So Piper is growing up! He lost his first tooth on Sunday and has lost 5 more since then! At this rate, he will have to be on a liquid diet soon! It is a little gross, I have to say. Even Piper doesn't want to play tug as much with his toys because he must have some wiggly teeth in there that feel weird! I felt like a proud mother when he lost the first one. I guess that makes me a crazy dog lady...but that's ok! :o)
Okay friends I'm going to try and put this into words. Astro and I attended a no jumping class last night. It was good! This is funny...you use no words/commands/hand signals. Our trainer explained that dogs learn best when they make the decision to do something on their own and are rewarded for "it". No pushing down their bottom, no yelling out a command, no bullying them.
To work on this you need your dog, lots of very small (think tic tac) sized treats, a leash, another… Continue
Phoebe has decided that she loves the sound of he own voice so much that she wants to share it with us throughout the day. Sometimes the reason for her barking is obvious--like the garage door opening across the street or the big black lab behind us is playing outside. Other times, I am clueless as to why she starts but I am certain she has a reason in her little doodley head. I have tried spraying her with water but, true to doodle form, she loves water and has made a game of it. I have tried… Continue
Rusty developed a small growth on the inner thigh of his left leg around Thanksgiving; we took him to our Vet in mid December and she did a biopsy and Ultrasound and said she thought that it was a hernia or muscle tear and to check it again in 30 days. The growth began to expand rapidly over the next 30 days and she did another biopsy last week. It came back 50-50 that it was malignant; she referred us to an Oncologist Surgeon who did a more extensive biopsy Monday. The results came back on… Continue
Many of you have watched our Rose grow up on DK. I have posted about her sock eating and T.P. shredding incidences and have shared numerous pictures and videos (most recently her birthday party) of her growing up.
Rose was our pick of the litter and has brought us so much joy. We have adored her and enjoyed her antics. She is amazingly sweet and well socialized. We had high hopes of adding her to our breeding program, but unfortunately it wasn't meant to be. She would have been an… Continue
On January 8th we got a new Labradoodle puppy, Luna, to join our household of Eric (my boyfriend), myself, Maggie our 17 month Labradoodle, and Loki, our cat. We got Luna at 7 weeks old and she is 75% standard poodle, and 25% lab. Maggie is a 50-50 mix. We were both nervous and wondering what we were getting ourselves into. Why get another puppy when Maggie is truly the most perfect dog either of us had ever owned? But we were excited about the possibility of having two wonderful… Continue
I've recently started cross country skiing with my boy Quincy. We do most of our skiing at a local camp ground where the ski club keeps the trails groomed. He has to be kept on a leash at all times. He does really well most of the time. He is learning not to pull me(although sometimes its fun). He especially loves the downhill sections as he gets to run all out. The problem is that when he gets excited he grabs the leash and pulls me sideways. He's pulled me down a few times but nothing serious… Continue
I adore my new DSLR camera !!! I haven't gotten into the do it yourself mode yet. Trying out all the bells and whistles using the dials and scene mode has been lot's of fun. What a huge difference I am noticing in my close ups of the doods, plus the indoor shots don't have red or white eye anymore..... I usually don't do too many pics indoors, but now I won't be afraid if trying to capture some of those cute and not so cute things they do inside… Continue

We have two Goldendoodles, and a friend of ours is looking for one that needs a good, loving home.
If anyone hears anything contact me by email at: dawnhuebner@gmail.com
After much deliberation, combing through lots and lots of discussions, and agonizing, I came to a decision.
I was brushing through Darwin today, and found three matts on his chest. I knew it must be the beginning of the dreaded coat change. I have to say I AM prepared. I bought a new brush, and i have already developed the habit of completely line brushing him every night. But after working on those matts for 20 minutes, his fur was red and sore and he hated it the whole… Continue
The "caring canine" goldendoodle from my elementary school (she belongs to the school counselor and spends her day at school) came to my house today to play with my doods--As I expected they were INSTANT FRIENDS!! I just realized that I didn't take any pics! I will next time! Lyric and CC are so much alike--they played the most with Mattie standing by trying to get into the act. She is smaller, so they kind of ignored her! Both Lyric and CC like to "own" the toys, but they didn't fight about… Continue
I'm at the office right now and I miss Callie! Hopefully, Callie is behaving nicely and is not chewing up the new sofa or tearing down the curtains I hung (all by myself...I am woman hear me ROAR) yesterday. I think Callie and I had too much fun yesterday...we played chase all over the house, went on long walks in the rain (we do such romantic things, me and my dood!), and did lots of good snuggling. Now I'm being my professional self (taking a small DK break!) and wishing I had that sweet… Continue
Rosco does this EVERY time Clark takes off his slippers.
It's even funnier, but harder to film, in the bedroom where he squeezes in between the wall and the bed and flails himself around in a far-too-small space for the sake of enjoying the aroma while hunching his… Continue
Yesterday I had a fabu party at my house. The doodlicious Lady Peri stopped by with her people and so did my half brother Timbow. Timbow traveled over four hours to come visit. We were supposed to all meet at the Dog Park...but alas the weather did not cooperate. My people said we will have our Doodle Day at home. For safety reasons my brother, Smudge, stayed in the bedroom. He is a really cool cat. I just didn't think he would truly enjoy himself with all the romping going on. The good news… Continue
It was four years ago today that Jackdoodle came home. In some ways, it seems like only yesterday; yet at the same time, it seems like we've been together forever. I think that's probably true of all great love stories.
Jack is my best friend, my confidante, my protector, my constant companion, my lastborn child, and my reason for getting out of bed every day. He makes me laugh, cry, walk, run, play, worry, sing, dance, and count my blessings. He has brought me wonderful new friends, new… Continue
We have a big TV in the basement family room and that is where I like to watch movies. When I just had Yankee, he would lay on the couch beside me or with his head on my lap while I watched DVD's. Well, Finn has decided that he also likes to lay on the same couch. So, now if I watch a movie, the dogs have to jockey for position to see who gets to lay beside me. Yankee will grab a toy to get Finn's interest so he will jump off the couch. Then Yankee will take his spot on the… Continue
Well, it finally happened on Lyric's 1 1/2 birthday! She is fully in heat now after a very small one at around one year of age. Her breeder and I decided to wait until she is 2 years old to breed her. She is still so immature--very puppy-ish. I don't want to rush her into anything. Since she is an ALD, I think the papa will be as well. Can't wait until the next heat--that should be the one for breeding! I will be retired by then, so I will have lots of time at home to be with her.
well...chicken and rice for the last day or so has helped trememdously and Duncan's DOOdle is back to normal. For that I am thrilled....but now i'm noticing that his breath smells like DOO! Yes. It's bizarre. I'm wondering if this is related at all. It's been off now for the last few days. I kept thinking it was his rear end that was stinkin' but it's his breath. And even his toys after they get slobbered on smell poopie.
Hypothetically speaking...lets say he ate a piece of his or… Continue
