Zane and the filly

I have been taking Zane to the stables and he was so shy at first. The secret was letting him play with the month old filly. She is so inquisitive and friendly and they became fast friends. He looks forward to going and waits for me as I stumble out the door at 6am. Tebow, my sister-in-law's Doodle has started going too and he practically does back flips to get the filly's attention. I'll have to get a video clip. It is just so fun to see how the dogs and horses get along so well together.

An Update and MANY thanks!!!!

First of all...thank you to all the sweet, kind, well wishes for Ali this past Friday!!!

I picked Ali up at 4:30pm on Friday afternoon.

The vet- a new vet I JUST started going to- was amazing!! He is sooo friendly, he brought Ali out to me and seriously stood and talked to me for half an hour, just going over different things...he is def. a sweet vet that loves his job.

I thought it was funny, they actually saved Ali's teeth for me :-) I didn't want them, but I did look at… Continue

How to Lose Weight and Look Good in Shorts!! A Must Read for Dog Walkers!

As promised, I have been giving a lot of thought to this blog. Summer for me means I have to pull out last years shorts and make sure they still fit. It is always a crap shoot and could go either way. For years, I have been saying the extra pounds are due to the baby weight I put on when I was pregnant, but my baby is 25 now and people are starting to question that theory.  All last year, I promised myself I would lose weight for my DD’s wedding, but I was also keeping my stress…

Tomorrow is going to be the hardest day of my life... need encouragement..

Someone told me yesterday that it was going to be the first day of the rest of my life...... yesterday was the day my beloved dad passed away.  He was 74 years old and I wanted him for 74 more.  I didn't get what I wanted.  I was very close to my dad, I am an only child and the picture of a daddy's girl.  I still can't wrap my mind around not being able to talk to him and hear his voice.

Tomorrow are his calling hours and Tuesday is his funeral.  In a strange way I can't…

OMD ... HUFF HAD A TICK!

We were blow drying/ brushing Huff after his bath and we found a ... TICK!  It was on his elbow. It was a little weird looking-kind of like a spider. It was actually attached this time. It was pretty big and gross.

Too Much Excitment For One Doodle

This is Achilles, I am writing to complain. The world is not revolving around me right now and I am displeased. Oh I know this is all happy stuff, I can feel it in the air but come on who is the most important one? Me Right? Started in May with My oldest brother graduating from college.Everyone was running around, Mom was yelling for everyone to hurry up.  No one was home all day!!!. My aunt had to come and let me out. Then the middle brother had showcases at his acting school, not one day (…

So Proud of My Boy!

My puppy sitter (and Lach's honorary aunty Cindi) invited Lachlan and I to attend the local kennel club fun match and potluck yesterday, so with some misgivings I cleaned the pup up and hauled him to the park. Gotta admit I was imagining lots of "Hi, this is my pogo-stick ...ermmm ... puppy", but decided that it would be worth it for getting him out and surrounded by other dogs, people, and general chaos.

Lach's just turned 6 months and in the middle of the "I'm a daft…

Bringing Zoe home...

Judy and I picked up Chloe from Katie at the Hesperia, California (High Desert above San Bernardino) Shelter today.  Katie, who works at the shelter, had brought Chloe home after she was dumped at the shelter with her undernourished siblings who unfortunately did not survive.  Anyway, Katie nursed Chloe and our new foster weighs 8.2 pounds at 10 weeks.  She needs to put on some weight but, we will take care of that.

We switched her name to Zoe since it became confusing…

Portrait of Halas

I'm picking up this painting of Halas tomorrow at our doodle romp.  I think it looks great.  I can't wait to see it in person.

Here is the painter's info.  She said she would love to paint more doodles.

The Top 10 Things I Have Learned From Stuart

10.  That "Rescue" doesn't mean cheap.  Between a very high adoption fee and his vet bills - we have $1,000 dollar puppy with no known medical history.  Never thought I'd say it but I'm getting insurance on this little guy.

9.    That puppy mills are very evil…

It is Too Hot for Laurie, Fudge, and Vern!!!

I hate to be one of those old people who complain about the weather, but I am very sad to report that I am one of those people.  I can’t stand this heat and finally, I have two family members that agree wholeheartedly with me…Fudge and Vern. Frankly, I will take snow and ice over this weather. Today, our temperatures were over 100 degrees and I had to take drastic measures and find some shorts to wear. God knows Vern is afraid of everything and I was worried that one look at my…

It's our Birthday today!

One advantage to adopting a doodle is we get to pick their birthdate.  We had an estimate of when Clifford was born, which made his birthday sometime in June.  Since my birthday is also in June I couldn't think of a better way to celebrate than to ask Clifford to share my birthday.  While I'm more experienced, he's cuter and younger so we are sure to have a great day.  Clifford started his second birthday with a serenade from me (he may have thought of this as punishment but he tolerated…

A smidgen of fear

Our little guy (small 7lb brussel griffon) went for a yearly checkup this past Saturday.

I've been trying to keep from dwelling on the fact that...tomorrow he is scheduled to go back for his dental cleaning.

UGH!! I was just stressing about Molly getting spayed...now I'm worried about little man and his dental cleaning. They said they will do blood work before they put him under and that it shouldn't take too long. They are sending me home with pain meds though, because they said they… Continue

They Are Listening!

I knew when my children were small that their little ears picked up all sorts of things that DH and I said.  This morning I learned how my little Dood is listening, as well.  She has a lot of fun watching and barking at little critters she sees on our tv in the family room.  Doggies and kitties are her personal favorites, and she will race to the tv and stand on her back legs while wagging her tail and growling!  So, dh and I laugh and talk about how Brulee wants to play with the doggie on…

Some more rescue news...

Judy and I are expecting to foster a female doodle puppy from the shelter in Hesperia, California.  We are looking forward to having this darling dog stay with us.  We know that Holly will enjoy having a doodle puppy around the house as she loves the Maltese puppies.

BTW, Judy has just been elected as National Co-Chairperson of the American…
