fire safety

I dont remember where or what started the conversation a few weeks ago when we got into fire safety but.. We were testing our smoke alarms and every time they went off I took Monty outside because it hurt my ears.  I decided that day that training him to leave the home when the smoke alarm went off would be a good thing.  We did practice that a few times that day a month or so ago.  Sunday our smoke alarm went off because of our wall oven that spews the heat into the hallway where the alarm is.… Continue

Eli's Forever Family

Great People I cant say enough about them. He will be very happy there and I am sure treated like a Prince.

He is close so maybe after sometime Jordan and he will have a play date.

We loved this experience very much.

Life Is WONDERFUL Again.................

Meet Gus' new brother Rory he's a 10 month old double doodle 14 hr trip yesterday to get him, he's a love.  I've been in such a funk since Bear went over the RB yet I wasn't going to get another dog until Gus was perfectly trained.  When I saw Rory aka Percy on petfinder yesterday a.m. Oh his nose (look out JD you have competition) and his eyes I fell in love.  He's a wonderful puppy only lost a sheet of paper and a coaster today.  Comes when called and sits.  I know his "true self" won't…

Vern (Vernors) is One Today

On January 10, 2011, our little Vern will be one year old. There was a time in my life that I declared that we were not getting any more dogs. It didn't take long for me to change my mind and I started searching for our next dog. Along came Fudge and we fell head over heels in love with her, but then I got it in my head that two dogs might be better than one.  How very lucky we are that our second dog is Vern. He has filled our lives with joy and his antics never fail to leave a smile on our…

Lyric's Photogenic puppies

I had fun setting up a "photo studio"  under a skylight and snapping away today--i got some wonderful pictures and thought I would share them with all of the readers out there! Hope you enjoy them!

Let's start with the small black male--he is a quiet pup, but always gets a full belly by pushing underneath all the fatties. He is so cute! I call him "twinkletoes" because of…

My Mom was sick yesterday

My mom was very sick yesterday, my dad said it is something called the stomach flu, she did not look good at all.

Towards the end of the afternoon she went to her crate which is a lot bigger than mine and closed her door.  I didn't know what to do, I sat outside the door for 2 hours waiting for my mom to come back out.

Finally I knew what she needed...TOYS! They always make me feel so much better, so I went downstairs and brought up 3 of my favorite toys for her to…

Sweet 16!!!

Today is Butter's estimated 16th Birthday!!! ( He came to us when he was a little less than a year old.)

He shared majority of my kids' lives, taught them responsibilities, compassion, empathy, and unconditional love.

Protected us, ( I was by myself and all of my kids were so little...) brought many joy to us.

Each winter gets more difficult for him, and his arthritis seems to progress. But, he is eating OK and still enjoy going outside. He loved the snow and enjoyed the…

Doodle Rescue Mission

Picture of the event of a flight of mercy. These two dogs were in a shelter in Ontario, Or. Brad, the pilot with his plane flew from Portland to Ontario, Or. to bring them back to Portland on his own time and expense! I just met the plane, and have them overnight. To be picked up tomorrow morning by their foster dad. They are both great dogs with unfortunate events that happened… Continue

Bella the Belle of the dog park

Bella is just about 6 months old and has such an outgoing personality! We have only had her to the dog park about 5-6 times and she just runs in there ready to make new friends, canine and human like she has been there everyday of her life.  It is such a pleasure to see how she interacts with other dogs, how she goes up to other people and snuggles near their legs and lets them pet her and how she runs to play and then turns around to check in with me every once in awhile.

Just a joy…

These Dood are awesome!

I have had some strange health problems and Achilles has been there for me. I have had some white blood cell problems and had to go for a bone marrow biopsy. Not fun! Very stress producing. Achilles has been glued to my side for a week. About the time I have been nervous. He was there every time I needed a hug etc... I love my dood. Today after the procedure he was such a snuggle bug on the coach. I was very sore and he was very comforting. I feel so lucky to have him.

My Lucky Lucky Tucker

Hi! Laney again! Many of you are wondering how old I am, so I'll tell you. I'm eleven. My dog is two, almost three. Anyway, I want to let you guys know about Tucker at his doggy day care. Well, since I just started middle school, my mom couldn't drive me and my sister to two different schools and go to work before 8:30 and keep Tucker in a kennel all day. I don't believe in doggies being locked up all day, and my mom even feels sorry for him. So, the best idea was to move…

New Winter Coats

Well, I'm not sure the boys love them but they tolerated putting their new coats on and wore them outside.  So far I'm pretty happy with them - they go on super easy and cover their bellies - Clifford's belly fur is really thin and he loves being in the snow so much it gets really cold and wet.   I wish I could have gotten matching ones but the Bones pattern was out of… Continue

Nervous about CGC Class!

Peri has already passed two levels of obedience with her trainer; however, she has not taken a class since September 2009.  I have been pretty diligent about her training, but she is by no means 100% reliable when she is distracted.  To help us get back into training mode, I decided to sign us up for the next level, which is "Better Family Manners" aka "Advanced Obedience".  That is the next level our trainer offers.

Here's the catch.....the Canine Good Citizen test is…

Goodbye Sherlock

Last evening we said goodbye to Sherlock. Since Christmas his bad days were more often than his good and this week he started to decline rapidly. On Tuesday we made Sherlock’s final appointment with our vet. Amazingly he had a good day yesterday. So we decided to make a great day. It was a bit rainy but DD and I took him for a small walk. Then Sherlock got a good long brushing with the Zoom Groom (this was one of his favorite things). As it came closer to the appointment DD, Sherlock and I…

I'm Going to New York

Our friend has a darling little Maltese male that she has sold to a lady in upstate New York.  Judy and I have the puppy now and are training it to use pee-pee pads. The lady was going to fly to San Diego from New York to pick up the puppy but. her mom is not feeling well and she cannot make the trip.

The lady is quite wealthy and owns a horse farm in upstate New York.  She offered me first class airline tickets plus two days in a New York City hotel if I would fly the puppy…

OMD - my Rooney IS HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No surgery!!!  All I can do is thank God and all of you here on DK for your prayers and good thoughts and the wonderful doctors in Estero.  14 hours of hell but we do have a good outcome IF all proceeds like it should.  Rooney did not have an obstructed stomach, whatever showed on the first xrays at 5:00 a.m. did not show on the noon xrays.  They kept him on an I.V. all during this time and he had had nothing to eat at all.  The second set of xrays did show that his stomach and intestinal…

Happy Birthday Boys!

Rooney is in the Hospital!

Please - everyone say a prayer for my boy!  I'm sobbing I am just so worried and feel so bad.  Yesterday started off with Rooney being his typical puppy self, happy and bouncy, ate his breakfast.  I took him to the puppy sitter as it was my golf day and picked him up later in the afternoon.  She made the comment that she couldn't get him to poop but I didn't think anything of that.  So we went to the puppy park… Continue
