Wierd Vet Visit

We took Louie to the Vet yesterday evening to have a re-check, we had a little trouble after his nueter with some swelling, everything is fine now so just needed a five minute visit.

Now bearing in mind Louie is the most friendly dog I have ever known, and wants to play with all creatures great and small. I was blown away when right out of the blue he started growling at a friendly dog in the waiting room. I have never seen anything like that from him! Anyway the dog left and all was fine… Continue

My Fearful Fluffball...

Fozzy was totally fearless when he first came home. Then after about two weeks, he started to show some timidness towards people. He would back away from strangers, hide behind me etc. Then when I was at work, he started running away and hiding under my desk and give a liitle growl. Then it continued with the amount of growl continuing to grow. It happens at bome too. It continued to progress into a bark when a stranger would even come near my office, then a full fledged barking assault, from… Continue

The Hug

Jess had a bad day yesterday. Add to pulmonary edema, a little pneumonia, and strep from in his sputum and a rise in temperature. He had been gasping for air and has been placed on a pressure ventilation device.

When I arrived at Mayo after my stress test, Jess was greeting me with a half raised arm. As I walked over to the bed, he pulled me in, and with the best of his ability gave me a hug and patted my back. His step-mom and son also visited today, but the day was ours. Jess was… Continue

Lucy's first walk on trail

Fergie and I had our first walk on our country trail by the house. It's got 1 1/2 mile stretch with no roads and at this time of year not any other people either. No leash necessary. It was so nice even though it was cold outside. It was fun to watch Lucy (8 wks) chase her older sister. We went about 3/4 mile total. I worked on teaching Lucy to come when called and sit in front of me. She was very hungry and I fed her her kibble as we walked. This worked really good. She's already coming to me… Continue

Kennel Cough !!

Charlie is now 14 weeks, and we have been going to Puppy Kindergarten. There, I learned all about the importance of socialization. Plus, she has some anxiety about straingers, so I was doing my best to socialize her by taking her to puppy social, play ground and started to take her to the dog park, too. Weather has gotten better lately, and it was fun for me, too!

But guess what happend? Charlie got Kennel Cough!!!

I didn't think it was important for her to be vaccinated for it,… Continue

1st therapy visit

Mater did his first therapy visit tonight. He was really a hit with the kids. It is a support group for children who are grieving a loss. I learned a few things to watch for though. He was a little stressed at the new situation, then really excited when other dogs came. He wanted to play and it was hard to keep him calm until the kids came. When they did, he was really good with them and they loved him. However, he was a little to "hands (paws) on" and mouthy. Some of the boys started wrestling… Continue

My 3 year old goldendoodle just suffered from bloat!!!

'Hi Just some info for everyone who has a goldendoodle, my large 3 year old male suffered from bloat monday night and almost died. Luckily he received surgery in time and was saved. He is still in recovery and will takes weeks for him to get back to normal. I would like everyone to be aware of this horrible condition which kills dogs within hours. He was acting very strangely, he was dry heaving, walking around in circles than he went and hid under my deck. He finally came out and collapsed and… Continue

No rest stress test

I did not call Mayo through the night or early this morning as I normally do. I was hoping last night would be the night my guy got some restorative sleep. Phoebe slept well, resting her head in my neck again. I think she must have put on a little weight as I struggled to shove her over.

I had to be at the cardiologist’s office at 7:45 for part one of my stress test. This was the “rest test.” I’d be on my way to see Jess after they released me. After check-in, I decided to call and… Continue

Sophie's new 'do

Here are some pics of Sophie's new haircut.. It's brand new.. still extremely fluffy.. Beautiful pink bows if I do say so myself.. I usually have her cut a bit short and let her grow out really long between cuts. She'd look a bit more doodle like if I sprayed… Continue

Why dogs are sometimes better than spouses

Both Robert and I (Sandie) love to laugh. We hope you have a smile on your face after reading this. Wags & Licks

1. The later you are, the more excited your dogs are to see you.

2. Dogs don’t notice if you call them by another dog’s name.

3. Dogs like it if you leave a lot of things on the floor.

4. A dog’s parents never visit.

5. Dogs agree that you have to raise your voice to get your point… Continue

I'm walking down the street with my Nikes on

Benny stepped the other day into something (probably glass) and cut the skin between his toes on one of his webbed feet.

The wound got infected and he kept licking on it, so the vet decided that he needs to wear a shoe to protect the wound.

As I am working for the company with the swoosh all my colleagues started making jokes that Benny is the only one in the family who has to wear "no name" brand shoes and that it is not fair.

Therefore I decided to pimp Benny's shoe and get him… Continue

Dove feathers

The morning dawned with a doodle muzzle nested in the curve of my neck.

I remember that was how the evening began. Phoebe wanted to snuggle. It wasn’t very comfortable for me, but the reality that she had made herself cozy made me smile. I believe we fell asleep that way.

For the first time in four weeks and two days I did not call the night nurse. An extra phone ring or voices would keep Jess awake. My morning call was only to learn that Jess had another night of no… Continue

I know better...

Okay. I know better. I do. I have a soft crate for Rusty (the 4 month old) in my bedroom and his regular crate in the living room. He's outgrowing the soft crate and can't really stretch out like he likes too. Last night he finally figured out how to unzip it. After putting him back in 3 times - I finally just said forget it (yes, I should have though about safety pinning the zipper thingee but it was 2am!!!).. Anyhoo, I left him out.. with Lucy. He came over to the side of the bed and laid… Continue

My little town of Vandergrift was in the President's speech last night..........

If any of you took time out from doodlekisses to watch the president's speech last night, the town outside of Pitts. that he talked about was Vandergrift. That is where Lucy and I live. HaHaHa. We are famous, NOT !!!!!!!!! He referred to a small window factory that just closed and laid all of it's workers off and then was able to reopen because of the "President's stimulus" package. WHOOOOOHOOOOO

Dex Started his obedience training last night!!

I was so relieved to start obedience classes with Dex last night. There are only 3 other pups in our class, so it's a nice size for plenty of attention from our instructor. It's funny, I felt myself "judging" the other dogs and trying to decide WHO I would allow Dex to play with....(Tank the Mastiff that is already 27lbs, Shelby the playful Boxer, or Brad the psycho idiot pup that is a lab mix of some kind). Definitely did our best to stay away from the Lab. He kept biting Dex's ears and the… Continue

“I am breathing on my own”

This morning I was both nervous and excited to go see Jesse. He had not slept yet another night, so I wasn’t sure what I would find this morning.

It felt like a first date. I put on a colorful sweater and some make-up. I couldn’t wait to see his bright beautiful eyes looking at me.

When I arrived a family friend and (brother) Jody met me in the waiting area. We walked back to see Jess, when he saw me he mouthed “I love you” from beneath his tubes. I’m always relieved that he… Continue

The Puppies are here!

Jill had 10 beautiful mini Goldendoodle puppies yesterday! Quite a surprise. She was only 57 days along but she and all the pups are doing fantastic! We have 5 boys and 5 girls in varying shade of cream and red. We are really excited about this litter - it is gorgeous!

So happy with Fergie @ school

Fergie and I went to our 4th obedience class today. She is 13 months but we've never gone to obedience, I've just done a lot of reading and bought a few video's. I think Fergie is doing great. The teacher snuck over to me and whispered in my ear that I've got a "wonder dog". She just loves her (Not as much as me). I just want to encourage anyone who has a doodle to take them to class. It's so much fun because they respond so well. She loves it. We certainly are going to go further with these… Continue
