Fat dogs with worms

Took the dogs to their 5 year checkup today. Turns out they both have worms (2 different kinds!) and are 3-4 lbs over their max. weight. How did this happen? They get at least 3 hours of offleash exercise every day and both are pretty active hunters and spend most of the day running around outside. The vet said their metabolism slows down around this age and to feed them less. I'm pretty sure they'll be acting hungry after eating two sad scoops of food each, so I'm wondering if I should…

Achilles The Pick Pocket

Achilles is going through another phase of puppyhood. Things he would leave he now takes and chews. Today he grabbed my son's wallet. He had the wallet in his mouth when I noticed. Took the wallet out after some prying. My son Griffin could not find the money that was in it. Guess where it was, under his tongue! Go figure!!!!!

Silly husbands

Is our Peri "out of control"???

First Groom... Shelby was a rock star!

I took Shelby in for her first groom yesterday.... just a puppy groom.... bath, blow dry, razor trim around face and paws, sanitary, ear cleaning and nail trim/grind. I didn't know how she would do. Well, she got rave reviews from the grooming department! They said they would have never guessed that she hadn't been groomed before. Yes, the blow dryer freaked her out at first, but she was fine. Toby's having fun, but I'm not!

About a week ago Toby got up uncharacteristically early - 6:15 a.m. He woke me whining, which he never does. He sleeps in a crate in our room. I let him out and he raced outside. Easter is coming ~ Who wants Pupcakes????

So, with Easter right around the corner, I dug out my pupcake recipe and will be making Coop and all of the extended family dogs pupcakes for them to enjoy on the big day! The recipe follows. Losing My Mind

I think I am spending too much time on Doodle Kisses. Last night, in the middle of the night, I was taking Vern and Fudge out and Vern bolted out the door. Luckily, he is a little velcro guy and just stood there, but I could not remember his name. I was yelling "here Banjo". I have also called him Murphy, Norm, and what's his name. Training Classes & opening weekend!!

So....I've started obedience training classes, one on one. It has been really awesome!! I'm very surprised at how much I am enjoying this!! The trainer is a behaviorist also. We train with treats and a clicker. This has been very good and I have learned a lot about how dogs think. I just had my second lesson yesterday. Argh. Possible Diagnosis of Hip Dysplasia

Well, our boy Atticus went into Beach Pet Hosp. for xrays under sedation today to check for hip dysplasia. Ugh. While we were on vacation I noticed his walking funny after playing with my nephew as well as his favoring his leg a bit after walks and a trip to the puppy park. :-( I just got the call that the vet wants to go over his xrays with me when I go to pick him up. ARE YOU "EASIER" WITH YOUR SECOND DOODLE?

When we first got Guinness we decided we would not allow him up on the furniture...except the bed at night for our "cuddle time". A couple of times he tried to jump on the couch, and I told him "no". Topper Says -- Meet My New Siblings!

Topper has now been in his new home for a week. Things are going very well. We are now a Two Doodle Family!

On Friday, my friend and I left for a 350 mile trip to Rhode Island to pick up my Labradoodle puppy. I was only back from Indiana two days before this trip. We figured we have been in nine states in less than one week. The 350 mile trip took over eleven hours due to the traffic...whew!

It's a lonely night at my house...

Right now my Shelby is spending her first night in a boarding facility. Groomer Praise

I just had to post something to say how much I love our groomer. Gus went in for his normal grooming appointment yesterday and I really expected him to end up having to be shaved. Well she call us and said that Gus was going to be longer than normal because of some bad mats. Well to my surprise when I went to pick him up he looked like this.
