Paz and I attended the NYC Annual Crime Victims Vigil on April 19, 2015, where Paz provided his magical four legged support to victims and their families attending the vigil. There were approximately 500 people, many of whom had been victims of violent crimes, including sexual assault; also in attendance were family members of individuals who had been murdered. Needless to say, it was a very emotional event, and Paz's presence had been requested to assist some of the victims attending the…

I wanted a seat belt restraint for my back seat and found this one from Sears at $31.75...

Many of you might know Carol and Banjo on DoodleKisses, but what you might not know is she is a master of bird photography. Recently on Facebook, she posted a series of shots with birds, quite literally, eating out of her hands. She had no assistant helping her, but was able to hold the camera all by herself and get some great shots. Well, this got me thinking that if Carol could take such awesome one-handed shots, imagine the masterpieces I could shoot if I had one or two assistants. I…

Yesterday we took Ruby for her first haircut. She had so much long fluffy puppy hair on top of beautiful fleecy waves underneath. The fur on her lower legs and between the toes were picking up so many burrs and sticks. I comb her every few days, not her favorite activity but she is getting better. We saw a beautifully trimmed little black fleecy doodle of some sort at the dog park and got the name of Erin at PetSmart.
Erin warned us that most puppies won't stand for full…

Last night on our nightly trek outside, Vern spooked me. I had lots of company over the Easter holiday week, including our grandson, and his little portable crib is still up. No big deal, right?....unless, of course, my very large dog keeps stopping at night to look in the crib. I wouldn’t care that he stops, despite the fact that I have rear-ended him once or twice, but he gets so excited as he looks into the empty crib and wags his tail and carries on like he sees something that I don’t.…

Over the past several month, during pretrial proceedings, Paz has been providing support to a young kidnapping victim who is only able to assist prosecutors when Paz is with her. The trial is commencing next week, and the Kings County (New York) Supreme Court has granted permission for Paz to accompany the victim into the courthouse, and remain with her in a room adjacent to the courtroom; whereas he cannot accompany her into the courtroom, he will be waiting for her when she is done…

Lunar played Sandy in the play Annie at a special needs school and he was terrific! During the rehearsals it was a little hectic because most of the kids go off of hand ques and I taught Lunar most of his 'tricks' using hand gestures. Poor boy was looking all over the place not really understanding what was being asked of him. But with practice and patience he settled in and the show went off with out a hitch. The kids did awesome, and Lunar was the hit of the show :)

Ruby. Is a muppet. Really, she looks exactly like one. She is a great puppy. At five months though we are refining some of her behaviors, for example, she never jumps on strangers, just sits down sweetly near or on their feet and looks at them sweetly. But at home, in her excitement to tell us something [yes, she talks, though so far her French and Spanish skills are lacking, English is fine].
The problem? She is so darn cute. Like I said, she looks exactly like a muppet.…

We took Quincy for his first Agility Class! I figured he would love it since he can scale a fence from a standing position and amused himself all winter jumping over the huge snow mounds at the top of our driveway. The back of the house was completely walled off with snow mounds, and I was wondering how he was getting to the front drive-then I saw his leap over and realized he was not scrambling up and over, he was flying up and over!
So, off to indoor class we went. My DH is a…

I had an epiphany last night. It happened last night around 3 am, while I was waiting for Vern to go number two. Now, first of all, before I start hearing that no one can believe I still get up in the middle of the night with a five-year-old dog, all I can say is if I wasn’t up at this hour, I would never have had my epiphany. I also can’t help that Vern has trained his bowels to coincide with my REM sleep. Telling him to hold it until morning, when I know he always produces healthy…

Guinness is six!!!! He's the little guy who brought me here to DK where I've made so many amazing friends. He has brought us so much love and joy, and I'm so grateful to his breeder who was committed to producing Doodles with great temperaments. We met his Mom who was the "family dog" and were able to talk to the owners of the Dad who worked as a therapy dog with the owner who was a Psychiatrist in Boston. The puppies lived right in the house and were well socialized with children. When…

Dear Jack
This past year of your life was your mom's best personal victory ever… For anyone interested you can read more story of how I went from Hospice to much better health and watch the news reports here.

I haven’t felt like doing too much lately and I blame it all on the cold temperatures. Usually the cold doesn’t bother me all that much, but this year I find myself wishing that Spring would hurry up and get here. How cold is it, you might ask, which has me racking my head for a great How cold is it? joke. The best I can come up with is…it is so cold that the other day when I bent over, John asked me if I knew I had two long, pointy icicles hanging from my body. Of course,…

I know. You refuse to admit it because it would damage your reputation if you did. But you’ve missed me, haven’t you? I’ve missed you, too, although I've honestly missed your adulation more.
Don’t blame me for my absence on this blog. It’s human mom’s fault. She’s been too busy crafting elaborate essays that leave no time for me to make my own artistic contributions to this website. It’s a travesty.
But I’ve finally commandeered the site and boy, do I have a lot to catch you up…

Please let your friends know about this commercial on the Academy Awards as so many people record shows to avoid the commercials. This little dog, probably Maltese/Terrier mix was rescued from the Devore Shelter in San Bernardino. This is definitely a high kill shelter.

This is a heartwarming story and hopefully will gain interest for rescue dogs...
BTW: The Westminster Kennel Club forced Purina to…

Sidenote: Hmmm...so...I don't know if people do this, or your aloud... but my original plan when writing The First Year was to make it a series where an update on how my Goldendoodle is doing will pop up in the Blogs section once in awhile.
So, how do I start this off...I have more pictures! Yeah!
Sorry for bad quality. Anyways,…
