Alright, I already know Oscar believes ALL toys are HIS. From the day we brought him home at 8 weeks he made that very clear. He was the smallest male of his litter and maybe he learned it then. He had to be assertive to get what he wanted. By 'assertive' I mean patient and able to take advantage of an opportunity. He's smart and not mean in the least. No aggressive tendencies and no 'resource guarding'. If there's a toy another dog has that he wants, he will most definitely get it in the…

Many thanks to Bob, Matt, and Sophie for hosting our first ever Bucks County Doodles Romp last Sunday! Dogs and people had a lot of fun and Sophie's backyard was just perfect for doodle antics! Sophie is the sweetest girl with the most gorgeous red coat. Some of you may remember that Sophie was seriously ill not too long ago so it was great to see her healthy and running again! Yay! We loved meeting Bob, Matt and Sophie, Adrienne and Dougie, Alla and Baila (founder of the group), Marcie,…

My Boys are fine, but life for me is truly the pits when the Boys aren’t feeling well. It’s the one time when I wish either they could speak or I could bark!
When Leo’s not at 100% he’ll look at you with those heart breaking eyes and try as he might, we just can’t seem to connect.

To honor the memory of Brooke Jackman, who at the age of 23 perished during the attacks on the World Trade Center, Paz and I worked at the Brooke Jackman Read-A-Thon at Barnes & Noble in Tribeca (Lower Manhattan, near the World Trade Center site) this past Saturday (Sept. 7), which is an event sponsored by the Brooke Jackman Foundation; this foundation has opened the door to literacy for so many children and moms we serve at the Brooklyn…

I knew my Boys were fond of riding. They are (what one would call) my “road dogs” (pun intended)…
The car is always packed and ready for any unscheduled, impromptu excursions. And they are always up for a road trip!
Whether it’s…

We got a phone call from the Barstow, California Humane Society saying that they had a 3.5 pound Maltese that was scheduled to be put down unless a rescue group came to pull him from the shelter. We put a hold on the "Maltese" and I took the 160-mile trip from my home to Barstow.
The 3.5 pound Maltese turned out to be close to twelve pounds and certainly did not look like any Maltese I had ever seen. I asked about the weight and was told that they…

Vern has this thing that he does every time we go to leave in our car. It starts as I open the front door. Vern charges outs and spins around to prevent Fudge from getting out the door, unless she wants to wrestle her way out. Sometimes, Fudge is able to slip past him and leap to her freedom…

What a surprise to receive so many inquires about whether I’d post a follow up to the “Back to School Blues.” I thought “oh what the doodle”, and the Boys and I trekked to the bus stop yesterday afternoon to meet the bus. Hope you enjoy their follow up rendition called -
“SCHOOL BUS BLUES – THE RETURN”
We left for the bus stop…
plenty time…

Wow, how the time flies by, can't believe our puppy is now 8 months. He is such a cutie. I love him to pieces. Not that I didn't think I would.
He is finally beginning to stop with the biting, although he still sort of play chews on our hands. Never thought I would see the light at the end of that tunnel.
I have taken him to one puppy obedience training, and he is good with all of the basics, I now want to take him to the second set of puppy obedience and do some trick…

A few months ago Laurie and I started to discuss me coming to PA. At first it was in jest - and we egged each other on a bit. Then it started to get more serious and before I knew it I was going. To say I was excited was an understatement. DH was excited too, because of course he knows Laurie from her blogs and my constant stream of DK information.
As the weekend grew closer I got nervous about a few things. Well, one thing in particular. First of all, since 2009 when Laurie…

Yes, you read that correctly. I met Camilla and Darwin when she flew to my house Friday for Labor Day weekend. Camilla and I joined DK around the same time and I always liked her comments and advice and thought she surely must be a wise and learned grown up. Little did I know she was barely out of diapers and typing her answers from…

What is a Wubba one might ask? A Wubba is a toy that replaces a tail-less raccoon and a snout-less pig. Believe it or not, we are still pulling toys from Milton's birthday stockpile. Wubba, a Kong toy, was a gift from Milton's biggest dog blog fan, Queen Goob! We actually have been saving this one for quite some time because it is sturdy and well-made. Wubba has quickly skyrocketed to the top of Milt Dog's list of toy favorites. Did I mention Wubba…

A couple of weeks ago I came across a post about Petco's contest that was supposed to celebrate the owners, named The Great Ones. You were to submit a written story or a video that would show why you are a great pet owner. It had been going on since March and closed at the end of August. The grand prize was $50,000 for the owner and an equal prize for a selected animal shelter. Each month Petco chose 10 finalists who would compete for the grand prize. So I looked at the finalists from each…

Am I the only inhabitant on this planet who when placed in a unimaginable situation (in public no less), becomes “mute” and unable to articulate an appropriate response at that precise moment?
Let me explain…
DH found a local Marina which is a true hidden treasure. Visually attractive, close to home, and tucked away making it wonderfully peaceful and inviting. We love to take the Boys there……

We've had a BUSY week! Jack had his first visit to the vet. He did AWESOME! He got started on Heartgard and monthly flea preventative. The vet was very impressed with how well he behaves and his mellow laid back personality. He weighed 12.2 pounds at 10 weeks! My big boy! House breaking is coming along great. We have only had a couple of accidents and both were my fault for not paying attention to his signals. I think it is amazing how good he does!! We only go out once at night…

A year ago today Libby and I clicked on a site called Doodle Kisses and little did we know how exciting, fun and informative this place called DK would be to us. There is no site we would rather be on and on and on! Yes, I have the DK addiction and I love it. We have met so many wonderful friends and their adorable Doodles and feel like each one is our neighbor. My family at first thought I was nuts when I talked only about DK and they questioned an Internet site about “Doodles”. Now…
