I decided to do a really quick blog to let my friends know about what has been going on since my very sad blog last week.
Peri's cold is getting much better. Her infection is gone, but she still sneezes some and the vet says the leaves falling are making many dogs have this symptom. She is on some good antihistamines and we are weaning her off of them now. She actually went to daycare today and is back to her usual self.
On another happy note, she graduated from her 2nd…

Holly graduated from Therapy Dog Prep School last night. I wanted to get a picture of Holly in a cap and gown but, she would have none of wearing those silly things. Boomer, her giant Goldendoodle classmate would not wear the cap either however, Izzy, Holly's Golden Retriever classmate looked elegant in his cap and gown.

I keep reading that dogs only live in the moment, and they really don't remember what's happened in the past. I've often wondered about that. Here's a video of a dog welcoming home his soldier "Dad" from Afghanistan. Certainly appropriate for the day after Veterns Day. Clearly, this dog remembered! This video brought tears to my eyes. Here's the link....

I’m baaaack!
I thank everyone for sending messages saying that you’re missing my blogs. Rest assured I haven’t given up on you, me or Penny. Coupled with the fact that she’s a little more grown up, and not discovering something new every day, and it’s now the rainy season here, there hasn’t been a lot to report, so it’s gonna be a few weeks between blogs from now on.
As I’m sure you all know, Seattle, Washington is rated as the city with the most rainfall in the US, and we…

May we all take some time today to say thank you to those who have served, are currently serving, or have family members currently serving. Additionally, may we take a moment to think of all of those (and their families) who have made the ultimate sacrifice!

Who knew that grooming can be fun? Not me. I always thought of grooming as work, like a chore. But recently Muppet has finally started accepting it and resisting it less, and in those times when he is cooperating, I actually find myself (to my own surprise!) kind of enjoying it a little. I notice that when he is relaxed, I am able to relax too. And when we're both relaxed, the physical touch can feel affectionate instead of like torture!
One of the things I enjoy in those moments…

First a little background on me...I had to have my dog Bailey put to sleep in November of 2006 (she wasn't a doodle, but another unusual mix - bassett hound/black lab). I loved Bailey and to this day have guilt about having her euthanized (even though my logical brain knows it was the best/only decision to be made). I wasn't ready to even think about getting another dog for a long time. In 2008 I was terribly sick for months, eventually getting a tentative diagnosis of Crohn's Disease. Once I…

I can't believe how beautiful the weather is considering we had snow a couple of days ago. I have been at the dog park every day. I took my camera today to try & get some good photos. It seems like the only ones I could get were the dogs coming or going, but mostly going. I have enough pictures of their rear ends for now. Not that their rear ends aren't cute but I'd like to see their faces too.…

I am exhausted! E-X-H-A-U-S-T-E-D! Ever since we came home from our honeymoon Remington has been a barking monster (only at night). I don't know why this has all of a sudden developed as he would sleep completely through the nights before without fail, but it's currently taking a toll on me....
Most nights we go to bed right after Dan leaves for work which is around 10ish on week nights. Remington always jumps up on the bed with me and goes right to sleep... lately though about 12 at…

Guinness goes to Doggie Daycare once a week. He loves it. Now he knows where he is as we pull into the driveway and his whole "bum" shakes (tail wagging like crazy) because he's so excited. When I pick him up they always give me a "report" about how his day went....sort of like when you pick up your kids from daycare. It's pretty funny, but they take it all seriously. Usually I hear things like "he had such a great time and ran and played so well with the other dogs". Not today. I knew from the…

So...today, it was 70 degrees!! Wow, it was beautiful! Unfortunately, I had to work today from 10 am to 4 pm. I call it "Boring Town" because right now, the camp is closed and I have to FIND work to do. Or, I search around on the internet a little. I do a lot of paper work during this time....catching up on all the files.
At 12:30 pm, Jerome came in to the office so I could go and feed Samson lunch and have him do his business. Uh oh, yes, I work with my husband. It works out well,…

Halas and I did our first Rally Obedience trial this weekend. We got a 94 on Saturday, and a 93 on Sunday. So that's 2 qualifying scores. One more and we get a title! It was pretty fun. The people in our obedience club are really supportive, so that just makes it more fun, with most of the people from our rally class participating in the trial. We redid one exercise in each trial, so that cost us 3 points each time. And then we just had a couple of minor errors that knocked off a few more…

We had a fantastic weekend! After a couple of sniffs - it was GAME ON! They began to play immediately. They didn't stop for about 45 minutes. It was like a war of wills between the two of them. Neither one of them wanted to be the first to give up, typical sibling rivalry. lol They were completely exhausted - I don't think I have ever seen Fozzy so pooped!
We just love Murphy to bits! He is a gentle giant! A lot more mellow than…

Abel is growing like a weed. He must be close between 40-50 pounds right now. For the most part he is a good dog. The things we need to work on include:
* Heeling.
* Not moochin.
* Not jumping up when he gets excited.
* Not piddling when he gets excited to see the neighbour or my sister.
* Not to steel socks!!
Well now he doesn't sound so good but he really is!!! I am planning to take him to obediance classes soon. Has anyone ever been? Will they help with… Continue

I'm new to this site and I'm new to this breed, the Labradoodle. My journey into this world began a few months ago, after my Chocolate Lab, Odie passed away from diabetes. We had him from a puppy and he was 12 years old. It was my first dog that I had to put to sleep. I went, thinking nothing. The experience hit me like a ton of bricks. I cried my eyes out and to this day, when I think about it, I get upset. I never knew it could be so traumatic. Needless to say, I was NOT going to get another…

Well, I had to do it. I had to shave her down to nothing. I'm hoping this was from losing her puppy coat, and won't happen again! Abby is absolutely loving this new look - she is full of zoomies, and is happy as a little lark, and I just have to laugh. She is so sweet, and was so patient with me while I was doing all this. My hubby is hunting this week and will be home Sunday - he is going to totally flip when he sees his girl! She went from calendar girl one day to this the next day!! LOLOL I…

Hello!
I have my wonderful Brody, 9 month 451bs, and he is pretty much white. His mouth and backside are stained and I really would love to do a little something about it. Anyone have any tips?
Thanks!

Thanks for the compliment! As you can imagine the hat did not stay on very long but she's usually a good sport for a while.
