Must be locked up at night

Riley is accustomed to being locked up in his wire crate at night. Occassionally, I will just put him in his room and shut the door. It isn't too long before he is barking and putting up a fuss. He has to be put in his crate with door shut, before all is right with his world. Go figure!

Bella's first Dog Park Visit

Bella's shots are finished and her incision from her spaying is healed, so we all went to the dog park today for the first time. DH, Murphy, Bella and I walked over, about 1/2 mile or so, and as we got closer she started to notice all the dogs and got so excited. She decided to show everyone how big she was by barking at a huge mastif. He wasn't the least bit phased by her little white fluffy self.

We took her in on her leash, let her get a feel for all the new sights and smells and…

I LOVE Murphy Day

Murphy here,

Today is Murphy Day. Some of you call it Saturday. I get Mom up early and get the paper. She takes forever to get dressed. But finally she is ready. She buckles me and we head to the Trailhead Community Market to see all my friends. I get lots of pats and hugs.

Yes..thats the spot!

Ooooh yea...

Come and Get It

Just got an email from Doggiefood.com. They are having a 15% off sale, not unusual, but if you spend $100+ they have free shipping. Together that's a good deal. If I stock up any more food for the winter, people won't be able to eat in my dining room. But some of you may want to take advantage of this.

New Game

Kona, age 3, and Owen, 14 weeks, are getting along great. Kona has developed a new game. He goes out the doggie door in the kitchen and comes to the French door in the family room waiting for Owen to notice him. When Owen sees Kona he goes to the door wildly begging to get out. I go to the door, let him out and he attacks Kona with glee. After a minute, Kona goes in the doggie door in the kitchen, walks through the house to the French door in the family room and waits for Owen to see him. Owen… Continue

Dreams do come true!

Every morning when the world gets up we have our routine. Wake up, bathroom, take the dogs out, rush the children, shuffle the husband, sling a cup of joe that's now cold. I always find that moment to play with the girls. Then I'm off again to be caught up in the routine of life. BUT at the same time every day, seems when I'm at my craziest moment, Zoe comes front in a perfect sit and stares at me with such a pleaful stare.

It makes me melancholy. It's a mom, I know you're getting…

Bodi's first day of doggie daycare!

I posted a discussion last week asking for advice about doggie daycare . . . thanks to all of you for your words of wisdom! I took Bodi on Tuesday. He was excited when I pulled into the parking lot, but not so excited when I left. The place keeps small dogs up front with the workers, and there are two separate sections in the back for medium and large dogs. When I picked him up they told me he spent some time up front with them (he is 27 lbs.) but spent the afternoon happily with the medium… Continue

Maltese Rescue Puppies Calendar

I just got a sneak peak at the cover for the 2011 Maltese Rescue Calendar - the theme is "Puppies Born into Freedom". These are all my pictures and all the puppies were born in our home after their mothers were rescued, pregnant from deplorable conditions in puppy mills. We have had over twenty puppies born into our home this year and just had another born yesterday. We have placed all the pups, and most of the mothers, along with a couple of adult males into "furever homes". The total…

The Dreaded Cookie Party!

This is Fudge checking in this week. My mom is having a cookie party this weekend and she has been doing nothing but cleaning and baking. We are fed up! Vern wasn't here last year for the last cookie party, so he doesn't know what it is all about yet. She says she loves this party, but she yells a lot the week before. Vern is pretty messy, so she seems even grumpier this year. We are bored, so we have been making our own fun and today, we figured out how to knock the gate (well, is it just a… Continue

To the flag of the United States of America.....

I just came back from U.S.Department of Homeland Security.

Today was my day to take a citizenship test!! I studied and listen to the CD of possible 100 questions in regard to US History, civic, geography, etc... I was pretty confident, but you know, was a bit nervous... You never know. The officer said that there are reading and writting portion to the test as well... What?! I didn't read that! I had no idea that I was going to be tested for that, too!! :-(

So, he tells me that…

The PJ Discussion

I decided I should probably add this as a separate blog because I'm really feeling like I may have hijacked Cheryl's Hanukkah discussion, and I don't want to do that. It all started with Karen telling us about the great new PJs she got as a Hanukkah gift, and me saying that I should think about trading my t-shirt and sweat pants nightware for "real PJs". Anyway I just went out and looked for "doggie" PJs. I can't find any Doodle "jamies" online, but I did find these. There is one "Doodley… Continue

An update on Cash - He is full of surprises!

Cash is beginning to bloom! And what surprises he has been for us!! He is still bonded to me more than anyone else in the family. Mater is taking Tom’s attitude of “I loved one foster and it was sad when he left so I’m going to try to not let myself get attached like that again!” But with a guy as gentle and sweet as Cash, I think they can’t help it.…

smiling

Today I had a luncheon for about 10 women. My daughter had the dogs corralled in the family room while we were in the kitchen, dining room and living room. The doggie door goes into a space under the stairs and through a "cupboard" door in the kitchen. When the lunch was over and people were helping to clean up, Kona came into the kitchen through the "cupboard door" from outside. He was so shocked to see all of the strangers he barked loudly! I walked in just as he was barking. He was so… Continue

Little Dood, Finley, Finnegan (Finn) ... is recovering nicely (cross post from DRC)

Little dood is recovering this morning from his traumatic snipping yesterday at the vet. He seemed to know something was up yesterday morning when I took him out to my mom's car; she was taking him since I had to work. He didn't want to get in her car and then when they got to the building he didn't want to get out of it. When we picked him up last night he was still woozy and unsteady on his feet but he walked along glued to my side, not really sure what was going on. We got him home and… Continue
