Bella's first hike...she cried the whole time!

Some of you might know that we just moved to Arizona from Florida because of many things, but one in particular is that we love the beautiful mountains and trails to hike on.

I originally got Murphy to run and then hike with and have taken him everywhere and he has literally scaled mountains that go vertical and we slide down. No fear, just that look of "Are you serious?" No whining, no stopping to lick his paws, no compaints what so ever. Now we have Bella Bee, or Princess Bella. She…

It's been confirmed...I am DOODLE CRAZY !

I have been on this site for 2.5 years and never really paid attention to the scoring system until recently. I just wanted to have some cute title to put on some DK business cards to hand out at our Az. Doodle Romps. So I just got really excited to see that I just jumped up to another catagory!!!  Oh it's the little things in life that make one happy. That or I am just easily entertained? Not sure which.

Is there ANYTHING she won't eat!!???!!!

Just need to share, (or vent) that I have never known a dog to eat as much Non-food items as my Bella. I swear she must have the makings of a hardware store in her belly by now!  I figure most will come out one end or the other eventually, but it's the stuff that will get stuck or perforate that concerns me.  I just can't figure out what it is that attracts her to this "stuff". Plastic, cardboard, sticks, rocks, fabric, socks, underwear, metal, stuffed animals, paper anything, pens, pencils,…

Bella the Belle of the dog park

Bella is just about 6 months old and has such an outgoing personality! We have only had her to the dog park about 5-6 times and she just runs in there ready to make new friends, canine and human like she has been there everyday of her life.  It is such a pleasure to see how she interacts with other dogs, how she goes up to other people and snuggles near their legs and lets them pet her and how she runs to play and then turns around to check in with me every once in awhile.

Just a joy…

Who IS this new puppy Mom?

I bought a new full length mirror today and Miss Nosey aka Bella, has sniffed, pawed, licked and nosed this for the past hour. She is fixated on the "puppy" that I just added to her pack and is trying so hard to get her to play with her,…

My Murphy is 2 today!!!!!

So hard to believe he is 2 already. He is such a joy. He's had a day filled with hugs and belly rubs and bully sticks and a HUGE bone. He spent hours chewing away. Dad found a really cool gift at the sporting good store. It's a bird used to train hunting dogs.  He loves it!!!  Just wanted to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my #1 doodle.   (oops, sideways :) …

If doodle #1 could talk, what would he say about doodle #2?

Murphy is just lounging near the hall, waiting for his dad to come back in from the garage. He lifts his head as Bella walks by, then lays back down. "Oh, it's you". "I'm waiting for MY dad, go find some tissue or socks or whatever it is you DO"

Bella pounces on his back and the "play" wrestling begins. Murphy looks at me with a look of "REALLY Mom!" "WHY did you do this to me?"…

Having two seems NORMAL now.

We had our daughters doodle Marley for 4 days and that makes 3 doodles running around. Marley is almost 3 yrs old and about 80 pds, Murphy is 2 next week and 66 pds and Bella the baby is 5 months old and about 40 pds. They all play very well together, but there is a lot of wrestling and play biting going on all day. They all love to be around me when I'm home so I was having to watch where I walked constantly. It surprised me how much more commotion one more doodle in the house…

A Banfield Vet story.

I am embarassed to say I have the Wellness Plan at Banfield, long story having to do with ear infections and it has probably really saved me about $1500.00 in the last year with all the visits for chronic problems, but it is a chain and some people have had good and some bad experiences with them. Mine were ok, nothing terribly wrong or wonderfully exemplary either. They believe in Science Diet, see no way I could possibly be giving my dogs sufficient nutrients with homecooking or people…

Bella's first Dog Park Visit

Bella's shots are finished and her incision from her spaying is healed, so we all went to the dog park today for the first time. DH, Murphy, Bella and I walked over, about 1/2 mile or so, and as we got closer she started to notice all the dogs and got so excited. She decided to show everyone how big she was by barking at a huge mastif. He wasn't the least bit phased by her little white fluffy self.

We took her in on her leash, let her get a feel for all the new sights and smells and…

Does your doodle put himself to bed or wait up with you?

Our Murphy always waited for us to go to bed and even if only one of us went to bed, he's stay up and "protect" the awake one. Just recently he started going to bed with the earlier retiring parent and just last week he went to bed all by himself, leaving both of us up and watching TV. We had to go look for him!!!

Makes me wonder what changes to cause this? He has done it once before but he got up when he realized we weren't going to join him anytime soon, so I don't think it's the…

Pumpkin hoarding - UPDATE

I have been waiting anxiously for the pumpkin season to resume due to the shortages we all felt last year. I guess I have never been so aware of pumpkin in the stores as I have over this past year. It always seemed readily available whenever I needed it for the holidays, and otherwise,I never gave it any thought.

I don't even know if pumpkin is carried in the stores year round! Never noticed! So with the shortage of 2010 fresh in my mind, and the memories of going store to…

Bella's first month home.

Bella has been with us for one month now and it's definitely getting better around here! We have gotten the potty training down pretty good, she has gone to the door since about her 2nd week here (12 weeks old). She hasn't had an accident for over a week now, so that's been nice. We have been wiping her with baby wipes after she pees and she will even lift her back leg for us.

She has learned to stay…

Second week with "Mia Bella"

Bella continues to amaze me with her doodle intelligence. We thought Murphy was quick to learn, but she is just amazing. She is just 12 weeks and already has been going to the door to go potty, sits and even does a short "stay". She is so much fun for Murphy and she plays with him and then gives him his space when he goes off by himself. I have not had to crate her to give him alone time at all. She goes right into her pen when we need to go out and always comes running when we say "Come…

Murphy's sister Bella is right at home.

Bella is doing great. It's been one week and she has learned so much. She now sit's when asked, and knows to sit to wait for her food. She has gone to the door a few times to go out, but still has had an accident or two, but that is still our faults. She is nipping less and kissing more and has learned that she can sleep in our bed with us or go lay on the floor with Murphy during the…

Having Puppy Deja Vu

We have decided to add another doodle to our family and Bella will be arriving in 2 weeks from today. I find myself feeling and doing some very familiar things and thinking that “ I have been here before”. I am pulling out all the “Puppy Training” books I read so diligently just 2 years ago, waiting anxiously for any post or picture update from our fantastic breeder, (Yes, same one again, of…

Many changes happening in Murphy's life

Murphy is 15 months old thursday. He has been with us most of every hour of every day since he was 8 weeks old. He stays within sight or sits with us on beds or couches day and night. He loves to ride in the car with us no matter where we're going, so we take him with us a lot.

He is allowed access to the potty yard every few hours as someones always going in and out and he accompanies, so holding his bladder for more than 4 hours has never been a real issue for him. He has been living…

UPDATE #2 on " Honey...Dinner will be late....Murphy ate the meatloaf!!!!"

As earlier posted we did get thru the first night with no problems, a little soft but formed stool, but during the next 72 hours we have had vomiting and diarrhea both. The diarrhea started the next day, feb 18th, which was thurs and the vomiting started Sat. night and again a few hours ago. He is going to the vet in the am, is otherwise looking and acting normal. There is no obvious blood in the stool but it is mucousy. Poor baby. Not sure if it's from the meat, or he contacted…

Stuffed toys

How is it that so many of these playful doodles in the slideshow have intact stuffed animals and my grand-doodle (1yr old) Marley can eat a cloth Kong toy to shreds in 20 mins? And forget about ANYTHING with stuffing!!!!! Is that something you can teach them NOT to do?
