Last week Winston went in with a pretty serious ear infection in both ears that hadn't been responding to medication. In fact his ear infections have become quite chronic. The vet became concerned enough about the situation, and the fact that they never seem to fully resolve, to send off some cultures and warn me that depending on the results, there is a chance Winston's ear canals would have to be removed. Of course this sent me into fits of panicky chaos wavering from complete dread for…

It has been quite a while since I have recorded the many adventures of Sadie and Coal. Having a high school senior and a freshman, along with a third grader, two wild doodles and 29 fifth graders keeps me busy... and when I'm not busy, my brain/body is completely useless!
Sadie and Coal will be a year old on November 25th, and we have come a loooooong way since…

Yesterday while we were out and about enjoying the beautiful fall day, we decided to take a walk downtown to grab a little lunch. Just as we were parking the car we spotted this beauty prancing down the sidewalk.
I instantly broke Commandment #10.…

After a long break, I have a new litter here--the momma is a comfortable guest in my house as she has had litters here before--she will now be retired--but luckily, she had 6 more cuties for us first!
They are all doing really well--there are three girls and three boys! These were taken today at 24 days old--they are playing, wagging tails, licking faces and even using the puppy pads! So, life is good!
For those of you who do not know, I raise pups for a breeder--they are all…

Today's my birthday. It was to be a time of celebration. I was planning to reconnect on doodkisses and announce my big news, that I am on a leave from my government job to start my own freelance business. You see, over the past few years I have slowly built up a new set of skills in web and graphic design, social media marketing, etc. I was gearing up to offer my services to new entrepreneurs who need help launching their business online. I want to eventually specialize in helping pet…

My dogs are pretty easy going at home, but they do expect two walks per day. Fudge would be willing to let me slide on the walks, but Vern is unrelenting and there are no excuses that he is willing to hear when it comes to those walks. We walk in all kinds of weather and I could rival the postal system delivering mail when it comes to our daily schedule because neither snow, nor rain, nor heat, nor gloom of night, nor the…

It's hard for me to believe that last Thursday, September 18 marked a whole year since I anxiously opened the very first picture of Ragley and her newborn litter mates all snuggled up to her mom. I spent endless hours staring at that single picture, wondering which one would be mine and hoping ardently that my breeder would post more pictures. Oh, how far I have come!
There are no words that can adequately describe just how much she has touched my life. I am a total crazy dog lady and…

It’s no secret that we recently became grandparents and just got back from Oregon after our first visit with little Archer.
The week before the visit I was in a panic about my dogs. My regular pet sitter only watches dogs in the summer and has…

Life is good. Reagan is showering me with love. Working consistency with training. Potty training is going very well. I have supplied her with several small puppy toys and the only other thing she seems to want to chew on are my toes! She loves when I pour the toys on the floor when she is running free. Reagan has already learned to walk beside me as opposed to ahead or circle me. She knows that night, night means to go in crate at bedtime and heads in. During the day crate training? I…

Lady Belle – Adventures of a Blind Doodle - #6 – Wedding Bells
Belle here,
I thought I’d catch you up on events in my life in the last month. We settled into a nice routine. Mom, dad, and I get up in the morning. That means its “walk time.” So we go on a long walk. Almost always both mom and dad are with me. Lately dad’s been relaxing the leash to let me explore and sniff a bit. I know this route so well, I lead the way. Lately they’ve been asking me to stop and sit…

I cannot urge people strongly enough to have identification microchips inserted into their dogs. This is Annabel whom we rescued from a local shelter. She had been a stray with no identification. Most of the dogs we receive that were strays are in very poor condition. Living on the streets is not conducive to a dog's health or looks. Annabel was in primo shape and had been professionally groomed. I am sure that no one just dumped this beautiful dog...…

Leo is 4 months old now. We just completed puppy school 1 and moving on to puppy school 2. He is doing well with house training to a bell. He had his 1st grooming experience and it was not so good. He did good but I didn't like the way they did his hair. Off to a new groomer, the last one really liked the poodle look on him. I will go with pictures of doodles I like and see if that helps. He went to puppy social time too. He played with other puppies in a nice safe place. He loves…

Unfortunately, Olga and Chloe's adoption of Sully did not work out. It was no fault of Sully who behaved exceptionally well and was a gentleman at all times. It seemed like Chloe had problems with another dog in the family. It was O.K. visiting Sully but when it came to him traveling back to Arizona with Chloe and Olga, Chloe had other ideas....
However, Cindy and Bob Johnson were waiting in the wings and ready to give Sully a furever home. They live in Northern California so, it…

My mom and I have always had a love/like relationship when my dogs are involved. I love my Doodles and my mom likes them. My mom isn’t a dog person and doesn’t really understand my fascination with dogs. We are not sure at this point what kind of person my mom is, because dogs and babies are really not her thing. Since Megan had her baby, my mom has taken to reminiscing about the pitfalls of motherhood. Just the other day she was telling me she realized early on that having kids might…

Yes, little Archer Ford is here. He arrived on Tuesday after keeping us waiting for a long time. Megan was induced Monday night and I woke up on Tuesday expecting a baby, only to find out not much was happening. As the day stretched into night, it became apparent to me that my future grandson did not realize that his grandma was very impatient and did not like to be kept waiting. I even texted my son-in-law around 4 pm that this kid was really starting to get on my nerves, hoping he…

Olga and Chloe drove in from Tucson to meet Sully and it was love at first sight. Olga and Chloe loved Sully and he thought that his furever mom and doodle sister are wonderful. Olga and Chloe will come by our house tomorrow morning to pick up Sully for the drive to his new home in Tucson. …

I caught this 40-pound roosterfish fishing off Rancho Leonero on Baja California's East Cape about an hour north of Cabo San Lucas.
I also caught quite a few yellowfin tuna of about 20-25 pounds and a couple of large bull dorado (AKA: mahi-mahi).
However, I am most proud of the roosterfish which was the best of the season from Rancho…
