Lilly will now go in her crate without going banshee on us. She is sleeping through the night with only one potty break. She eats 3 meals a day 6/ 11/ 6 and has a kong with a treat/dog food/ peanut butter spread about 2ish.. she is awake about 1.5 hrs and then sleeps about 2 hrs. I put her in her crate during nap times.

She has learned how to talk and will talk to you when you are talking to her.. she gets to go for a ride in the car about every other day. She still whines when she…

Yesterday was a red letter day for Lilly. She got to have a playdate with her brother, Peanut.  Madeline and Peanut and family live in Omaha (about 70 miles from Brownville, NE) and we were able to spend the afternoon with them.

Lilly is feeling quite comfortable at home. She takes her toys out of the toy box and like my children, never puts them back. She has discovered the poochie bells and can ring it herself. It is very exciting.. two grown people jump out of their chairs/ stop whatever they are doing and let her outside.  She picks up leaves/ twigs/ looks for bugs and by accident goes potty and then whichever parent is out in the yard with her makes a big deal out of it.. like man landing on the moon big deal.…

I think we got down the crate thing. For the last two nights she just goes in the crate ( okay, I put her in the crate and hold her back and close the door) and lies down without making a sound. The first time it happened, I thought I had gone deaf and was having a stroke because all I heard was a beating heart but then I realized it was her heart thing in the crate. Holey Moley... has it been a ride these last few days. At times bumpy, but always an adventure. The first two nights  was hard on all of us. I hated to hear her howl, cry,  and whimper and ended up having her sleep with me. Well she slept, I was afraid she was going to fall off the bed so the first night I put a mattress on the floor in the kitchen and we slept there.  The second night I lasted 1 hr with her howling then put her in bed with me..as soon as she went to sleep, I put her back in…

The day went great for Lilly. The night- not so much. We took her to Lincoln ( 70 miles one way) juat as we got to Oficce Depot I spilled my Sonic Rt 44- ice and all on my lap and Lilly. I just figured that people would think she peed on me. (nice to have someone to blame things on, now that the kids are raised.) She went potty on the grass and slept all the way home.

Lilly did not read the books on crate training.  I thought I was the expert on drate training a dog since I read so many articles/ books/ talked to others and well I crapped out. She's here..she's here. Lilly is here with me in my house and in my heart. Papa Scott and I are over the moon thrilled. So here's the day. I woke up without the alarm clock at 6AM. Tis the night before Lilly comes home and all through the house every cord was put up and not a tooth pick or paper clip was about. Papa Scott is asleep a snoring in bed and I think I am ready for motherhood again, I said. Her food it is ready, her bed is all set, bowls, toys, brushes.. I think the list has been met. I am nervous, excited and a little silly- for tomorrow at this time we will have with us,Miss Lilly.

This morning I put everything out for Lilly's arrival on Friday. I must say for a little bitty thing, she sure has a lot of stuff. That is what happens when one is retired, can shop by the internet and it is to hot to go outside.  We are renting a little (itty, bitty, teeny, tiny) cottage while we are restoring our 1870 Victorian house in Brownville, NE. I joined DoodleKisses because we were getting a goldendoodle. I had hoped to get some much needed information from people that owned doodles. I was not disappointed. I have learned so much and hope to use this education when Lilly comes home.
