I've read so many stories of doodles and disastrous groomers here on DoodleKisses. Today I am adding my experience. 

I'm a little livid. I'm going to have to learn to clip my doodle. I took him to our groomer today. The first time we went, it cost $65. The second we went to this shop they had hired a new groomer who was supposed to do "show-quality" clipping. It cost $90, but he looked gorgeous. Now I know not everyone likes snow but I happen to be one of those that do. Some however seem to have had enough. This is a sign  outside of a church in town. Glad someone has a sense of humor.

Day before yesterday, my doodle mom and dad called me into the garage. I was all excited ‘cuz I figured it meant we were going for a W-A-L-K, but instead, there was this tiny red fuzzball trotting around my feet! I froze, thinking, “Whoa… pull up on the reins there, cowboys. What in heck is THIS? And when is she LEAVING?”

Dagny has been growing like a weed. She had a quick trip into the vet today so she could be weighed. We have been buying her heartgard medication one month at a time since she has been growing so quick. She has now reached the 50 pound mark and for the first time we were able to buy a 6 month supply. It has been amazing to watch her grow and now I'm wondering just how big she will get to be. The breeder said that puppies from past litters of the same two parent dogs average between 60 and 65…

Lyric's puppies continue to thrive and grow--they are getting more coordinated every day and they seem so excited when they can do something new. 

Since all the pups are almost 6 weeks now and growing up so fast, I decided to try to do some individual portraits of them sitting up like big boys. Here are a few--the one of Twink has already been posted, but I will include it here.

My day started when Vern fell off of the bed while sleeping. This scared him to death and he ran as fast as he could over to my side of the bed for a hug. Fudge stood up to see what all the commotion was, gave him a look like, "how stupid can you be?" and went back to sleep. It was just going to get worse for Vern, because he had to go to the groomers today. I used to schedule the dog's grooming appointments on the same day, but I really like spending one on one time with each of them, so…

Hooray! I returned from classes today to find it warm-ish, sunny and beautiful! It was a little windy but I will take what I can get. I was so glad to get a break from the wet, cold, grey weather we've been having lately. In celebration, Darwin and I had a little picnic out on the lawn. He enjoyed it even more than I did! I also took advantage of the sun and took some photos of Darwin, something I never tire of. :-)

So I've taken to jumping rope. Mainly because I was scolded for jogging with Bernie at his age. Still working out how I feel about it, doing some research, but it's on hold for the time being. Walks only. But I need to do more...and jumping rope can be done at any time, it's great for keeping the metabolism up, definitely works muscles most of us neglect, yadda, yadda, yadda. The rope was cheap so it's a worthwhile new venture.

We have two dogs, a 17 week-old Labradoodle puppy named Harper and a 13 and a half year-old Dalmatian named Maddie.  This weekend we almost lost Maddie to bloat and it was a terrifying experience.  The good news is that she is back from the animal hospital and is recovering well.

All doodle owners seem fortunate that our doodles don't usually have a doggy odor and Holly is certainly free of such smells; except when we were visiting Texas and she rolled in deer poop on my sister-in-law's front lawn. She was covered in a green smelly slime. But, that's another story.
