chance they would let go of Henry, whom they had kept from the litter. They have decided to scale down their operation and were discussing if they could possibly let go of Henry! Soooooooo, I am meeting them in Northern ILL next Sunday and transfer Henry!! Down side is that he is not housebroken, but…

So we had Obedience class on Friday night. Class has been going very, very well.. In fact, the last two weeks, I would say Toby has been almost the star of the class. And then came Friday night. Our class was fuller than usual. We had three dogs doing a make up class, and were with us. It is a very big area, but still, that made 14 dogs and handlers, four floor instructions, a lead instructor, and a few spectators sitting across the end. With tasty treats in hand, I was prepared to excel once…

Or so it seems, anyway! Today I saw not one, not two, not three, but FOUR doodles in the span of 1 hour, and not all in the same place, either. I don't know if it's the same phenomenon as when you learn a new word and suddenly you see and hear it everywhere, or if the popularity of this breed is just rising dramatically, but I had never seen so many doodles in one day when it wasn't a planned event. Two were at Panera's outside with their family. SO sweet! The labradoodle I was petting was…

Hokie is now known on our cul de sac as "the Gentle Giant". Our neighbors have a new brindle Boxer puppy named Kaiser and Hokie is so good with him. It is so much fun to watch those 2 play. Its unbelievable how gentle our doodle is with that puppy. Kaiser can walk all over him, run under him, bite at his whiskers and tail and Hokie goes right along with it.

It is a small Goldendoodle world! Today my daughter bumped into an apricot Goldendoodle at Norfolk Academy's Field Day and she stopped and talked to the owner. Anybody on here that took their GD to Field Day today? Just thought I'd see if we could connect.

I'm calling Tidewater k9 trainer on Monday. I bought two sizes of Kongs, a small gentle leader, an Orka tuggie chewie thing, a squeaky Kong Wubba, and "the Art of training a puppy" by the Monks of New Skete. I need to get so much more that my…
