Needed to vent with my DK family - I just left my chihuahua at the vet for a dental cleaning. I know he isn't a Doodle, but he is a very important Doodle Brother to Lady Peri (who does not understand where he is at all!).
I got him when he was 9 months and already neutered, so I have NO IDEA how he is after being put under. I am having them do bloodwork before to make sure he can handle the anesthesia. But I am freaking out about this and broke down at the vet. They told me they were…

It's official! Penny now has her first nickname....Fuzzlump! Kinda rolls off the tongue doesn't it?..."Come on Fuzzlump!"
We seem to have reached some major milestones this last week....certain things have seemed to 'click' with her. She now goes to the door when she needs to go out, no accidents at all for days, takes the pressure of the constant vigilance looking for those tell-tale signs. She sometimes leaves it almost a bit late, as on occasion she hurls herself at the door, but…

Mommy is Baaaad, and this is a belated Birthday announcement for my Kona girl! It is so hard for me to believe that she turned two years old on July 3rd. I couldn' think of life without her, but it seems like she just got here not that long ago....... She is my hubby's little girl, Buddy's special friend and sister, and my little lovey cuddler. Such a sweet, but tough girl, HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY LITTLE CHUNKY MONKEY, BROWN BEAR, TOOTSIE ROLL, HOT…

I woke the other day and looked at Hershey and thought, "wow, he's getting big" I asked my husband, "Is it just me, or has Hershey gotten bigger over night?" No, I'm not imagining it....
When we brought Hershey home from the breeder, he was 6.8 lbs at 8 weeks. At 10 weeks back to the vet for more booster shots and he weighed in at 11.2 lbs. Hershey went to the vet today for his rabies shot and at 13 weeks he weighed in at 22.6 lbs! And his feet are HUGE! He has gotten tall and lanky,…

Thinking of getting another doodle. Samantha - obviously - is female. How do 2 females do together or should we consider getting a male?

This morning we met up with Anat and Sammy at the dog park. Sammy is a Mini Australian Labradoodle, about 20 lbs. and about 20 months old. We had a great time, It was a pleasure to meet Anat and Sammy is so-o- o adorable and has no problems keeping up with the bigger dogs. We have not been able to find any other doodle friends in the area that visit the dog parks, so this was real exciting for us (probably me more than Toby) to finally meet up and play with another doodle from Doodlekisses! I…

It has been a big week here at the Pan de Vida household. Our Riley had 9 babies- 3 blue merle, 3 black and 3 gold. Riley didn't want to appear partial to any particular color of puppy so she had 3 of each. All of them are doing well and Riley has adjusted to motherhood quite nicely. The pups are plumping up nicely and for a first time momma, Riley is just like an old pro.
Our rescued boy,…

Just thought I'd share this article I just read in this weeks Newsweek magazine.
By Suzanne Smalley | NEWSWEEK

From the magazine issue dated Jul 20, 2009
Bill Smith has dedicated his life to fighting "puppy mills," the warehouses where dogs are raised for profit in tiny cages, denied sufficient medical care, and often killed when they get sick or can no longer breed. Smith noticed that many of the farms around his shelter facility, near the…

This is a text message I got from Clark today:
When Rosco sits and wags his tail...his wiener wags too!
It continued:
Me: ROFLMAO...wagging wiener...Heeeeeeeeeeeheeee :-) That's a funny way of asking for lunch :-)
(me sneaking in a reminder to my hubby that it was past Rosco's lunch time in case he forgot).
Clark: "Please Daddy FEED ME! See?? My wiener is wagging...I'm hungry!"

He is such a joy!! Growing both physically and emotionally. He initiates real puppy play with Samantha. He no longer uses the step and mirror as his 'home base'! The submissive peeing is just an occaisional thing. He eats like a little pig and just LOVES to sneak and eat Samantha's big girl kibble. Getting him to take medicine had me crazy until tonight - he loves cooked ground beef - hopefully that will last.
Samantha has become his big sister, teacher and lifeline. Because of her he has…

Harlow was having a serious conversation with me concerning how DoodleKisses.com got its name. She being a curious young Doodle was contemplating why a website called Doodle Kisses didn’t show more pictures of Doodles kissing their people. I tried to patiently explain that there were probably lots of pictures on the site of Doodle expressing their affection for their people, but mom was still learning how to navigate the site. I also reminded her not everyone was keen on making tongue to skin…

Am I the only doodle owner who is kicked out of their own bed when it Thunders? Last Saturday night as my husband and I slept peacefully we were rocked out of our bed by the thunder of four paws and two children running down the hallway and leaping into our bed!!! Bailey took up the entire bottom part of our bed with his head under the covers, wish I had my camera charged, it was quite a site!!!

Kai has been with us for one month now. Things have changed around here! First there is the pool for his swimming pleasure. He is after all a California Doodle!
Where it was once Keith & Kathy at Starbuck's and walking on the Strand, Kai is now a regular in what people nicely call his Doggie Sling, really a front pack that keeps him away from other possibly non vaccinated dogs.
He has the potty bells down. :-)
He knows…

That evil gleam in Rosco's eye is
not merely a camera phone/lighting effect...that little gleam is there because he wasn't just being sweet and cuddly...he WANTED the bone Thule was blissfully enjoying but not quite brave enough to take it. But he sure looked cute =)

I just wanted to say thank you very much to everyone that sent me and my daughter their best wishes and sympathy as we deal with the loss of our Teddy.
This weekend was much better than last week. We were able to talk and share stories and laugh a lot this weekend about the goofy stuff he did. And there were even memories that I had forgotten!
We all decided that one of the best was when I was having some work done on the house the installers accidently let him out. It…

On 7/7/09 at 6:00 a.m. my 2 1/2 yr old male F2 Golden Doodle had a seizure. We heard him convulsing and ran out to the living room where he was on his left side, foaming at the mouth and had lost all control of his bowls. He was flailing terrible and it was the worse thing I had ever seen. Thankfully I was refered to this website by Sharon and Andy. I have gotten a lot of information from many Doodle owners and it is great, the only thing I have not found is anyone who was bitten by their dog…
