YES, I am crazy...14 dogs in the house!!!

OK--so you all know that I am crazy--doodle crazy that is---and now I am proving it. I agreed to take a litter from the breeder that I work for for their last two weeks--and their momma too of course--and it is a litter of TEN!!! We had two litters of ten in November--very weird! So, the poor woman needed some help!

These are all black beauties from an F1 mom and a mini-poodle dad...what a chaotic Christmas we shall have! The families all come to meet them this weekend and then on…

Fudge Did It!!

I am married to a “pass the buck” man and I don’t mean a man who is passing out money.  When the kids were little, he thought nothing of throwing them under the bus if it meant he could stay out of trouble.  I could walk into the kitchen and find him eating a peanut butter sandwich with peanut butter on every drawer knob and him holding the knife and he would still try and say it was the kids who did it. I have long told him he would never be successful as a criminal because the evidence he…

My Holly Is Sure Powerful

Although Holly only weighs in at about 55 pounds, she is a very powerful dog!  Last night I had Holly on a flexi-lead to go on her night time potty.  I had her on the lead because it has been raining and I didn't want her paws to get muddy.

Somehow she tangled her lead with a plastic hose-mobile. And started to drag it.  Hearing the noise of the dragging hose cart, I turned around to see what was making the noise.  At that time the cart fell over with a loud noise which scared…

Mr. May 2015

I entered Toby in the doodles calendar contest. While of course as his mom I think he is super handsome, I had to convince others of his good looks and charm that would go beyond the camera. Well, after about fifty shots with my trusty Nikon, I was able to get a shot that landed in the calendar. He is one of the many gorgeous dogs that where featured in the 2015 Doodles cakendar. I can well imagine it must have been hard to decide - beautiful dogs - beautiful photos. Guess what some loved ones… Continue

Flying Saucer Puppy Dish

I was surprised that several of our volunteers had never heard of a "Flying Saucer Dish" so I thought I'd post a picture of one.  It is great for a group of puppies because it keeps the food out around the rim.  I could not find one at Petco so I purchased it online at Revival...…

My Confessions….

Hello, I’ve been a member of this site for awhile, mostly lurking, learning a lot, and enjoying the stories and pictures of everyone’s doodles, but I have some confessions to make……

Confession #1…I am not a dog person.  I grew up with cats my whole life and as an adult pretty much always had at least one.  With a few exceptions dogs were smelly, drooling, creatures who were either yappy or scary or both.  Probably because the only dogs I was really exposed to were toy poodles…

Please Provide For Your Pet

None of us want to think about dying.  We hate it so much that we don't even want to use that term.  We call it "passing" or some other euphemism.  However, there are few guarantees in the world but, one guarantee is that we will all die eventually!

What happens to our beloved pets who outlive us?  We need to make arrangements for their care and happiness before we die!  It is traumatic enough for a pet to lose its beloved owner but, it is doubly traumatic for a house pet to…

Happy First Birthday Puppy Prodigy "Reese Abel Me Bentley"!

How far he has come .... He can open doors, turn on and off light switches, bring me things, potty on command, walk well on his lead, sit, stay, down, come ....poke me for everything he wants. Lol!   ... swim for fun ... get in to the tub when asked ... get onto his grooming table when asked ... carry his own leash to the door .... and the list goes on of all the little things ... He has the Poodle intelligence I was searching for and the Bigness of the Lab I…

Sad news to share

I know I've not been very active on this site.  I'm sorry to have to share bad news, now. Brady (aka Foofie) has been diagnosed with lymphosarcoma. The vet said we had two choices.  Chemo to extend his life for 12 months, or prednisone to help him feel better for three months.  We opted for prednisone. I want his last months to be happy and will not extend his life just to have him around for another few months. The prednisone is working well, so far.  His appetite is back and he has his…

Protection for you and your home

This was posted on a neighborhood website.  I have used wasp spray for wasps and I can affirm that it is accurate and can shoot a distance.

"Here's a more humane way to wreck someone's evil plans for you:  WASP SPRAY.

A receptionist in a church in a high risk area was concerned about someone coming into the office on Monday to rob…

Playing Possum!

Another week has almost gone by and another trip to Indiana for me.  This time I had to drive my aunt home from Thanksgiving and my good friend, Rose, agreed to go with me.  I need to start off by saying everyone needs a friend like Rose.  Twice she has made these long trips with me to keep me company and the time flies when we travel together and the ten-hour trip goes by in a flash.  I am so used to one word answers when I travel with John, that sometimes I find myself saying, “really,…

Happy Holidays from Jack and his Mommy

Hi,

I know I seldom post on here but I read on here often.   This past year, 2014 was both the most trying, difficult, defeating and almost life ending and at the same time the best, best year of my entire life.

I have spent the past year with a trach in my neck  hooked up to a vent breathing machine because I had a very rare airway disease called Tracheabronchial Malacia, I had 100 percent collapse of my airway, I was able to get air into my lungs but not…

Our First Grandbaby is finally here!!!

We were blessed this Thanksgiving with our first Grandson!  He is only three days old in these pictures and so handsome already (yes, I am biased) :)  I think everyone but their dogs were happy, happy, happy.  They have been somewhat restricted to certain rooms right now.…

Elmo

Had to say good-bye to Elmo this week. He'd been sick since last summer, and we just couldn't get his meds right. Or, rather, his system just wasn't happy on meds. Eddie and I are just hanging out today. Eddie is loving getting ALL the attention, and I'm still expecting Elmo to come bounding into the room. Not fun.

Grateful, Grateful, Grateful

It is easy to be to grateful about the excitement of a new puppy.

This year with its extremes of sadness and joy, I’m grateful for love, friends and the community to share it with.

January brought us the sudden, unexpected death of my mother-in-law. A reeling shock that spun the year into a wild and unpredictable trajectory.

After the blur of the funeral, the immediate need was care for my father-in-law, a small town doctor who did…

Thanksgiving and long reach of a labradoodle puppy.

I worry because Kate has discovered she can reach the counter and steel the dachshunds food, or look on the stove to see what popcorn is, and reach in the sink to drink the water that is defrosting the (plastic wrapped) turkey.

HELP!!!  She is actually pretty compliant but when the owner is away or sleeping well .....

Doodles and Basketball!

It all began with a basketball game.  My aunt is here from Indiana celebrating the holidays with us.  This is the first year without my Uncle Bob and it feels so different, but we are so glad that my aunt made it out here.  Even more so since our 70 degree weather at the beginning of the week turned to a nasty snowstorm on the day she was flying in.  It’s a good thing John is not a meteorologist because he kept saying the snow wouldn’t stick because of the high temperatures we had earlier in…
