Another day in the life of Webster, the reading dog:
It was a rainy, foggy Lookout Mtn. day. I had forgotten how so many winter days on the mountain are like that. We took a little walk in our new rain gear on the track around the playground. Web recognizes the scents on the trail already. Then we headed to the front door - but first I had to have a photo of him before we went in. As soon as we walked in the door, I realized I had not connected his indoor short leash to his collar…

Funny how you never notice how you accumulate things until just before company arrives. Then suddenly you look at your house through your guest’s eyes. My guest probably thought I was running an in-home day care (or jail) because of all the doggie gates we have. There is the 1 blocking the family room to foyer door, then the 1 between the family room and kitchen. And the 1 between the foyer and dining room; not to mention the ex-pen keeping the living room off limits. Oh! We can’t forget the 3…

We adopted a black golden doodle, who has become one of our family very fast... however he was so matted we need to have him shaved down so he could regrow out. I noticed about 4 weeks ago his hair was not growing back in spots. My groomer said this is probably a thyroid problem, He eats fine, acts fine, and doesn't show any sign of irritation.
Also, does anyone out there recommended any special food for the bread?
Any advice out there would help

Man, I am being bombed with gas!!! Samson has been dropping bombs like crazy! I have changed his food from puppy to adult food. He's eating Rachael Ray's Nutrish. He loves it but he was doing bombs on puppy food, not as much, but he still did it! Gosh, the gas is HORRIBLE!
Do I wear a gas mask all day???

Being a first time dog owner, I never realized how much love you can have for an animal. Holly has been sick all day, and I feel so sad and helpless! She was fine when we left the house at 8:30, and thankfully my husband stopped home at 10:30. He found Holly in her kennel surrounded by vomit, looking very sick. He immediately called me and we took her to the vet at 11:00. She vomited twice on the way there. The vet said he does not feel any obstructions or bloating, but she does have a fever.…

We went to a new facility for a therapy visit today and we encountered one gentleman that just loved Sophie. He wanted to give her his potato chips and when I said no that she had some treats, she better not have any, he said well I have a can of Alpo! Anyway, someone else in the area asked me how old she was and I said she would be 2 in a couple months ..... the man immediately said "We have to have a birthday party for her". I thought that was so cute. Then a little while later we ran into…

My dam is 55 days and huge. she has at least 11 pups, possibly 12 or 13. I'm just babying her until her 59th day which is your gestation day, next Tuesday! I really hope she makes it very close to that. I don't think I'll be leaving her until she starts delivering.

No, she didn't eat the DVD, or the DVD case, if that's what you're expecting (not that anyone would be shocked!). It's winter time, and much like Callie, I've found that I put on a bit of a winter coat. However, I don't think mine (which is made of ice cream and cheese) is nearly as cute as her furry locks. Callie and I walk a lot, but I decided that I need to start doing pilates again to try and tone myself out of the extra padding. So tonight I was doing my formerly fave pilates dvd and…

My labradoodle Bella scratches herself a lot. She is just 15 weeks old. I have her a bath today and she is still doing it. Is this normal?

Today is Chewie's first day of puppy daycare. I hope he is having a good time. I felt almost like it was my son's first day of daycare!! I hope the other puppies are being nice to him. I would hate for him to be picked on. He is so submissive around other dogs. I always want to jump in at puppy class and "protect" my baby. But I understand that he needs to learn to play with other dogs to be a socially well rounded adult dog. Thanks for listening. I was sitting here wondering how his day was…

Lucy turns 11 weeks old tomorrow. Yesterday she got her 2nd set of shots and the vet gave her the go ahead to attend a local facility's Puppy Romp and Puppy Classes. Also he said she could start walking in the neighborhood as long as we stuck to sidewalks. Up till now we've been practicing on lead walking indoors and on the back patio. Lucy walks very well at home so I was real curious how things would go out in the real world. Last night we took her for her first offical WALK.
At…

Someone knocked on our front door. Which was odd because I had put a sign up a few weeks ago asking people NOT to knock or ring the bell unless we were expecting them (due to the fact I could be nursing or sleeping at any given moment and unable to answer and didn't want to be awakened by dogs barking). So Clark peeked out the peep hole and decided whoever was on the other side of the door seemed decent. I heard "What color was the dog?" "Black" and quickly assumed the loose…

PORK CHOPS

In a zoo in California , a mother tiger gave birth to a rare set of triplet tiger cubs.
Unfortunately, due to complications in the pregnancy, the cubs were born prematurely
and due to their tiny size, they died shortly after birth
The mother tiger after recovering from the delivery, suddenly started to decline in health,
although physically she was fine. The veterinarians…

I came home last night from my 6 day vacation. Duncan was thrilled to see me.
Duncan had spent the first 3 days at my sister-in-law's house where he scarfed down his "cousin" Casey's wet food at every meal. (he usually eats only dry kibble which he didn't touch) so this might have been where everything began...day 4 he spent with my friend and her dog and that seemed a bit better although he wouldn't eat much of his kibble... but days 5 and 6 he got real mopey ate nothing and started to…

Ever since my sweet Remington Bear entered our household he has loved sleeping by the toilet. I don't know if he feels safe and confined there or maybe its cold in that area... I dunno... but when I go to bed at night, he makes his way to his favorite spot!

Well... I get a call yesterday afternoon from Dan telling me that the floor in our bathroom is soaked with water and we have a leak in the toilet. The water valve was shooting…

In the last 48 hours there have been 3 posts regarding fencing .... resulting in 2 tragedies and one averted tragedy! I think that we need to declare this National DoodleKisses Double Check Your Fence Day! Whether you have vinyl, aluminum, wood, wire, or even invisible fencing, take a moment and walk your fence line. Check all your boards and posts and make sure they are sturdy and strong. If you have invisible fencing, check your batteries, double check your boundaries, test your dog and make…
