"Harry" is here! It turns out that Henry never really was a pet, has been in outside kennel for the last 6 weeks. My husband, Dewey, hated the name Henry, so Harry it is. Transfered Harry in Peru, ILL - extremely dirty, smelled like a barn. Got home at 10:30 pm, Ella was veryyyyyy excited! Harry looks nothing like Ella - much more of a poodle body and very skinny right now. he promptly pooped on the rug of course. After a shower and shampoo with Dewey he didn't smell quite as bad . Although…

We were having a great Mother's Day and then it happened. My son was playing with Phoebe on her leash ( my oldest had the leash in his hands) and she got over-excited, jumped and nipped him millimeters from his eye. Of course, my parents were watching them as I had just cut my hand and needed to wash it inside. I thought I was going to pass out. My husband was at the cell phone store--his phone disconnected, of course--so it took a while to reach him. We raced our son to the ER and they…

What a wonderful Mother's Day weekend we had...
We decided to head to Columbus, Ohio for the weekend with Remington to visit Dan's Mom and Dad at their lake house on Buckeye Lake. I have to admit I was a little bit nervous because Dan has a very young niece (Mallory) and nephew (Elliott) and I wasn't sure how Remington Bear would act around them since he isn't around children too often. Also, Dan's brother has an 8 year old black lab and Remington seems to be terrified around other…

We let Bodi out this morning . . .forgetting about the wet lawn that had been mowed last night. There was no choice but to bundle him up and take him right to the tub!

Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers of doodles out there, and the mother of children, or someone elses children, or anyone that holds the position of a mother in any way! Happy Mother's Day and have a wonderful day!

Today is the day! I am meeting the breeder in northern ill around 7pm tonight( they are on their way to NY). When we get home around midnight do you think he'll be ready to go in his kennel for the night - not! Plus, I am sure that Ella is going to be very excited. I have been bragging to everyone how perfect our little girl is. Well, she does have some faults! Discovered a few piles of poop in the lower level(we seldom go down there). Guess she is not ready to be alone when I am gone. Plus, we…

(Not sure if I should have done this on the forum or on my blog. )
Out of curiosity, I've looked at tons of other 6-9 week old puppies on DK.com and haven't seen any other apricot puppy that had the same similar dark coloring on the bridge of his nose with more blonde hair around his eyes quite like future pup Atticus seems to. I'm sure someone out there had a puppy that looked similar. I know there is no "one way" for any puppy to look and that their coat changes a gazillion times…

Proposed Mastectomy Law Change
(written by a surgeon);
I'll never forget the look in my patient’s eyes when I had to tell them
they had to go home with the drains, new exercises and no breast. I
remember begging the doctors to keep these women in the hospital
longer, only to hear that they would, but their hands were tied by the
insurance companies.
So there I sat with my patient giving them the instructions they
needed to take care of…

And suddenly I'm a bundle of nerves. About the silliest of stuff! Sitting here thinking about where I should have Seamus when I'm going about my day: taking care of the kids, working, cooking, cleaning, yada yada yada (with me, in the crate, etc.)...why can't I remember what we did when Tucker was a puppy??? =S Such a silly thing to worry about....
So excited to bring him home...our son will be so surprised (we've been telling him it will be NEXT weekend)!!! And I know the nerves…

My surgery came through miraculously. It was a lower back lumbar L-4/L-5 fusion with lots of other descriptive words which only my wife, a retired nurse, understands.
My doctor, Choll Kim, MD, who is in charge of the Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery Center at Alvarado Hospital did a wonderful job. I had surgery on the afternoon of May 5th (Cinco de Mayo) and I was out of bed walking the next morning and was released from the hospital at 3 PM on May 6th; 24 hours after…

I have to just tell you how nice it is to have my second doodle - as fisty as she is - even with my sleepless nights. The weather is getting nicer outside in WI and the sun comes up outside my kitchen window. Every morning I feed the doods and put them outside and check doodlekisses. I can see them as I sit at my computer. Every morning they take their nap all snuggled together in the grass with the sun coming up behind them. I'd post another pic but I think you've seen so many. It's just so…

One early morning, Charlie and I took a long walk around the neighborhood. The sun was starting to come out, and it looked as it was going to be a nice sunny spring day.
When we were almost home, she decided to stop and sit in a middle of the street.
She tilted her head this way and that, looked at this tree, and gazed at that yard.
She was watching all of these birds starting their day.
I wanted to rush her as I had to get ready for work, but I…

It's new picture day and we are so excited! We also learned that our puppy will be home just in time for Father's Day on June 12th! Perfect timing as we move to our new home on June 1st. In the pictures today personalities are starting to show. We think they are adorable and are looking forward to learning which one is ours.…

This is getting ridiculous. I am going to go broke buying TP. Why is it so appealing? Is it really that fun? Apparently..... Rose (our 5 month old GD) has ripped at least one role apart every day for the last four days. I ALWAYS close the bathroom doors. She has now learned to open them. I ALWAYS keep it put up. Yesterday the kids left it on the counter. Her newest trick is taking it OFF THE HOLDER! No joke, she pulls on it with her mouth until it pops off and then has a great time shredding it…

For those of you with only 1 dog and thinking about adding another...a little reality check :-) In the list of pros and cons to a multi-dog household...one of the cons is "more poop to pick up."
Well I recently calculated exactly what this means for my 2 labradoodles + a border collie and here is the math:…
