Finally We Heard Bells

Success! Harlow finally rang the bells on the back door by herself to let me know she needed to go outside. Progress at last. I am teleworking today and was sitting at the kitchen counter when I heard the bells. My first thought was 'what was that', my second thought was 'OMG, it is the bells'. I turned around to see Harlow standing at the back door. I quickly jump up to let her outside and tell her what a wonderful dog she was. She even did her… Continue

Chili the cat is smart!

My neighbour's cat (Chili) has been visiting us daily for about 3 years now. Before Yankee, he had the run of the place, napping, snacking etc. When Yankee arrived, Chili decided to make friends with him so he wouldn't lose all the perks of his second home. When it rains or is too cold, he comes here. He has slept here many times overnight. My first picture shows Chili making friends with Yankee. He would come and eat Yankee's food all the time.

Now along comes Finnegan to join our… Continue

It has been so long :(

My goodness, it has been so long since I have been on Doodlekisses :( Dylan's swimming schedule has kept me quite busy these days. I did start the Clicker training, but yet have to finish with Bear. I have been working on walking him with his Gentle Leader and Clicker................this seems like a great combination for him :)

I miss you all my friends and I apologize for not being on these past few months. I am going to try my hardest to be on more before school starts back up… Continue

Neely running with scooter!

I am just pleased that today Neely and I had a long trip up town and around our river and park system. I drove the scooter we have and had Neely stay along side me and get used to it and also did some regular training as well. He did really well running along side the scooter. He did stray a few times across the path in front of the scooter and tryed to get to the other side. I had him walk on the left like he would for the heel position.

I could see he was having such an internal struggle… Continue

N. Fl

Hi Dianne,
You have a beautiful website.
I'd like to know if you, or friend of a friend know of any Doodle
groups in the N. FL area. I'm in Jacksonville.
We're lucky enough to have some dog parks and most beach allow dogs, so we do get to socialize - but want to know about Doodle groups.
Thanks,
Gail

Freaking OUT!

Needed to vent with my DK family - I just left my chihuahua at the vet for a dental cleaning. I know he isn't a Doodle, but he is a very important Doodle Brother to Lady Peri (who does not understand where he is at all!).

I got him when he was 9 months and already neutered, so I have NO IDEA how he is after being put under. I am having them do bloodwork before to make sure he can handle the anesthesia. But I am freaking out about this and broke down at the vet. They told me they were… Continue

13 weeks old, 5 weeks in!

It's official! Penny now has her first nickname....Fuzzlump! Kinda rolls off the tongue doesn't it?..."Come on Fuzzlump!"

We seem to have reached some major milestones this last week....certain things have seemed to 'click' with her. She now goes to the door when she needs to go out, no accidents at all for days, takes the pressure of the constant vigilance looking for those tell-tale signs. She sometimes leaves it almost a bit late, as on occasion she hurls herself at the door, but… Continue

Happy Birthday Kona

Mommy is Baaaad, and this is a belated Birthday announcement for my Kona girl! It is so hard for me to believe that she turned two years old on July 3rd. I couldn' think of life without her, but it seems like she just got here not that long ago....... She is my hubby's little girl, Buddy's special friend and sister, and my little lovey cuddler. Such a sweet, but tough girl, HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY LITTLE CHUNKY MONKEY, BROWN BEAR, TOOTSIE ROLL, HOT… Continue

Big Puppy Paws....

I woke the other day and looked at Hershey and thought, "wow, he's getting big" I asked my husband, "Is it just me, or has Hershey gotten bigger over night?" No, I'm not imagining it....

When we brought Hershey home from the breeder, he was 6.8 lbs at 8 weeks. At 10 weeks back to the vet for more booster shots and he weighed in at 11.2 lbs. Hershey went to the vet today for his rabies shot and at 13 weeks he weighed in at 22.6 lbs! And his feet are HUGE! He has gotten tall and lanky,… Continue

Need Some Insight

Thinking of getting another doodle. Samantha - obviously - is female. How do 2 females do together or should we consider getting a male?

Toby Finally Had His First Play Date With A Doodle From Doodlekisses

This morning we met up with Anat and Sammy at the dog park. Sammy is a Mini Australian Labradoodle, about 20 lbs. and about 20 months old. We had a great time, It was a pleasure to meet Anat and Sammy is so-o- o adorable and has no problems keeping up with the bigger dogs. We have not been able to find any other doodle friends in the area that visit the dog parks, so this was real exciting for us (probably me more than Toby) to finally meet up and play with another doodle from Doodlekisses! I… Continue

Riley's new babies and Cajun- rescued Dachsund

It has been a big week here at the Pan de Vida household. Our Riley had 9 babies- 3 blue merle, 3 black and 3 gold. Riley didn't want to appear partial to any particular color of puppy so she had 3 of each. All of them are doing well and Riley has adjusted to motherhood quite nicely. The pups are plumping up nicely and for a first time momma, Riley is just like an old pro.

Our rescued boy,… Continue

Newsweek Magazine Article

Just thought I'd share this article I just read in this weeks Newsweek magazine.

By Suzanne Smalley | NEWSWEEK

Published Jul 11, 2009

From the magazine issue dated Jul 20, 2009

Bill Smith has dedicated his life to fighting "puppy mills," the warehouses where dogs are raised for profit in tiny cages, denied sufficient medical care, and often killed when they get sick or can no longer breed. Smith noticed that many of the farms around his shelter facility, near the… Continue

Does your doodle wag this way?

This is a text message I got from Clark today:

When Rosco sits and wags his tail...his wiener wags too!

It continued:

Me: ROFLMAO...wagging wiener...Heeeeeeeeeeeheeee :-) That's a funny way of asking for lunch :-)
(me sneaking in a reminder to my hubby that it was past Rosco's lunch time in case he forgot).

Clark: "Please Daddy FEED ME! See?? My wiener is wagging...I'm hungry!"
