Skye is an 11-month old, 32-pound, mini-doodle. Zoe is a 12-week old, 10-pound doodle puppy. We are fostering both of these dogs.
Here is a video of the two doodles playing. Skye was relinquished by his owner of one month because she felt that he played "too rough" with her small dog.

My family just returned from our 1st Annual Outer Banks vacation last night. We had such a great time. We stayed in a pet friendly house/area on Corova Beach. We saw a couple of doodles and of course I had to stop and say hello. Each person that I spoke with said "this is the best dog I have ever had"! I spoke with one doodle mom about her doodle and her small children (one being autistic) and she is just so happy with her doodle (6 mos).…

My sister threatened to take away my first born if he were a girl, simply saying that I can't fix hair, can't tie a proper bow, know nothing about manicures or pedicures, fashion or ballet. I had to admit that all of that was true. I prefer to do my shopping from catalogues like LLBean, Orvis or Lands End, think short hair is much more time efficient, love football, think that it is more important to know how to throw a proper curve ball and bait a hook than do ballet. It is very difficult…

Lately, I have been looking at the pictures of the Doodles in Need of Homes from the DRC and IDOG on the front page of DK. From time to time, I see a dog I fall in love with, but I know in my heart that two is my limit. Yet, I can’t help thinking about the luck of the draw. I think it when I drive by my neighbor’s house and see four beautiful dogs chained up outside 24 hours a day, seven days a week. I think it when I read the sad rescue stories; see the…

This leash is great when walking two dogs, especially two doodle size dogs. I can adjust the leash ends so obe side is longer than the other. This is handy since Holly is considerably talller than Sophie. I can also adjust the leash so the dogs can walk a couple of feet apart or closer together which might be handy for navigating in crowds with a pair of dogs.

I think it was my very first blog post when I mentioned I wanted to add a "dog tub" to the house 'cause I really don't fancy bending over my own tub for half an hour each time I wanna wash His Majesty the Fluff. My old back can't take that. Anyway, it's finally done ... and we're both (yes, both, he looooves baths and had to show it off to his Auntie Cindi by trying to jump up into it) delighted with it! Thought I'd share in case anyone is curious or looking for ideas.
This…

So some of you might remember I mentioned last year that i met a guy at the dog park (he has 2 german shorthaired pointers) and I thought that he might be THE ONE! Well not only did it not work out the way I wanted but I recently discovered a lot about what's happened in the last year that I didn't know before. Let's just say he met someone else within days of me and the "other girl" seems to have won. (although i guess he thought he could try us out at the same time. She can have him since…

It started off as a quiet Saturday morning. A beautiful sunny day, gentle wind blowing to keep us cool. We took a leisurly stroll along the tree lined canal, and then off we went to the local coffee shop off the main street near our place. I put down my coffee next to my book and purse on the patio table, and then bent down to tether a very happy Sophie Bear to to the table leg. I unclipped her, holding her collar loosely with one finger figuring she would NEVER run away on me, and turned my…

Penny continues to do well and, depending on which day she is in her “chemo cycle,” she can feel great or wiped out. She’s on the combination of chemo (vinblastine), Palladia, and steroids.
On her fourth weekly visit, her blood cell count was dramatically decreased…

Since no one appropriate has applied to adopt him, Finnegan is still enjoying his time with Murphy, me and Blair
Witch Cat, who does very well with him. Finn has figured out that she doesn't have claws so he just takes the nose boxing and keeps coming.
The back deck now has stairs so our lives are much easier. Finn still has a few accidents in the house (on Murphy's bed unfortunately) but as long as he goes out frequently enough, he does great.
He is now 14 lbs and ~10-11…

This summer my husband and I have three weddings to attend; his cousin, his brother, and my best friend are all getting married. All this wedding stuff this summer has me so fondly remembering mine. It was only 9 months ago, but it seems like forever. I had an amazing time planning mine. I loved pretty much every second of it, both the planning and the wedding. It came together like a dream. Now I'm sad its over.
His cousin is getting married this weekend, so I went…

So, this has been happening periodically, but now it is a daily occurance.
Peri sleeps on her bed at the foot of our bed on the floor. She loves her bed and curls up on it as soon as we turn out the lights for bedtime (or if we start reading in bed). About 6 months ago, she would start waking up before our alarm went off - when the sun came up really. She would then pace around and jump up on the bed, which was fine with us so we could sleep in a little…

Yesterday I took Indy to one of the many dog parks in Austin (this one is right on the lake) and when he got wet I noticed a rather large hairless spot on his shoulder. I had missed it before because his other fur covered it up! That was kind of alarming but when I asked my coworkers at the grooming place, they didn't seem too concerned. I did a little DK searching but didn't find too much on bald spots. Indy slept pretty much all of yesterday and didn't eat very much but all together it…

Lily came home yesterday! She is so sweet. So far, she is really laid back and easy going, but also curious and confident. Potty training has been great- no accidents as of yet. When Hudson arrived as a puppy it was December, so I'm really liking the fact that going out every 20-30 minutes isn't quite as painful or as difficult (minus all of the winter gear). She slept in her crate last night from 12-7:30 without a whimper. I was surprised (but happy) about that. Hudson isn't so thrilled…

My poor DH had to rush Hartley to the vet today while I was at work. We had some contractors removing old, bat poop infested insulation from our attic. They were wearing gloves and when they were done just took them off and dropped them on the ground. Hartley gave in to his Lab. genes and thought they looked pretty tasty. My DH caught him as he was…
