As most of you may know, our son and DIL and 21 month old grandson moved in with us briefly until they could find a house. We now have 4 adults, 4 dogs and one baby in our home. Basically I call it "9 mouths to feed". As that is all I seem to be doing. Planning meals, shopping for meals, and then preparing and cleaning up from meals. At any given time from 4:30 am to 7:30 pm, someone is either eating, looking for food to eat, or asking what there is to eat or what we are going to eat for the…

We have an under-the-stairs closet that we "converted" into a room for Stella. I heard her rustling around in there today and this is what I found. (she obviously is feeling better after her injury, thank you so much for the well wishes!

I got together with Nigel's (a.k.a. Sugar donut) new parents and Rafi's (a.k.a. Porkchop) new owner today at a local dog park. The puppies had a great time and it was amazing how different they look. Both Nigel and Rio have the upright tail (which I am told is called a "gay tail") but Nigel is tall and lighter boned (like momma). Rafi has a long body and shorter legs like his dad but his coloring is like Lyric's. Rio seems so boxy compared to the others. His proportions are different. In…

I am originally from the UK, and emigrated to Canada 7 years ago. My sister married a South African, and moved to Australia. My Mum flits between the counties! She is currently in Australia for my nieces first birthday. Despite not being premature, Annie was born tiny (just a few pounds). She is perfectly healthy thankfully, but at almost 1 still wears clothes for 3-6 month olds.
I Skype with my sister, and have to show Annie Cooper and my cats. They dont have any pets, and…

I could kiss the inventor of this amazing gizmo. I pray he becomes a gazillionaire. After six months of feeling like a terrible pack leader, suddenly I was the dog whisperer. No pulling, lunging, or stops. From our first step out the front door, it felt like Shyla was floating alongside me. Twice I looked to make sure she was still there! Yahoo. Please don't tell me it was all a dream.

Wow! I can't beleive I went all winter without a blog post!
Things are going good in our neck on the woods.
In February my Husband and I went on our honeymoon to Disney World and Abel had to stay with Grandma and Grandpa for ten whole days! He was a sad guy but he survived.
Two days later we took him to get a dead tooth pulled. I'm sure by this point he pretty much hated us. Surgery went well, though, and he is home and happy.
Last week we moved into a new…

I think Mother Nature is just mean but Quincy was tickled pink at what we found when we went outside this morning. I was a little confused, it looked more like Christmas than Easter. Three inches of snow blanketed the ground and while it looked nice and clean, enough already. Quincy had a great time playing in it and offered no complaints. Even though it looks more like Chistmas we want to wish all our doodle friends a Happy Easter, hope the Easter Bunny brings lots of fun for…

Most of you know I have my mini dood, Peri, but her big brother is a 6.5# chihuahua Taquito! The love of my life LOL. These stories of other dogs, mainly non-doods, made me want to give you T's background...you may find it intersting:
After I graduated from college in 2004 and returned home to Nashville from Dallas, I moved into an apartment and decided I wanted a dog. My little sister had adopted a chihuahua that I just adored, so I was looking into finding one at a…

Thor came into our lives by our choice. We were going to enter the world of dog showing. Both kids had flown the nest and all their friends with them. No more soccer, no more scouts, no more hockey, no more crazy pool parties. Just us. What did other people do on Saturdays? We tried gardening - my husband hated it. We tried golf - I hated it. I had shown horses a lot when I was younger, and one dog a little. Dog shows - perfect. You pack up just like for sports, spend 10…

Brewster fell into my life a week ago today. Jacquie called me when I was in the middle of moving my daughter to her new place, getting everything together for her wedding 06/11/11, plus she wants me to make her wedding dress! I'm working on it....How could I say "no" it's a Doodle in need. Michele and I did a sort of Doodle train we kept…

Well it happened. I am always so fearful when Stella gets the puppy zoomies that she is going to hurt herself and two nights ago she did. She ran into the lever type handle on the side of the recliner and caught her front leg, yanking it back and really messing up her shoulder. She screamed and yelped for a good three minutes-freaked me out. Took her to the vet, nothing broken so she must have some tendon or ligament damage. She is on anti-inflammatories for a week and we'll see how it goes.…

This week we were working on being in "the heel zone" as I call it, basically the dog's snout stays near your knees, there's a little wiggle room but not much. If he's in "the heel zone" you can easily go left, right or stop and your dog is in position to know exactly what you're doing and adjust himself accordingly.
This is tough. We're getting better, and it's not Bern, it's us. 90% of the time a simple heel with him not pulling and…

Last Wednesday, my DD and I left for five days to go home to Indiana. I have lots of family there and we also wanted to get to the Vera Bradley Outlet sale. Fudge and Vern stayed home and my DH took the time off work to care for them and put in a deer fence. I might have been a little bossy, but I asked two things of him:
1.) Do something each day with the dogs and by do something, I did not mean allow them to watch him work in the garage.
2.) Keep them on my schedule.…

After reading the discussion..."Do you ever have second thoughts about your doodle"...I saw the reply with the Quote from Pam Houston, "...the exact right dog will always come into your life just when you need him most. The world gives us everything we need just when we need it"
I decided After I…

So we're going in to the vet's (for about the 10th time this month) in about 20 min (he works literally 5min from our house...VERY convenient), and we can't wait to hear him say "ALL CLEAR, MISS. LOLA!!" Yes, he has his own personal nickname for Lola...no one else calls her that :)
From what I can see, and smell, she seems to be all clear of the mounds of wax she had stored in there...but without my own otoscope (which I may look into getting...) who's to know.
Wish my…

It would appear as if Jack Daniels has abandoned me. Yes, ever since my mom came, AKA Jack's Grammie, my little guy is missing in action.
If I sit very still every once in a while I can catch a glimpse of him chasing my mom, being a velcro dog, not leaving her side for a minute. Rolling over on his back every chance he gets so she can rub his belly.
I call my baby, I offer him treats, he wants nothing to do with me, unless I am eating something he really…

Clover is having one of those "It's Mine" days. Everytime I turn around Clover is doing something she has been trained not to do (at least I thought so). So the saying "It went down the toilet" has finally happened. Clover dropped my cell phone in the toilet and thank goodness she hasn't learned how to flush it. Remembering other funny lists I've read before inspired me to write one just for HER!
It it's in my crate, it's mine.
If it's in my mouth, it's mine.
If it's…
