We take Darwin to my parents house every now and then to visit, and let him run around in the backyard. It's a one acre lot, and full of fun interesting smells. There are horses on both sides of my parents lot, and he loves to run up to the fence and stare at them. It really makes me long for a backyard. We live in an apartment, and although we frequently take him to dog parks and hiking trails... nothing compares to a big yard. Hopefully in the next couple years we can find a home with a…

After much deliberation we finally decided we would let Darwin up on the couch with us. My husband and I are both happy we did. He is so much more snuggly now that he is getting older, and during the evening he will curl up and cuddle all night. I feel like it has made us both happier now that we have that physical bonding where I can just pet and scratch him for a few hours. We work during the day so I think it's important that he gets that one on on time when we get home.…

Yup! The Hopeless Doodle Addict Trophy has arrived at a new addict's house. Due to my extreme doodle addiction I received the terrific star accompanied by the terrible towel (Steelers Superbowl 2009 towel) which I will proudly wave. I took my trophy and towel to share with my students. Of course, the kids thought Ned won the star trophy - they already think he is a famous star anyway. Thank you doodlekisses for making me what I am today -
Doodle Obsessed! Soon I will pass this treasure…

I should probably be posting this on the Medical group page, but I really didn't find much there in my search. I just talked to the vet, and she is diagnosing Guinness with IBS. All of his tests came back negative which leaves IBS as the most probable diagnosis. She said his diet will be critical. She is recommending home cooking for him going forward. She also warned that he should not ingest any "foreign" substances (leaves, twigs, even threads from toys), as this would most likely trigger an…

Sophie went for her 1st Paw Pal Visit today with Vitas Hospice. She is assigned to visit Mary, a hospice patient 2 - 3 times per month. She did really well for her first visit to this facility. Our biggest challenge in doing Therapy Work is that all of the facilities have birds, and Sophie loves birds! She spots them as soon as we get in the door ..... even before I do! It is like she has bird radar! I've included a picture of her in her Purple Paw Pal Heart. It has her name on the front, and…

I am so in love with this dog...that sometimes, I want to burst!! He is so cute, adorable and yes, he can be a pain, but I feel all his good traits outweigh the pain in the butt things he does.
I found out yesterday that the breeder that I got Samson from is having another litter to be born on January 30th!!! She lives nearby so I hope I can go and visit the new puppies. I think she has a waiting list. Samson was from her first litter ever. She had never bred Labradoodles before so…

Hi everyone,
I have not posted in months and wanted you guys to know that we have been through a lot...me and my doodle girls.
I spent some time in the hospital due to my illness and between parental needs (dad 90 and mom79), and our Molly's health issues I have been extremely busy. I have read a lot of the posts of late and totally agree about the decision of breeders being on the site. It is a difficult decision to pick a dog when dealing with a long distance breeder. I have…

Hello,
I just rescued a beautiful little doodle who has a bad habit of biting. Any suggestions on how to correct this. Also, he seems to hate the crate. I throw treats in since he is very food motivated, and he hesitates to get them, but since he loves food, the temptation to not get it is too strong so he will try to grab the treat and get out before I close the door. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

We were returning from a trip to visit family in Texas and had stopped at a truck stop gas station outside of Dallas. I was walking two of our Maltese. We traveled in our motorhome with four Maltese and our Holly - who is now two years old and 65-70 pounds.
As I was pottying the Maltese, a van came rolling up with two ragged young men. One of them asked me if I wanted to buy a home entertainment center. When I said "No, thanks", he pressed the issue and said. "Come on, we have one…

This frigid weather has given Harlow a major case of the zoomies. It doesn’t matter if the boys are out with her or not. She flies around the backyard, bouncing, spinning and leaping over low bushes. She will stay outside for over 30 minutes until I bundle up, get the leash and go get her. The boys on the other hand hate the cold and stay outside just long enough to do their business. Every now and then Harlow gets to play a bit. This is only because she blocks the back steps so the boys can’t…

Okay...I need to write this as my husband and I could not believe it!! And I want to remember this! We were scammed by a Doodle!!!
I had these two plumbers over to fix my 1/2 bath off my laundry room. We only have a half basement (I live in a ranch brick house) and the basement is basically a crawl space. Some fittings were leaking and my husband tried to put a new faucet on the sink in the 1/2 bath and the old metal pipes under the sink basically were rotting away!! I HAD to get the…

For some reason, today, Toby has lost all his manners. He is acting like a stupid, untrained little puppy. He is almost 17 months old, and today, he has been running at me, jumping, barking, refusing to behave.....just awful. He hasn't acted like this for months, literally. I've had to crate him three times for misbehaviour, and that is very unusual. He was groomed yesterday....could that be it? I just cannot figure out this huge change in behaviour and attitude. I was almost in tears tonight.…

A POEM, BY MY SISTER (AKA KRIS HOMSTAD)
Ice Ice Baybe
The picture topic was DOODS n SPORTS,
And Nance and Hel had ideas of all sorts.
Deciding they would go ice fishing,
They got together their props and things.
With Mom & I watching through the window,
The gals set out to make a video.
The neighbors constantly woofing hound,
Kept barking as they goofed around.
They wanted to title it: "Grumpy Old Bitches",
We…

I am so frustrated. We went through a terrible time with Giardia about 6 weeks ago, and I'm thinking it's starting all over again. He had loose stools yesterday so I brought in a stool sample to the vet. During the middle of the night he started with really bad diarrhea which has continued all morning. He's now also throwing up the yellow bile. I have a vet appointment this afternoon, but I'm pretty sure the giardia is back. I have been so careful with him. He hasn't been to the dog pen and we…

My grandson is blind, has cerebral palsy, but is able to walk, he only says
a few words, but is learning more. He is 10 years old and has just started
to like dogs in the past year, he was scared of them before. His parents
would like a medium sized dog and they need a dog that is already trained.
If anyone has any ideas, please contact me. Thanks.
