What Are The Odds?

For several reasons today I was excused and sent home early! YEAH. Happily escaping through the parking lot I approach my husband's huge van when it occurred to me that the keys only fit the ignition not the door.

Luckily where I work they will break you in for free but it takes a good 45 mins some days. There I stand dejected for a good five minutes. So much for getting to leave early.

So there I stand, and stand, and pace, and stand, and pace some more, as I watch for the… Continue

Doodle Days

Im sitting on my bed, after a tiring day at work, and my Goldendoodle Welly is snuggled up on my bed too. I never allowed dog's on my bed.... until I got Welly. We've been out on the beach in the dark with our newest toy - a glow in the dark bally. I never used to walk on the beach in the dark.... until I got Welly.

Im wondering if soon we'll win the lottery and I can become a full-time doodle mum. We'll buy a camper van and go on a tour of the UK, just me and my Welly.

Welly… Continue

Rusty Update

Rusty saw Dr. Huber yesterday and had his sutures removed, for which he was very appreciative; Dr. Huber said that his recovery was doing very well and he did not see anything for us to worry about from the

surgery. We then met Dr. Macy, the oncologist, who is very nice; he came

in and said my name is Dennis and sat down on the floor with Rusty. Dr.

Macy discussed the various Chemotherapy options that are available for treating

Rusty (they are all the…

Contemplations on being unemployed...

There are some upsides of being unemployed. I have taken the last 2 weeks to savor some well deserved down time. I have to admit that it was a bit of a transition to go from working 55 to 60 hours a week with 24/7 oncall to loads of time on my hands. But I have figured out how to…

Smiles for Sunday

I put some dog cartoons in an album. It's easier to send folks there than to transfer them here so:

And the verdict is in...

Last week I shared with you that the judge was to hand down sentencing to ChemNutra. ChemNutra was responsible for importing vegetable proteins tainted with melamine resulting in agony, heartbreak and loss for too many fur parents in 2007 ~ forced to say goodbye long before they should have. The result? The consequences were established as three years of probation and a $35,000 fine! For the moment I have no words to express my thoughts on this, unbelievable. I had held back in sharing…

breeder advice

Hello all Doodle Lovers! My family is currently looking to purchase a doodle and would love some breeder recommendations! We live in Richmond, VA but will drive to find the perfect pet for our family. We have 2 children, 7 and 4 and they LOVE dogs! We would like a black or chocolate medium sized doodle. Any recommendations for breeders??? Thanks so much and we can't wait to be part of the "doodle society"!

I'm spoiled by Callie's cuteness!

I have gotten so accustomed to people admiring Callie when we're out and about that I've found that I'm mildly offended when people don't comment upon her adorableness. Does anyone else feel that way?

Black GoldenDoodle in Need of Adoption

Many of you mention in posts you are thinking of adding another doodle to your pack. Have you ever thought about adoption? This girl is listed on DRC but her pictures just do not do her justice.

Meet Hailey. She is an 8 month old black goldendoodle, 50lbs and growing. Right now she is on the skinny side but after eating 10lbs of food the first week in my home, she has me convinced she is growing! Her coat is…

There Is Something In Your Dog That You Cannot Own

I came across this and really loved it. It's by Carol Lea Benjamin who wrote "Mother Knows Best - The Natural Way To Train Your Dog".

There is something in your dog that you cannot own - maybe it's the call of the wild. There is a dogness there you can only begin to admire, but, try as you will, you cannot possess or even fully understand it. Trained or not, he'll always be his own dog to a degree. He is yours to enjoy and care for. You can neither change his true…

Snow Day

Just came inside from a romp in the snow. Went out to go potty and stayed out for almost an hour. We are in the middle of a blizzard so it has been an inside day. When we got outside it wasn't so bad so stayed to have some fun. The bad part is now we have one wet snowbally doodle. Oh well, it was worth it.

Clueless Callie

It is completely foreign to my sweet little Callie that another dog might NOT want to play with her! At my sister's last weekend, she kept trying to play with their 14 year old lhasa/shi-tzu mix, Scoobie. Scoobie has been a cranky curmudgeon since she was a puppy, and this has not improved with age. Callie would run up to Scoobs, bump her with her nose, and then jump back. Scoobie's invariable response was to turn around barking, growling, and snapping. Since Scoobie doesn't have two teeth…

Oh My Aching Back!

No more bending over the bath tub for this double doodle mom! I'm too old for that stuff! New tub just arrived last night. Now I just need to find a faucet system and get it hooked up and we are good to go! Goodbye acheing back! As you can see Lucy had no problem with it, but Sophie is afraid of it. So far we have managed to get her to touch it with her nose (after about 30 mins), but she won't get in it yet!…

Crate this!!

The great crate debate... Here we are anticipating this new puppy in our little town home south of Denver. In one of the 30 or 40 questions I ask the breeder, I try to figure out what kind of crate to buy. She initially crate trains the puppies and highly recommends that we follow through with crate training when we get home.

Now I've never done this before...we always just house trained our dogs by taking them out frequently and leaving lots of newspapers around…
