It’s Saturday afternoon and we’re headed to this outdoor festival that brings together local businesses, animal rescue groups and pet owners for an exciting day of activities, demonstrations and animals galore. It’s a day of “pets and fun” for the whole family!
Little did I know that both Leo and Harley were going to be a little “under the weather” with loose stool, and lethargic behavior. On at least a half a dozen times, I changed my mind and declared this to be a…

My little Doodle and I did the MS Walk in Philadelphia with our friends this weekend. For a 3 month old puppy surrounded by tons of people and dogs, my little guy did a fantastic job! He was also the center of attention wherever he happened to be, so I'm sure that helped :)…

We all know that men are not known for reading directions and my DH is no exception. We bought a new barbecue grill with some assembly required. The instructions said 'easy assembly' but the person who wrote that had obviously not met my DH.
I try not to get involved in these things but as inevitably happens I get sucked into helping. Now helping to assemble a barbecue was not in my plans at 9:30 in the evening but DH just had to put that barbecue together tonight. I…

Hi all Roo here - This is an urgent report. If you as a doodle or a doodle parent have a swimming pool, be on high alert.
Mom was trying to not get up and get our breakfast and usually we just snuggle in with her for awhile.....but this morning we had, had, had to get her up. We barked until we were horse (hoarse? - can there be two words that sound alike, but are different?) Anyway, we finally got her up, it was super urgent. There was a girl duck and a boy duck in…

It happened again last weekend. I lost my husband in Target. We walked in together and proceeded to the back of the store to the books and magazine section. I always like to swing back to that department and load my cart with my educational and informative reading for the week. How else am I going to stay informed about Kim Kardashian’s divorce hell or the 25 stars who ride skateboards if I do not get the latest edition of People or Us Weekly? At some point, I could find…

Has anyone noticed lately there are more and more Doodles popping up in magazines, commercials, and even movies? ( my husband noticed a doodle walking down the street in the movie “Columbiana”).
Recently, I’m meeting more and more Doodle parents in dog parks, other communities, and even when I take the boys to camp! I would love to hang-out in the mornings, drink a cup of coffee and “chit-chat” for a while, but everybody is in such a hurry trying to drop off their…

I have joined the ranks of the DKers whose Doodles have short and snappy hair cuts.
It wasn't the plan when we took Chester to the groomers. I knew he had a few mats and his feet were quite sensitive (allergies and infection) so he wouldn't allow me to get near the mats near his paws. I had scissored a few of them out. ( I feel pretty bad that they were worse then I thought). I had been madly brushing him regularly but then I went away for a few days and it really got away from me : (…

DH took Haley out last night to play fetch with his ball. Haley found something more interesting than the ball. After letting him sniff the…

I have never owned a cat... but from what I can tell Luna has a lot of cat-like qualities. I know a lot of these are just hunting dog qualities, but I've never had a hunting-type dog before so I find them really amusing!
The evidence (A bit Laurie-style with pictures!):
1. A fascination with birds…

Before the press came out about the contaminated dog food from China, our lab began experiencing kidney problems. As soon as the press alerted us to the problem, we discontinued his sweet potato treats, which were manufactured there. Luckily, he improved. We had no evidence that the treats were behind his kidney issues except for his improvement after it was removed from his diet. Until now. The brand we used is listed in this new warning. Beware! …

Okay, I read “Inside of a Dog” so should have a reasonable understanding of what a powerful tool a dog’s nose is. However, what Gavin did recently astounded me! Here is what happened:
I had a big retirement party for my DH on Saturday. He received several gifts and at least a dozen greeting cards from well-wishers. On Sunday DH sat down in his comfy chair to begin opening the cards. Out of nowhere Gavin rushed into the room and plunged his head into the cards in DH’s lap. …

Every morning I wake up to the buzz and alarm of my cell phone clear across the room. I get up to turn off my first alarm, grab my phone and plop back on my bed until alarms 2 and 3 force me to face the reality that I must get up.
I am not a morning person.
I never feel well in the mornings. It's as if all the pollen in my apartment has made its way over to my bed and nested in my pillow. If life followed my wishes, I would not start the day until at least 9:00am...for some…

Saturday, I had plans that didn’t involve the boys – imagine that? My daughter was out with friends for the weekend, my husband and son were together doing “manly” things and I had plans to do something…

My husband and I are not extravagant people. Our vacations consist mostly of driving home to Indiana to see family or to North Carolina to see family. The people I used to work with always teased me about our vacations, but I didn’t care. “To each his own,” I would say and mean it. I drive a beat up van with over 200,000 miles on it and enough dog nose prints to make it almost virtually impossible to see clearly out the back window. In fact, it appears as if a jar of Vaseline went…

I am so grateful to Joanne and her family for giving Sweetie such a wonderful foster home. We are so happy we were given the opportunity to adopt Sweetie - we renamed her Lily. Lily has adapted very well to our home and her doodle Sister, Marcey, loves having a playmate. They are often found lounging on the big chair with us in the evening all curled up keeping us warm. The cats are still adjusting and making progress daily. We have taken Lily and Marcey to Middle Bass Island two times…

Cooper got brushed one day, bathed the next day, then groomed today. I did the groom myself (its the second time Ive tried it) and I used scissors for it all. I used the videos from Royal Diamond Labradoodles as a guide for a puppy cut. Her front legs look a bit choppy, and I dont like her ears so short, but overall im quite pleased. She is about 1 1/2 inches long on the body and 2 inches long on the legs. It took me about an hour
BEFORE…

Wow, so much can change in a week! Some for the better and others, well, less than better. Sprocket is finally responding to her name and she'll come bounding towards you when you say "Sprocket, come!' It's pretty adorable seeing as most of the time, when she runs, she…
