Giselle is a young Maltese who has had a hard life. She was tied in a yard by her first owners and the cord she was tied with became embedded in her neck. Then she was placed in a shelter where she was attacked by bigger aggressive dogs. The poor girl was petrified of people when we got her and was also totally scared of other dogs.
Enter Holly... …

Holly is four and a half years old and we have had her with us since she was seven and a half weeks old. She has never counter surfed until this Fourth of July when I left a brisket close to the edge of the kitchen counter. Judy had given Holly a taste of the roast and that was too tempting. I guess the saying "Where's the beef?" goes for Holly as well as the little lady on the old commercials for Wendy's
Holly retrieved it and shared part of it with her Maltese friends. …

When I think about Independence Day, I always think about my ancestors who were brave enough AND SMART ENOUGH to leave their homes in the old word and venture to our wonderful country...
Of course, some of my ancestors did not come to the United States. They came to the colonies of Virginia and Pennsylvania as well as from Ireland to the State of Tejas and Coahilla which was then part of Mexico and which, after they spilled some of their blood in the cause of independence,…

I have just been infected by a malware program which disguises itself as: S.M.A.R.T Repair. It pretends that the hard drive is failing through a virus and that you must purchase their S.M.A.R.T. Repair program to salvage the computer! Then it hides all of the iformation contained on the hard drive so the hard drive owner thinks that the hard drive has failed.
I did not buy into their scam and would not let my computer install…

The family who is adopting our darling foster, Bailey, has another doodle. That one comes from the same kennel in Texas (Cheyenne Valley) from which we got our Holly. The other doodle, Hailey, is two years younger than Holly so they can't be litter mates. It will be interesting to find out if any of their parents are the same...

The American Maltese Association is holding their annual specialty this year in San Diego. One of our Rescue's primary fund raising events is a luncheon raffle of donated articles. A couple who run a cruise booking service just adopted one of our rescue puppies. They said that they wanted to help out our rescue efforts and donated a seven day cruise for two along Alaska's Inside Passage for August 2013 worth $4,000! Judy and I are going to bid on that one!

Holly is not a great toy lover. She will play with a toy for a while and then forget about it. However, Bailey, our foster Goldendoodle, as well as two of our Maltese adore their toys. Just now as I was letting the dogs out for a potty break, Bailey and the two Maltese were lined up. Each had a stuffed toy in its mount...

We are helping Michelle Long by doggie sitting her foster goldendoodle, Bailey, while Michelle is visiting family over the Spring break. Bailey is an absolutely darling 11-month old female doodle but, we have a four pound 14-week old Maltese puppy that we were a bit concerned about. We weren't worried that Bailey would do anything to hurt the pup on purpose but, a 30-pound dog could easily hurt a small pup by accident.
Not to worry, we introduced the pup to Bailey in our…

If you save one dog, you won't change the world, but the world will change for that one dog!

Four Maltese rescues have been adopted this past weekend and are in their new homes. One rescue has been selected for a furever home (waiting for this weekend to go there) and one cute 12-week old puppy (an owner surrender) has arrived as a new foster!
The five adoptions make eleven fosters through our house this year!
The puppy is actually the only one of the three fosters we have in the house that is ready for adoption. The other two have some health…

When I was a kid, I hated broccoli but, now I love it - either cooked or raw in a salad. I dropped a piece when I was preparing a salad the other day and my dogs went crazy over it. So now I add it to the kibble topping I give them. Brocolli has lots of vitamins and minerals.
My kibble topping consists of...
London Broil
Yams or sweet potatoes
Carrots
Pineapple - seems to keep any rescues from eating poop
I cook these ingredients…

We rescued Angelina from a Los Angeles shelter on Valentine's Day. She had been wandering the streets as a stray! Usually, our rescue Maltese have to be just about clipped down to the skin because they are such bad shape. However, although Angelina was dirty and somewhat matted; Judy managed to save her coat. This was a nice Valentine gift for us and an even better one for this darling little girl. …

Toby will be going to a perfect furever home on Friday. We definitely wanted a family who was used to having dogs around because Toby is occasionally a bit puppy naughty and is always vivacious. We wanted a family that had a yard beause Toby has lots of energy and we also wanted a family with kids - Toby will have a ten year old human brother and a twelve year old human sister. He will also have two dog buddies to play with.
His new mom's mother has a labrador cross and a…

Two of Holly's Maltese buddies had upset tummies last night and vomited. Nothing serious, they are perfectly O.K. now. Holly woke us up by whining to let us know that here friends were sick. Now that's a great friend!

Our Holly has fallen in love with Toby a rescue who is a poodle crossed with some unknown breed (possibly Maltese). He and Holly play together for hours and then spend quiet time together. Toby is a puppy (we guess about 10-months old) who weighs about 15 pounds.
We call him a pseudo-doodle because he looks like he could be Holly's son. He is well behaved, loving and well on his way to being house trained. If anyone is seeking a relatively small dog who has most Doodle…

Her birthday was Christmas Day and she shared some ground steak on her kibble with the rest of the dogs in our home.
We just love her dearly and our love for her grows all the time.
Holly is our perfect dog!

We just picked up a puppy from a trailer park in the Los Angeles area who had been rescued from Gang Bangers who were torturing it. The pup needs a partial tail amputation and its face has been burned.
I am not a forgiving man! I could easily maim or kill anyone that I caught torturing a puppy like this one. And that is not just an empty burst of anger. I would enjoy doing so!
Anyway, the puppy is at our vet and the vet will amputate the tail partially. It…

We met a magical little girl yesterday. Katie is nine-years old and she and her mom came to our house to meet and possibly foster a Maltese, Maggie, who had been abused by children and who was terrified of them. We have no kids around our house so we thought that this would be good for Maggie if she could take having a kid around. Maggie's mom told us that if her daughter couldn't make friends with Maggie, no kid could.
I noticed something different about Katie right from…
