Meet Gus' new brother Rory he's a 10 month old double doodle 14 hr trip yesterday to get him, he's a love. I've been in such a funk since Bear went over the RB yet I wasn't going to get another dog until Gus was perfectly trained. When I saw Rory aka Percy on petfinder yesterday a.m. Oh his nose (look out JD you have competition) and his eyes I fell in love. He's a wonderful puppy only lost a sheet of paper and a coaster today. Comes when called and sits. I know his "true self" won't…

On January 10, 2011, our little Vern will be one year old. There was a time in my life that I declared that we were not getting any more dogs. It didn't take long for me to change my mind and I started searching for our next dog. Along came Fudge and we fell head over heels in love with her, but then I got it in my head that two dogs might be better than one. How very lucky we are that our second dog is Vern. He has filled our lives with joy and his antics never fail to leave a smile on our…

I had fun setting up a "photo studio" under a skylight and snapping away today--i got some wonderful pictures and thought I would share them with all of the readers out there! Hope you enjoy them!
Let's start with the small black male--he is a quiet pup, but always gets a full belly by pushing underneath all the fatties. He is so cute! I call him "twinkletoes" because of…

My mom was very sick yesterday, my dad said it is something called the stomach flu, she did not look good at all.
Towards the end of the afternoon she went to her crate which is a lot bigger than mine and closed her door. I didn't know what to do, I sat outside the door for 2 hours waiting for my mom to come back out.
Finally I knew what she needed...TOYS! They always make me feel so much better, so I went downstairs and brought up 3 of my favorite toys for her to…

Today is Butter's estimated 16th Birthday!!! ( He came to us when he was a little less than a year old.)
He shared majority of my kids' lives, taught them responsibilities, compassion, empathy, and unconditional love.
Protected us, ( I was by myself and all of my kids were so little...) brought many joy to us.
Each winter gets more difficult for him, and his arthritis seems to progress. But, he is eating OK and still enjoy going outside. He loved the snow and enjoyed the…

Bella is just about 6 months old and has such an outgoing personality! We have only had her to the dog park about 5-6 times and she just runs in there ready to make new friends, canine and human like she has been there everyday of her life. It is such a pleasure to see how she interacts with other dogs, how she goes up to other people and snuggles near their legs and lets them pet her and how she runs to play and then turns around to check in with me every once in awhile.
Just a joy…

Hi! Laney again! Many of you are wondering how old I am, so I'll tell you. I'm eleven. My dog is two, almost three. Anyway, I want to let you guys know about Tucker at his doggy day care. Well, since I just started middle school, my mom couldn't drive me and my sister to two different schools and go to work before 8:30 and keep Tucker in a kennel all day. I don't believe in doggies being locked up all day, and my mom even feels sorry for him. So, the best idea was to move…

Peri has already passed two levels of obedience with her trainer; however, she has not taken a class since September 2009. I have been pretty diligent about her training, but she is by no means 100% reliable when she is distracted. To help us get back into training mode, I decided to sign us up for the next level, which is "Better Family Manners" aka "Advanced Obedience". That is the next level our trainer offers.
Here's the catch.....the Canine Good Citizen test is…

Last evening we said goodbye to Sherlock. Since Christmas his bad days were more often than his good and this week he started to decline rapidly. On Tuesday we made Sherlock’s final appointment with our vet. Amazingly he had a good day yesterday. So we decided to make a great day. It was a bit rainy but DD and I took him for a small walk. Then Sherlock got a good long brushing with the Zoom Groom (this was one of his favorite things). As it came closer to the appointment DD, Sherlock and I…

Our friend has a darling little Maltese male that she has sold to a lady in upstate New York. Judy and I have the puppy now and are training it to use pee-pee pads. The lady was going to fly to San Diego from New York to pick up the puppy but. her mom is not feeling well and she cannot make the trip.
The lady is quite wealthy and owns a horse farm in upstate New York. She offered me first class airline tickets plus two days in a New York City hotel if I would fly the puppy…

No surgery!!! All I can do is thank God and all of you here on DK for your prayers and good thoughts and the wonderful doctors in Estero. 14 hours of hell but we do have a good outcome IF all proceeds like it should. Rooney did not have an obstructed stomach, whatever showed on the first xrays at 5:00 a.m. did not show on the noon xrays. They kept him on an I.V. all during this time and he had had nothing to eat at all. The second set of xrays did show that his stomach and intestinal…
