Some of you may know that my DH had surgery to have a spot on his thyroid removed two weeks ago.  We were told there was a 20% chance of cancer and well, 20% to me is pretty darn big, so he decided to go through with removing his left thyroid.  No risk in chancing that, especially with Baby S coming in October!

I have missed DK so much!  We have had a whirlwind of activity at our house the past few days and had a family of 5 stay at our house.  We have been friends with them forever (the mom's mom is my godmother) and we do Thanksgiving together every year - have since I was 5 :)

DH and I got back last night from a trip to Dallas to stay with my sister and also attend a wedding of a friend from college.  Dood and chihuahua stayed with their grandparents, as usual.  Keep in mind DH and I are big travelers and the dogs stay with my parents at least once a month - they have since Peri was probably 5 months old. It's been a while since I've popped in and a lots been goin' on at my house recently.  First of all, last week every day this truck would pull up to our house in the morning and stay all day while mom and dad were at work.  I heard mom say they were "painting the trim".  Well, that means I got to bark my head off at them all day long.  The last day they were there, diddy accidentally set that buzzing thing (they call it the alarm) - but the…

I was out of town for a conference from Sunday mid-day until last night (Wednesday).  I called daily - morning and evening - to check on the dogs, and err...DH too!  Keep in mind we are keeping Lucinda the Imposter (aka Lucy the terrier - parents' dog) while my mom and dad are in CA for the week.  And I happened to have a conference the first 1/2 of the week while they are gone and I was the one who volunteered to watch her (hey, they watch ours when we go out of town!).

Last night we had scare.  Let me preface this by saying my DH is OK!

Around 9:30 pm, DH lost his sight in the periphery of his eyes, his remaining vision became blurred and he was disoriented and very "off".  I had never seen him this way (he does not have migraines) and started to WebMD the symptoms.  Peri immediately came up to him and started whining, put her head on his lap and tried to calm him down. Peri had a huge day yesterday!  She spent the day at daycare, which we don't do as often anymore.  While she was there, she got her hair done at the beauty parlor. I know it is short, but doesn't she look cute?

Oh my, how I remember being where many of you are.  The long nights, the potty trips outside every 20 minutes, the endless zoomies, the nipping, the need to exercise an hour a day, etc...the list goes on and on!

This weekend we went with DMIL and DFIL (doodle mother-in-law and doodle father-in-law) to the lake.  Yes, WITHOUT DOGS. I was so mad about that because they have a goldendoodle too and I told them "hey, let's get a lakehouse that accepts pets and take 'em all!".  They didn't for some reason...excuse was that the boats do not accept dogs since we were renting and would be out on them all day.  Oh well.  Choodle had an excellent time at DG (doodle grandparents - my…

I don't know what is changing lately. Peri and Taquito have gotten along and loved each other almost as soon as Peri came home in June 2009. 

However, since we moved into the new house, they are bonding differently than usual.  They cuddle on the couches together!  They NEVER did this when we lived in the condo.  We come home from work - up the stairs from the garage (so they hear us coming with the garage door opening) and into the playroom/office where they stay during the…

I have had such a looooong workday and it has been pretty stressful.  My head is pounding from many things and I just had a rough last meeting.

What changed my entire afternoon was opening an email from Peri's breeder. Filled with an updated webpage for Peri's litter.  I got updated photos on her siblings!!!!!!!!! 

HEADACHE=POOF GONE!  FROWN=POOF GONE.  Smiles and feelin' good.

On Saturday I baked a batch of my grandma's famous homemade chocolate chip cookies for my dad.

As you can see from the below photo, Peri knew exactly where to position herself - directly below my feet!  She was anxiously awaiting drops of cookie dough, but lucky for us both, I kept the chocolate away from her :)

So, this has been happening periodically, but now it is a daily occurance.

Peri sleeps on her bed at the foot of our bed on the floor.  She loves her bed and curls up on it as soon as we turn out the lights for bedtime (or if we start reading in bed).  About 6 months ago, she would start waking up before our alarm went off - when the sun came up really.  She would then pace around and jump up on the bed, which was fine with us so we could sleep in a little…

2 years ago Peri came home to us.  I took the week off work to spend time getting her used to our home and her little brother Taquito.  We were up in the middle of the night taking her out, calming her down, potting training her, walking her in strollers to prevent sickness, etc...you all know the puppy drill!  It's a little overwhelming.

Fast forward 2 years and what do I have?  The most loving companion I could ask for.  A doodle with the title "Canine Good Citizen".  A…
