Lucy turns 18 weeks old

18 weeks old today. Why does it feel we've had Lucy for about 3 years, rather than nearly 3 months? Anyway, I just wanted to express how I'm beginning to feel a real bond with Lucy that had been missing in earlier weeks. I always loved her and felt a connection to her, but that true bond that comes from really knowing another being, that's what I'm talking about. And its a mutual feeling. Lucy is learning to know me too. I love that. Those early puppy weeks we were all so new to each other.…

Longest Walk Yet...

It was a beautiful spring day in Texas yesterday.... right about 70 degrees... not to hot or cold... I was comfortable in capris and a t-shirt. I decided to take Shelby for a walk outside of our normal walking area (which I vary our path frequently). I packed up some water and a dish in my backpack since I didn't know if there would be doggie water fountains in the area we walked to (we have two in my subdivision park. We headed out, stopped by a colleagues house - he had never met Shelby and… Continue

Oh what an evening I had!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On my drive home from work all I could think about was "It's Gus' bath night." Brushed him throughly last night and more during lunch in preparation for his bath. Don't get me wrong Gus loves his baths it's me the "procrastinator" that can think of any excuse to postpone "the bath." When I arrived home on my doorstep was........

I…

Doodle Envy

My daughter has a wonderful French Bulldog named Bonzai. We are always kidding about who has the better dog...like there is any question. We all know it is Fudge. Anyway, she makes fun of me and my Doodle Kisses and today I told her she was just jealous and should start her own group for French Bulldogs. I told her she could call it "French Kisses". She did not seem like she thought that was a good idea.

Shelby has lost her first puppy tooth!

Yes, it true... my little girl has hit a major milestone and that is the loss of a puppy tooth. I was a bit shocked when I found it just laying on her blanket - after she had been chewing on a rawhide! She didn't seem bothered at all.... which is good! I gave her an ice cube to try and stop the bleeding (minimal), and she went for it... both as a treat and a toy!

Beemer Update - Week 4 - Good Report and Second Surgery

We have all made it to the end of week four with Beemer's left hip surgery....but now we must do his second hip.

The follow-up x-ray showed that his left hip is healing very well....that combined with his muscle tone, allowed the doctor to do the second surgery yesterday. Beemer was again an excellent candidate for the same surgery (TPO) on his right hip, which made us happy because the success rate is so great. The right hip was adjusted by 40%, as was the left hip....so his gate should be… Continue

Slowly emerging from his shell...Wilbur!

Wilbur Foster Doodle is making great strides! He is eating a little bit more (not as much as I would like, but more), drinking normally, and is having pretty regular "eliminations". He's still a super snuggler, and he and Callie have come to a bedtime understanding (the understanding is if they both want to be there, they have to deal with the other one!).

Wilbur things that make me laugh:

- Monday night I was getting ready for bed. I heard the unmistakable sound of…

Peri's Sweet Side is Coming Out!

I will spare you the details, but I had a bad bout with food poisoning Monday night/Tuesday morning. Peri girl never left my side. She followed me everywhere. She licked me all over every time I would get back in bed. She was so good yesterday while I stayed home from work - she would go run around and roam the house for a while and I didn't even worry about her getting into trouble (she didn't). My mom came over to walk both dogs and after that quick walk, she got in bed with me and didn't…

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY...We mean it this time!

Happy St. Patrick's Day Doodle Buddies! We think our Mom finally figured out that it's today....remember she was very confused yesterday. I hear some of you were asking for new pictures of us. Thanks a lot. She lined us up for this "photo op" yesterday...right when we were having a good time playing with (fighting over) the antler. There's another one somewhere, but we boys both like the same one, and it's really so much fun to wrestle for it. Anyway, back to the picture. Remember when Mom made… Continue

HAPPY BELATED FIRST BIRTHDAY DUKE!!!!

Yep, Duke turned a year old on Monday! It was a pretty low key, uneventful day as I had some kind of
flu bug for a couple of days so I camped out on the couch some and didn't get to post his birthday. Thankfully, I'm feeling much better! My faithful pooches kept me company and came up to give me some affection now and then!

I've never had a dog quite…

Many changes happening in Murphy's life

Murphy is 15 months old thursday. He has been with us most of every hour of every day since he was 8 weeks old. He stays within sight or sits with us on beds or couches day and night. He loves to ride in the car with us no matter where we're going, so we take him with us a lot.

He is allowed access to the potty yard every few hours as someones always going in and out and he accompanies, so holding his bladder for more than 4 hours has never been a real issue for him. He has been living…

Good girl and not so good girl !!

* Good Girl -- AM

I took my son to the school bus stop this morning. When I returned home, I saw Butter sitting in my front yard! My son must have not closed the front door completely, now the door was pretty much wide open.:-(

Even though we have fenced in yard, he could have also half way closed the gate as well. Not a good situation. Butter came right to me, and I got to be wondering where is Charlie?! She is not in the yard!!

As I escorted Butter toward the front…

HAPPY ST. PATRICKS DAY

Happy St. Patricks Day from Donna and Quincy. Here's an old Irish saying we would like to share with you. "AS YOU SLIDE DOWN THE BANISTER OF LIFE, MAY THE SPLINTERS NEVER FACE IN THE WRONG DIRECTION." Happy Paddys Day everyone.

We survived!!!!

Ok, so my boss was not up for me bringing Banjo into the office with me as I'd hoped he would be. I took the first week off and have been with Banjo 24/7 since he arrived. I only work 3, five hour days/week and today it was back to work for me. I carefully prepared a yummy stuffed Kong and put it in the freezer last night. This morning I put on some classical music, placed the Kong and a new toy Banjo hasn't seen yet and an old familiar toy and my baby… Continue

Sophie is happy, except in the car (carsickness!)

Sophie is doing SO well, learning to be confident & happy. Except in the car. Poor thing has terrible anxiety. I really think it's the anxiety that's making her sick -- even more than the nausea.

I think her anxiety in the car is related to the fact that while most of the car rides in her life have had happy destinations, this has not always been the case. Plus, she endured a rough start to her life in a puppy mill and ended up abandoned & tied to a tree, stuck in a…

Thanks to all responded

I am very grateful to all who offered an opinion as to Golda's breed(s). No, Shelly, she does not shed . . . at least not yet. Since Golda comes to the office with me everyday, I am frequently asked what kind of dog she is. Now at least I can offer a "general (unanimous?) consensus. Meanwhile, I have had the opportunity to look at pictures of all of your dogs. What magnificent and photogenic darlings, each in his or her own way. I can only hope my baby becomes as beautiful, playful and… Continue

HAPPY ST PATRICK'S DAY FROM THE IRISH BROTHERS

It's finally here!!!! We've been watching that St. Patrick's Day countdown clock forever waiting for this day. We're so glad that we found each other so we can celebrate TOGETHER! My Mom is throwing a BIG party on Saturday, and all our dog cousins will be here...lots of little kids to play with too. I think she'll make us special surprises to eat...the humans eat corned beef and cabbage, but that's not good for Doods. We hope you have a really fun day. It's finally sunny here, and that means… Continue
