Fenway's at the groomer and tomorrow it's off with the man-parts!

So I have an appointment for Fenway to be neutered tomorrow. He is not really a fan of being brushed....so I thought I would get him a haircut today so that for the next week or two I won't have to bother him with the brush. Poor thing, getting all gussied up.....has NO idea what is in store for him tomorrow! I am a little bit scared about it....mostly because he won't be able to play with Shiloh like he normally does. Laundromutt

I was parked at the dog park last week and found a flyer on my windshield that was advertising something about Laundromutt. I ignored it but today I was at the dog park and saw what it was all about. This lady has a truck with a big tank of water in the back as well as a bathtub. One side of the tub is cut down a little more than halfway and sits right on the back edge of the truck. The Rain Stopped (at least for a few hours)

It has been raining for 2 days straight. I know I shouldn't complain as we are coming out of a multi-year drought. But Harlow doesn't like to go outside to 'do her business' in the rain. We are still in house breaking mode, so this means I get to go stand out in the rain trying to convince Harlow that she isn't going to melt.

1 week to go!

This time next week Kai will be home. :-) Everything and then some is ready for him, at least we think so. Toys, leash, dishes, bed even a car harness (thanks Marley, Kelly & Cole for that) and my favorite thing of all a front pack of sorts for a puppy. Remington's First Grooming Session!

Well, Dan and I had decided that Remington should probably get a little trim because his hair was getting a bit outta control. We were having a lot of trouble keeping it out of his eyes and well, lets face it, Dan and I hardly feel comfortable clipping his nails let alone near his little eyeballs... so we set up an appointment with Barkefellars in Greenwood, IN and they did a fantastic job!

Saw the cutest thing!

I just returned from the dog park and I saw the cutest thing. A lady was there with her daycare kids having a little picnic. I know it's not the best place for kids but it isn't that busy on weekday mornings and they were having so much fun.

The kids were all girls, 2 or 3 years old, all wearing the same sun hat, sitting on the grass in a circle eating. The lady had 3 dogs with her, 2 shihtzu's and a labradoodle who were wandering around and playing and none of them were bothering… Continue

Benny the walking desaster area

It was time again that Benny had a stupid accident. We don't know how it happened but in the first night of our trip to the sea I woke up because I heard Benny scratching all the time. When I checked on him I realized that his left eye was closed, tears were running out of it and he couldn't open it anymore. Maddie must be home from work...

The 'pack' is always excited when big sister Maddie comes home from work. That is because she works at our vet's office and always brings home treats. I can always tell when Maddie arrives home from work. All three dogs that had been sleeping peacefully in my office suddenly hop to their feet, run down the stairs and wait for Maddie to come through the front door. Warning: Kong toys are NOT indestructible

Kong makes tough toys with a good reputation. However, my 12-month-old mini-labradoodle and I were playing toss with a new Kong round yellow ring intended for retrieval and as a float toy. Mattie lay down with the toy and gave it a few hard chomps and with a stripping motion tore off a piece about 3"x1". Harlow is still not so sure about car rides

Yesterday I took Harlow to the vet for her vacs, then past the cleaners to pick up laundry and finally past the bank. She loved greeting everyone as well as getting cookies from cleaners and bank staff, but she wasn't real happy about the car ride. She drooled so much that her chin, front legs and the towel she was sitting on were soaked. We will be doing short car rides every day so she can get use to them.

Are puppy teeth lucky?

So 2 days ago I was brushing Abbys teeth with a finger wipe and I felt something loose; and hanging there by a thread of skin is her molar with a new one poking out underneath. Another wipe and out it fell. Pearly white and shiny. I wasnt sure what to do with this puppy tooth. Do I put it under her cushion? Leave a pigs ear there for her in the middle of the night? Nawww that would be ridiculous. I put it on the windowsill and today I decided to throw it away.

The good, the bad, and the ugly..

First, the good: Sophie's kidney function is within "normal", so she does not have kidney failure at this time. This makes it very likely that she will survive this disease. Rarely do they develope kidney failure if it wasn't present when treatment was initiated. I nearly cried when the vet called me at work to tell me the good news.. a bit emotional with everything, but it still felt good to know my girl is not too bad off at this point.

A Ball of Fluff!

In five days we will be bringing home Toka! It's amazing how different he looks from two weeks ago! I'm still not sure if he will be curly, but either way, we love him! In some of the pictures he seems shaggy, but in this one, not so much! Could the days be any slower?!
