Doodle Rescue

I can't foster or adopt a doodle because I have four resident Maltese plus five foster Maltese along with our Goldendoodle Holly.

However, I am driving up to Hesperia, CA (north of San Bernardino) to pick up a rescue doodle from the dog shelter there and deliver her to a foster home in Orange County, CA.

Watch out Richard, you don't want to fall in love with this doodle!  As the old saying goes, "If you visit the bicycle shop enough times, you will eventually…

My Road to Becoming a Hopeless Doodle Addict!

Well, I have finally achieved my goal of becoming a Hopeless Doodle Addict on DoodleKisses. Maybe I should say I have been recognized publicly as a HDA, because my family has known this to be true for quite some time. When I told my family I was going after the title of HDA, they wanted to know what happens when I get there. I told them I might get a really cool trophy that has been kissed by lots of dogs and a box of stuff picked out by the previous HDA. When they asked where I would put…

Louie's big day!

My bucketlist includes being a part of a therapy team with my dog. I have wanted this all my life. My work schedule finally lends itself to this and tomorrow I will take Louie for a pre-screening to see if he is a candidate for the training school. I am nervous and excited. Please send me lots of good vibes. I am a firm believer that things like that work! Louie is so great with kids, strangers and other dogs,.......but what about other things, noises, elevators, hospital equipment? Don't know… Continue

The Pup Formerly Known As Gabby, Now BISCUIT

It's interesting what you learn from a dog in the first couple of weeks after their arrival. How they eat, their schedules, and most of all, their personality.

We named our new pup Gabby before she even arrived for two reasons:  1) The breeder's name for her was "Gabriella," and 2) she looked like "Gabby" from the photos.

After two weeks with her, we faced the fact that the name just didn't fit.  Not only did it cause confusion between our two dogs ("Penny" and "Gabby" sound…

Best ever, in Riley's eyes!

Riley, doesn't really care what I am eating.  But, if I go near the Reser's terriyaki sticks he is all over me.  He will not quit till he gets the last bite of the stick.  Wondering why he has gained .5lb recently?  Do you think it maybe the terriyaki sticks?  I really think it is the Oriental in him, somehow that doesn't compute.  But, must of abdapted to our culture around here.

Vern and the Fan

This morning, Fudge, Vern, and I were all in bed. All of a sudden, Vern looked up and noticed the ceiling fan. We run the fan year round, so it is not like it is something new. Well, he reared up and backed up and then turned and ran right at me for protection.  It was almost a slinky, low to the bed, kind of run and he looked petrified. I think he stayed low just in case the ceiling fan tried to grab him. He was not taking any chances and continued to sit on me for about ten minutes with his… Continue

KONA UPDATE 7 MOS. LATER -- WE STILL HAVE HIM AND NO NEW BITES!!!

Hi everyone

I thought I would update this great community on Kona since everyone was so helpful and forthcoming.  We decided as a family that we could not bear to part with Kona.  My husband and I were dissuaded from re-homing by three very devastated and persistent kids.  We all agreed that we would work hard on training Kona and learning to anticipate and listen to his cues as well. We also felt that in many ways Kona is such an ideal, friendly and highly intelligent dog…

Holly and Kobe playing

Kobe a 5 pound Maltese and English Cocker Spaniel cross is a rescue puppy born from a Maltese mom who was found pregnant wandering the streets of a local city.  Holly is, of course, our 55-pound, 3-year old, Goldendoodle who just loves our rescue puppies and is very gentle with them.

Kobe left today with his new family for his forever home and I wanted to document how well Holly and Kobe play together.

I did not know how to post this Youtube video on the video…

Please pray for Benji UPDATE WEDNESDAY

My neighbor was walking my Grandma's bichon-poodle mix yesterday when he was attacked by 4 pit bulls that came charging out of a backyard.  My neighbor tried to get them off Benji and ended up with gashes in her leg.  She feels like the only reason they stopped attacking Benji is because they thought he was dead.  She spent the afternoon in emergency while Benji spent the afternoon in surgery.  When I saw him last night I barely recognized him with no fur, drain tubes everywhere and enough…

Duncan stands by his girl...

So today Duncan's "girlfriend" Lucy is spending the day with us. She's a little Jack Russell. She misses her momma and so insists on staring out the window until her momma gets back. Duncan has decided to stand beside her and give her moral support. I feel so bad. They usually have lovely playdates. Lots of chasing and playing hard to get. So now we've learned that they'll only really play if BOTH of their momma's are present.

Here's a pic of the two lovebirds looking out the…

Animal Control is Stalking Peri & Tacky

I thought the title might get your attention!  Don't worry....

So I always walk the dogs during the middle of the day - we still live in the condo and there is a "greenway" (wonderful pedestrian walkway) that goes around the golf course - part of it is by a busy two-lane road.  Last week, we were walking and this big van that said "Animal Control" :( :( passed by and slowed down.  The driver rolled down the window and smiled and said "your dogs are just adorable, can I take…

Clean floor and Valentine supper...

We attended an all day long dog rescue event on Sunday, February 13th so Judy said she was really too tired to go out to a restaurant for Valentine's Day supper on Monday.  Instead, I bought her some potted tulips (which we will replant in our garden) and cooked her supper.  We sat down to eat in the living room (because we wanted to watch the Westminster Dog Show) and Judy had a glass of wine on the table next to her chair - just at the right height for Holly's tail.  The tail wagged as it…

Sheeba's Stories

Let me tell ya, I'm a Doodle who loves the simple pleasures in life. I have a mom & dad who dote on me each and every day. When I'm hungry I have food brought to me in a beautiful shiny dish and a lovely refreshing water bowl. Every morning as I awaken, I stretch out on my bed, roll over and at least mom or dad rubs my belly and tells me how beautiful I am.  I'm taken out for long wonderful walks along trails in the forest, go for…

Thanks to DRC

A heartfelt thank you to Karen and Jack and all the DRC folks.  Not just for giving "Moses" a loving ending to his life, but for all the dogs you help.  My mother- in- law, who is nearly a saint herself, says that all the loving, giving things, you do for no pay, but just from caring and because they need doing, earn a gold star for your crown in heaven.  Karen and DRC you help those who have no voice, be ready for a crown with lots of stars.  Thanks

Picky Pee're

Hi there Doodlers! > We have just figured out that Neely has become a picky pee'er!

I had a  suspicion last week when I took him to the dentist, mine. He waited in  the car. Then we went to my mom's apartment for the lunch hour. Then out  to my Grandma's nursing home where we do alot of visiting with all the  residents there as well as gramma. We had to wait awhile for her until  she finished her dinner. > He was out at intervals through out the day. I asked him to go pee on…
