I am a fair weather kinda gal and thus a fair weather trainer...and I almost always HATE rain. Give me clear skies and sunshine, please!
But today I had a friend commit to meeting me out in the park and if SHE was willing to brave wetness (as long as it wasn't pouring)
no way was I going to wimp out! When we got there the rain was bearable...but it quickly became a torrential storm!
Luckily for me, and…

My girls are a source of constant amusement. It was a very busy Saturday for our human kids. Today we had soccer and dance (2 soccer games and a dance class) so dinner was quick and simple - hot dogs and raw carrots. Violet and Veruca came barreling into the living room fighting over something. I assumed one of the kids must have dropped a hot dog - they were treating it like fillet. Low and behold.. it was a carrot. Veruca broke off a piece and while she worked on what…

Hi, I am a single doodle female fresh from the streets of small-town Ohio seeking a loving family. I love romps in the yard, food left on the counter, a good ball to chase and a warm safe home. Evenings curled up by the fireplace with another doodle friend are optional as long as someone is nearby so I can snuggle by your feet. My ideal family will accept that I'm not always perfect (although I'm darn close) and let me love them with all my heart. My name is Latte, give me a call!…

I'm on my very last nerve with my Murph, and he's going to "boot camp". To all Murphy's wonderful "fairy godmothers" (yes, that means you, Karen), don't worry....the boot camp is right here at home. I will not be sending him off to some unknown trainer (although I'm not saying I'm opposed to that in some situations). My Murph has been "feeling his oats" for the past couple of weeks...challenging, testing, and just plain "misbehaving". So, I've been reading like crazy (because that's what I do).…

A few weeks back some of you may remember that I had posted about my close friends golden retriever, Holly, that had bloat. They actually thought she had completely recovered. In the last week my friend said Holly had been back to her normal, playful, sweet self, and didn't show any evidence of the trauma she had been through.
I am so sad to say that this morning Holly took a very hard turn for the worse and they had to have her put to sleep to stop her suffering. It all happened so…

After a three hour trip (sounds like the start of Gilligan's Island), Latte arrived safe from her stint in the Richland County lockup in Mansfield, Ohio. She settled well on the car ride, after giving her opinion on the route we were taking - she thought she knew a better way but we stayed on the GPS route, much to her dismay.
When she arrived in Michigan she met her foster brother, Clifford. They tolerated each other in the front yard and then moved to the back to play chase.…

Last night, CharlieMarley again refused my invitation to come upstairs to bed. He whined a bit at the foot of the stairs.
I went up to get ready for bed. Then I heard more whining...louder...closer.
He was 3 steps from the top! He came the rest of the way and got to sleep on the bed. He was soo good. All night.
He does the stairs like a pro now. Yay CharlieMarley!…

We have decided to add another doodle to our family and Bella will be arriving in 2 weeks from today. I find myself feeling and doing some very familiar things and thinking that “ I have been here before”. I am pulling out all the “Puppy Training” books I read so diligently just 2 years ago, waiting anxiously for any post or picture update from our fantastic breeder, (Yes, same one again, of…

Please go to pepsirefresh.com and vote for us everyday. This for a $5000 grant to Helping Hand Animal Pantry of Cooke County. We need this money to open a food pantry for animals. Some donated one of their rent house to use. We need to turn on utilities, do repairs and buy food. This to help families in need to feed their household pets and pet livestock so they can stay out ot the kill shelter. Thanks.

This last week we changed Darwin over from his Holistic Select. The new food, Blue Buffalo. I'm still really disappointed that there are no Fromm retailers where I live. I have called food store after food store, no luck. Oh well, Blue Buffalo is pretty good too. Anyways, we made the switch successfully and I am very happy with the results.
Darwin loves it, he snarfs it right down! I know many dogs love new food and quickly lose interest, but Darwin isn't picky so I'm not…

Yep, Scottie too, was part of Operation Three Caballeros. He is such a skinny, frightened boy but he is slowly coming out of his shell. Wednesday evening when we got home from the doodle train excursion Scottie wasn’t too sure about his new…

As you may have read, Harvey was one of the "3 Amigos". The amazing DRC doodle train rescued three sweet doodle boys and dispersed them to foster homes. I was not able to choose when Nina and I were standing in the parking lot of our meeting point, but somehow we each ended up with the "right" foster!
Technically, yesterday was Harvey's second day with me, but I've decided not to count the first day. He was soooooo scared that he had no opportunity to let the slightest glimmer…

Meet Benson, our newest foster doodle. He is a black Labradoodle that DRC rescued from a kill shelter in southern VA. We used a doodle train to get him up to Northern VA.
He is about 1 year old, non shedding, house trained , knows basic commands and very playful He is neutered too. He likes to do the doodle romp with my male goldendoodle. He is about 70lbs, and has had his tail docked. He loves to give hugs and get in my lap!
He was covered in horrible mattes and even had a…

Hey doods, Clifford here and I'm looking for some advice. My Mommy came home from work and dropped the F word - yep, she says I'm getting a Foster sister on Friday...hey wait, that's today! Everything seems normal this morning but Mom has a different leash out and some blankets and towels - this doesn't seem right. The last time Mom said the F word she came home from work late and had this little pest called Cadi. She bit my ears, pulled my tail, took my toys and tried to eat my food. She even…

Only 8 more nights until our little girl, Rua, comes home. She weighs about 4-5 pounds right now (estimated by the breeder). The Dremel came today, as well as Clickers and the Clicker training book I ordered. I might of also stopped by Michael's and picked up $114 worth of scrapbooking materials (not sure what I was thinking...I am an accountant...but the stuff is SOOOO cute). I also just got the book "The Art of Raising a Puppy" by The Monks of New Skete. Any one have any thoughts or…

Tonight while I was downstairs cooking dinner I kept hearing lots of noise coming from upstairs. I didn't think that much about it because DH was up there, and there was no barking or growling.....just a lot of "banging". After a while I got curious, so I went up to investigate. There was DH calmly sitting at his computer....I walked across the hall to our bedroom, and that's when I figured it all out. Mr. Murphy had decided he was sick of the bedding ensemble. Yes, he stripped the bed. Here's…

Long before Rooney was even a gleam in my eye or a deposit on a looooong waiting list - I was invited to visit some friends who live in the south of France. Tomorrow the great adventure begins - and now I don't want to go. ;-) I hate to drag myself away from my computer - oh how I will miss those funny stories, updates (Roo's teeth came in yesterday), photos and videos that the breeder sends. And I will miss all of our new friends on DK and their stories and all of the stuff I was…

Roo here! Reporting in on the Malibu Doodle Romp. Oodles of doodle fun. Lots and lots of people to meet. And all of them love me! Most of them thought it was awesome to have doodle right in their lap or face to face for a kiss. A few humans were confused and thought this was a Canine Good Citizen test and pushed me down, but most just hugged and loved me. It's okay though, humans are easily confused as they don't watch, smell or listen carefully. Tiggerrrrrrrrrr checking…

I came around the corner into the living room this morning to find Banjo busy redecorating. He was either planning to move out or he'd decided he didn't want his bed in our room any longer! Of course he
doesn't actually SLEEP in this bed it's just another thing (toy) to
destroy! The foam bottom is almost non-existent!…
