My day started when Vern fell off of the bed while sleeping. This scared him to death and he ran as fast as he could over to my side of the bed for a hug. Fudge stood up to see what all the commotion was, gave him a look like, "how stupid can you be?" and went back to sleep. It was just going to get worse for Vern, because he had to go to the groomers today. I used to schedule the dog's grooming appointments on the same day, but I really like spending one on one time with each of them, so…

Hooray! I returned from classes today to find it warm-ish, sunny and beautiful! It was a little windy but I will take what I can get. I was so glad to get a break from the wet, cold, grey weather we've been having lately. In celebration, Darwin and I had a little picnic out on the lawn. He enjoyed it even more than I did! I also took advantage of the sun and took some photos of Darwin, something I never tire of. :-)

So I've taken to jumping rope. Mainly because I was scolded for jogging with Bernie at his age. Still working out how I feel about it, doing some research, but it's on hold for the time being. Walks only. But I need to do more...and jumping rope can be done at any time, it's great for keeping the metabolism up, definitely works muscles most of us neglect, yadda, yadda, yadda. The rope was cheap so it's a worthwhile new venture.
Anyhow, Bernie thinks we're starting a double dutch…

We are still looking at houses, but there is one that is on our "short list" (term our realtor uses).
I just wanted you to see if my DK friends think this yard is suitable for Lady Peri and Taquito. Please ignore the yard art - this photo does not do the yard justice at all!!!!!!!!! It has a nice front yard too. The back looks steeper than it actually is - we should be able to fence it off. The house is pretty great on the interior - just needs paint (and it has an…

We have two dogs, a 17 week-old Labradoodle puppy named Harper and a 13 and a half year-old Dalmatian named Maddie. This weekend we almost lost Maddie to bloat and it was a terrifying experience. The good news is that she is back from the animal hospital and is recovering well.
Everything was normal on Friday night and Maddie was scarfing up her food.…

Ok dog lovers, this is for real. Please note of the last 5 months nominees, two were labs and one was a golden!!
VPI (pet insurance company) hosts an annual contest to choose a winner from all the insurance claims processed each year. It is a good way to educate the public on the dangers to our pets. And for me personally, it is a reminder of how fortunate we are. Obviously for VPI, it helps to sell insurance!
Anyway I found it interesting (in a…

Neighbors are shaking their heads today, wondering what may have caused the "nice dog" next door to viciously attack his favorite playmate. Due to the dog's age, authorities are not releasing his/her name. There is…

Hi puppy fans--you may need a tissue while watching this one--especially if super sweet cuteness brings tears to your eyes. Make sure you have the sound on! If you have been watching these videos over the past few weeks, you won't believe how much more the boys can do now. I also have gotten some new "skills" with iMovie on my Macbook and I am pretty proud of this video. By the way, I have taken all of these with my regular point and shoot Canon Powershot camera. When I think back to how…

All doodle owners seem fortunate that our doodles don't usually have a doggy odor and Holly is certainly free of such smells; except when we were visiting Texas and she rolled in deer poop on my sister-in-law's front lawn. She was covered in a green smelly slime. But, that's another story.
We usually send Holly to the doggy beauty parlor every couple of months and during the summer never have to bathe her between visits because she is in and out of our pool every day and a…

It is a spectacular 75°F day here. We were driving to our local farmer's market when from the car I spotted a puppy exactly like Ollie. We stopped the car in the middle of the street and met the other shocked owner. It turns out that it is Ollie's sister who lives in the same town as us. They look so similar that it is crazy to see :-). We and the other owners were thrilled too! The puppies started playing right away and the girl puppy's owners were very friendly and nice so we've planned to…

This is probably the final Cash blog I’ll do. He’ll be leaving for his forever home in a couple of weeks. We have loved being part of this guy’s life for the past few months, and he is now part of our forever memories. He’s managed to snuggle his way into our hearts.
I think the first dog you foster is probably the hardest because you aren’t prepared for the mixed emotions as they leave your care and move on. You watch them bloom from the fearful, confused rescue animal to a…

Sometimes, I just can't believe what I talk about on this site. Maybe it's the doldrum of winter, but... I mean, I don't even personally KNOW you guys, but yet we talk about such things as "POOP"! ??? Tori lately has become such a picky pooper! LOL
It has been taking her so long to find a 'spot'... she walks, and sniffs, and turns round and round. YES - finally! NOPE. Not there... she sniffs again, walks, turns round and round - NOPE again.... this…

Every morning around 7 AM, Whopper wakes us up and our day begins. My husband takes them both out and the typical morning report is Simba did both, Whopper just peed. On one morning in particular, this was exactly the story. So I get up, shower, get dressed, feed the dogs, and then it's my turn. I take Whopper and Simba out and Whopper quickly does the business she didn't do on her first trip. We wander around a little more, Simba does nothing, so we head to the door. Whopper freezes in…

My dogs are getting less and less walks these days because everywhere I go it is icy. We have been going to the nearby tennis courts and letting them run, but that is getting old. Luckily, my Vern is a good natured guy and just plain happy. Here is what he looked like sleeping next to me last night and one picture when he woke up. He makes me smile everyday!!…
