What breed(s) have your doodles been mistaken for?
I know this sounds like a weird post, but I laugh every time I start to count up the number of breeds Moose (or Mica) has been mistaken for. I've had people ask me if he (or she) is: an Otterhound, a Flat Coated Retreiver, a Curly Coated Retriver, a Portugeuse Water Dog, an Italian Spinoni, and......here's my favorite...an Irish Wolfhound. I commented that Moose was a bit small for the last one and they thought he was a puppy (he's a…

No loose lease for Jess.
Jess's surgeon and cardiologist stopped by this morning anticipating that Tuesday will be discharge day. We were told that they intend to keep him on a "short leash." This is fine by me.
Since Jess's heart attack was two months ago, he can most likely begin cardiac rehab the week after he returns home. We will have a nurse come to the home to give him an assessment to determine home services. Jess's brother will come up for the week to assist with…

I started to answer each of you who responded to my blog post of yesterday and decided to just enter another one with the details.
Our baby was born in the wee hours of the morning!!! I was out late (for children) and the kids were at a friend's house. Went to pick them up at 10:30 and 2 of the 3 were still awake!!! The third fell asleep as soon as she knew I was on my way to get them. After I got the children in bed and asleep, I went down to our office to check my emails and DK for…

We are on night #12 with our new goldendoodle Wrigley, and I need some opinions about nighttime crate training. So far she hasn't had any accidents in her crate, and we want to keep it that way! The first few nights we had her she was sleeping 3-4 hours before whining to go out. The last several nights tough she wakes up every 1 and 1/2 to 2 hours whining and barking. To this point we've taken her out every time just because we don't want her to have an accident in her crate. I think she may be…

I was just getting ready to head to bed (got to get up at 4am) when I noticed Bear trying to lick his incision. Somehow my too smart for his own good dog found a way past the cone and removed his stitches. I called the vet right away to let him know. He told me to bring him in first thing in the morning so they can clean the area and re-stitch it. They will give him a larger cone and evaluate him throughout the day. He told me it would heal on it's own without doing anything to it but he would…

***Great Success***Well... Pongo was an absolute star on our holiday.. His first walk out in Derbyshire (UK) was 4 miles long! He loved it!! He ran over fields.. paddled in a stream.. played with my cousins dog, Buster.. I carried him for about 15 minutes in total. I was so thrilled that he enjoyed walking and got used to his lead SO quickly...
We had a week full of walks.. I guess he walked about 20 miles in total! He was even allowed off his lead to romp through the fields…

JUST got back from our Walla Walla romp and we had a GREAT time!
14 doodles took over the dog park on a most sunny and warm day and all got along great. I had been a little down about the whole thing because so few people RSVP'd with a "YES" but there were some surprise attendees who had found out about the event from a local breeder so it turned out fabulous. All shapes and colors and sizes and a few DK members attended:…

Just had to share some updated pictures of our latest additions! They are growing like weeds and getting cuter by the day. They will be 4 weeks old tomorrow and I can't believe my time with them is already half over! Seven of the ten are already spoken for and I could not be any…

If there are any other members out there from the Cincinnati area, I wanted to share that there is a Doodle Romp next Saturday the 25th at the Pet Nation Lodge at 1425 Loveland Maderia Road, Loveland, Ohio 45140. The event is from 2-4 and was a great time last year! They ask for a donation to support IDOG to help Doodles in need. It is a great place to meet other owners and even help find that new pup you know you want! If anyone needs any more information feel free to contact me!

Yesterday at the Huntington Beach Romp, my back was turned and when I next saw Cody, he had white paper in his mouth. When I went to see what it was, I saw lots of green (as in money). He was shredding the envelope, money was flying, fortunately all the money for IDOG got saved. What rascals doodles are. I told the story to a friend with a doodle and her doodle found 160$ on her kitchen table, she ate 60 and shreaded the rest. She was able to paste together about 80 dollars that the bank…

That is what my sister is calling Jess.
He had an amazing day today. The P.T. came by to give him "the six minute test." Jess had to walk for six minutes. He moved without a walker at a decent clip. It was with effort, but he was not huffing and puffing. He was so proud of himself. He asked me several times, "Did you
see me?"
A coworker had come to see Jess for the first time. He was surprised, after hearing all the stories, how well he looked. (He just missed all…

After the stress of ending the week by being told by my husband that our two doodles got into a fight with each other, I was a bit worried about how this weekend was going to be - he is working all weekend and I am home with the dogs, just them and me. Today they played in the garden, very boistrous but still it
was playing and nothing else. Then we went for a lovely long hike together. I like to hike "hands free" and when we had just the one dog tie his leash around may wait for a more…

I really feel sick to my stomach!!! Our new baby may be born tonight or tomorrow! I just got word that the mom, Tula may be in labor! I don't remember feeling this way when I was having babies!!! The part that I am dreading is that I am going out tonight and won't be able to check my emails. This is one of the few nights I have been out in over a year and look what happens!! I need to be sitting on the computer!!! I am going to be a MOM again!!!! OMG!!! I really do feel sick.

Last night we had obedience class again. We had actually considered quitting the class, because we found it to be less helpful than it could be due to criticism and lack of motivation from the instructors. We did not quit, and went off to class last night. Toby was tired - he was groomed for the first time yesterday, and we took him early and let him run. If I may say so myself, Toby totally ROCKED OUT that class last night. I have never seen behave as well. My husband was watching from the…

Just want to let everyone know Fergie passed her CGC test with flying colors. Actually, that is a pretty easy test. Most dogs that are anywhere near social should pass it easy.

Well, as I am a bit scared I thought writing it down might help.
As some of you already know Benny cut one of his webbed feet a while ago. After weeks of antibiotics and wearing a shoe outside and during the night the wound finally closed and the infection was gone. On Monday I suddenly realized that he was licking his paw again all the time. I checked it and saw that the skin between his toes was cut open again and it looked like it did in the beginning. I have no idea how that happened…

I remember when Phoebe was learning to climb the stairs.
I was afraid I'd have to carry her. When she finally learned to climb up, she wouldn't come down. I told Jess, "She's never going to learn how to do stairs."
Jess responded that she will if we gave her time.
Today, after a little time, Jesse climbed stairs! He was so proud of himself. Nephew Phil was there to capture the moment on his cell..
While I had a room of fifth graders shouting and filled with end of the year…

After a very long day Bear is home from his surgery. He bounced into the lobby ready to go. I knew ahead of time to ask for a cone since he loves to lick himself. Sure enough as soon as I took it off tonight he tried to lick his incision. He is the same energetic dog he was yesterday. I can't believe how alert and active he is. The poor guy is so hungry and thirsty but the vet told me not to give him any food or water until tomorrow morning. Not sure how well that will work out.
He…
