Finn Got Groomed!

I took Finn for a grooming. I'm OK with the body but his head looks gargantuous. They left it all poofy. His head doesn't look right on his body. I may try to fix it or take him back. What I did notice was that he has a ton of colours in his coat. His head is red with blond highlights on his face. His body is chocolate and his tail is chocolate with blond highlights.

The groomer said he was starting to grow his winter adult coat but I thought it was too soon for that. He is only 5… Continue

What a Week Update 1

Well, things didn't go much better last week. I finally got Finn in to see the vet that I wanted to see. He had two hotspots in his armpits that I hadn't noticed. So he's on antibiotics and I was told to give Benadryl for 3 days to see if it helped. It didn't really help. When I go back, we will try again to see if we can figure out why he is so itchy. She suggested I get him groomed after his hotspots clear up. I have to find a groomer that doesn't crate the dogs. I know Petsmart now has… Continue

What a Week!

I don't know why, but I rarely seem to have an uneventful day. They are usually not good things that happen either. I wonder if I bring these things on myself. You decide.

Yankee is my angel and has been since 8 weeks old. Finn is full of mischief. I thought Yankee would lead Finn to good behaviour. Of course not. I let the dogs out in the yard and came back awhile later and couldn't see them. I walked around to the side of the house and here comes Yankee covered in mud. It seems… Continue

Yankee attacked!

I am totally freaked. About 3 weeks ago a black doodle named Jackson came running towards us and Yankee slammed him to the ground and stood over him. We know this dog, have walked with him and they have played.

That experience shocked me because Yankee is so gentle and timid but I chalked it up to him protecting us.

This morning at the dog park, we ran into Jackson & his owner. We were chatting when Yankee jumped Jackson, had him on the ground and was biting at him while… Continue

More problems & $$$ for the vet

Yankee went back to the vet on Thursday to have his foot checked out to see if it was healed. She took the bandage off and we walked him a bit. His foot started to bleed again so she re-bandaged it and said to keep it on a little longer. Their office is closed Sat & Mon so she said if the bandage got wet, to take it off and put a sock or something over his foot. We are to go back on Tuesday.

After 3 days, for some reason Yankee decided to chew the bandage off last night. I didn't… Continue

Doodle Nose hair!

Yankee has the most perfect hair on his nose. It fans out just right. I love the way it looks.

I am wondering if all doodle noses are like this or just some of them. Here is a picture so you can see what I mean.

More vet bills.

These dogs are going to put my vet in a porsche pretty soon.

Today after our walk, I noticed blood on the floor. Off to examine both dogs and found Yankee had a bloody foot. His pad was cut as well as the skin beside it. Not sure how he did it and he wasn't limping. So off to the vet where they glued his pad and bandaged his foot. They wanted him to wear a cone and I said NO WAY. He was miserable the last and only time he wore one. They were concerned about him chewing at it but I… Continue

I am baffled!

I am baffled by Yankee's behaviour. Several months ago we met a black doodle puppy named Jackson at the dog park. Yankee played with him on several occasions and we watched him grow. He was almost as big as Yankee at 6 months. Well since I got Finn, we went less to the dog park and I haven't seen Jackson in a while.

About 2 weeks ago and again today we saw Jackson coming into the park as we were leaving. Yankee attacked him!!!! Jackson is very energetic and comes running towards us… Continue

New camera!

My digital camera died a few days ago and I couldn't stand not having one. Off I went to find a new one with my son's help. He likes to check out all the reviews before I buy anything.

I'm still learning how to use it but I got one really great action shot of my doodles. Here it is!

Finn is 14 weeks and 25 lbs.

I went to the vet today and Finn weighed in at 25 lbs. He may end up being bigger than I thought. He parents were only 45 and 50 lbs so I figured he would be about the same. At the rate he is growing, looks like he will be as big as Yankee after all. I am definitely pleased.

Trying Yet Another Grromer!

Well, this is my 4th groomer. I hope I have finally found the one. She works out of her home and lives within a 10 minute drive. I dropped Yankee off at 9am and he did have some mats. I had most of them out Wed night but yesterday he went swimming in the pool. Not good.

She brought me inside and showed me her grooming area. She has 3 dogs (one is a rescue) and a cat. She also has 5 foster kittens. Obviously an animal lover so that's a good sign. Her grooming room looked great. She… Continue

Finn loves the water!

Well after Finn fell in the pool, I was afraid that he would be scared of the water. Not at all. He has actually started to swim a little bit. He is just 13 weeks. Problem is, he is wet all the time. Not necessarily from swimming but from his new lounging spot.

Rules for the Dog

Things I Must Remember As A Dog

(In order to keep my present living arrangements)

The garbage collector is not stealing our stuff.

I do not need to suddenly stand straight up when I'm lying under the coffee table.

I will not roll my toys behind the fridge, behind the sofa or under the bed

I must shake the rainwater out of my fur before entering the house.

I will not eat the cats' food, before they eat it or after they throw it up.

I will stop… Continue

A Little Prank!

Many people have commented how mischievious my whole family is. I pulled a prank on DH without even thinking twice and then forgot I had done it until he brought it up and blamed Cody.

For those of you who saw my freaky picture of the hand over DH's back, you will understand how funny this was. After I posted the picture, I showed it to DH. He was a little freaked out and said that someone must be watching over him. Of course, I showed him just before he went to bed so it was fresh… Continue

Finn Fell In!

Someone was asking if dogs are natural swimmers. Well I don't know about all dogs but my 10 week old puppy fell in the pool today. Finn was running after Yankee and DH heard a splash. He went to look and Finn was swimming to the steps and got out on his own. Whew! Good thing I wasn't there, I would have freaked. Not sure how Finn felt about it.

You decide!…

Chili the cat is smart!

My neighbour's cat (Chili) has been visiting us daily for about 3 years now. Before Yankee, he had the run of the place, napping, snacking etc. When Yankee arrived, Chili decided to make friends with him so he wouldn't lose all the perks of his second home. When it rains or is too cold, he comes here. He has slept here many times overnight. My first picture shows Chili making friends with Yankee. He would come and eat Yankee's food all the time.

Now along comes Finnegan to join our… Continue
