Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Most Saturday’s (weather permitting), DH and I try to incorporate the boys in some type of outdoor activity. Since we’ve become pet parents, this is the way our minds seem to work.
With a myriad of leftover tasks forever undone, I personally wanted to dedicate my Saturday completing a few of them, so I bowed out when Lee came barreling down the stairs rattling off a variety of places we should/could go.
Acknowledging and accepting my desire to remain at home,…

Halloween is fast approaching, and the Milt needs a costume quick! Our first big event is in very early October at Barktoberfest in Fort Woof Dogpark, and I certainly don't want my boy to feel awkward if his costume isn't as cool as all his little buddies. That would make for one lame Momma.
If we design a costume though, we might need to showcase it at more than one event in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex this year. Why waste creativity on one day? If anyone else is…

The more fun rides we take in the car to daycare, the creek, dog park, etc. the more the Milt wants to hop right in! Lately, he likes to try and ride shotgun. Momma doesn't allow it, but I think Daddy does due to certain habits I have noticed emerge. I am actually happy that our goldendoodle has a desire to stare out the window and notice the world flying by.
Truth be told, the Milt and I are quite the team. When I bake, Milton sits on the floor, watching my every move - my…

Doodle Rescue Collective Inc. was the beneficiary of the 2012 Southern California Doodle Romp. This unique picnic, held in the mountains above Malibu, was attended by doodles and their owners, including doodlekisses members. There were silly doodle contests, a raffle, and an auction as well as a catered lunch. The doodle population included some former DRC rescue doods. Jacquie York, DRC National Director, traveled from New Jersey to join Michele Long, DRC's Southern California Director,…

We see it all the time on the front page! People want to know how to go about picking a puppy by coat type, color, or sex. As far as I am concerned, they are going about it all wrong, and based on my vast experience of picking two dogs out over the Internet and asking all the wrong questions, I want to help others learn from my mistakes. I fell in love with Fudge from a picture and knew she was meant to be my dog. …

Labor Day weekend, was filled with mixed emotions. My DH and I were invited to share in a birthday surprise for a dear friend living in upstate New York, however, the hotel selected for out of town guests did not allow pets. Both DC (doodle children) had their own holiday plans, so it looked like the boys were off to their hotel – Olde Towne Pet Resort!
Based on their “vacation report” (yes…

This young Maltese cross puppy (we estimate 4-6 months old) was found in a trash dumpster in Orange County Caifornia by a couple who did not have the resources to keep her. Thankfully, they contacted American Maltese Rescue and we stepped in. We named her Annie…

Holly is happy because we have switched Bernadette's puppies from an elevated pen to a pen on the floor. We had all the dogs out for a potty break this morning and I realized that Holly had done her morning duty and quickly ran back into the house. I suspected where she would be and I was right.

Is it just me, or when someone talks about “cuddling-up” with their pup, do you envision something small and compact like “Toto” from the movie classic “Wizard of Oz?”…
Or does your mind conjure up something like this?……

Many of you know that Peri and Taquito are expecting their first human sibling...due in 4 weeks!
So this Labor Day weekend DH and I had a looong list of things planned to accomplish around the house, which included cleaning the house, hanging drapes in the den, washing baby clothes, packing the hospital bags, etc....etc...
At the top of that list was getting the darn carseat base installed in our new Volvo station wagon. So Saturday, I am down in the…

All Dogs Go to Heaven was a popular movie when I was a kid. Well, Milton has discovered Heaven on earth, and it's called doggie daycare! Three days per week Milton joyfully hops into Daddy's car, and together they carpool to Downtown Dog http://www.downtowndogdallas.com/. Before Milton entered our lives, I stopped by this daycare with a couple of close friends when they were dropping their two dogs off for the day. I…

Some people live by the ocean, while others have a lake in their backyard or a pool all to themselves, but we have the poor man's pleasure - a bathtub.…

I've been so distraught, but am finally getting over it. After two nights with baby George my son and daughter-in-law decided they couldn't deal with a puppy! Two Nights! Poor little guy was only 8 weeks and they were the first two nights away from him mom and siblings. Oh my, and he peed and pooped on the floor too! I think they forgot what puppies were like - or at least my son did. His wife hasn't ever had a dog and isn't really a dog lover (though I don't understand that anyone…

Halas turned 5 yesterday (9/1). We were going to have his birthday dinner last night, but we were without power for 6 hours, so ordering pizza seemed like a better idea. His birthday dinner was rescheduled for tonight. We are dog-sitting my friends' cockapoo, Bubbles, and my mom's maltipoo, Barley, came over, too. It was a three-doodle party! The following is my advice on how to have a successful Birthday Dinner / Dinner Party.
Step 1: Buy some yummy stuff at the store. I…

Our Vern is part skunk. Sometimes, when his tail goes up, we all run. My husband said the other day we should have named him Pigpen and from the way he smelled that might have been an insult to Pigpen.
He was groomed last Friday and looked gorgeous when I picked him up and smelled even better. The first thing he did when he walked in the house was run to his bed and…

This is Sparrow we have had him since July 6th and he is basically in charge of my life at this point. I admit I did not think a puppy would be as much work as he has turned out to be, but he is worth it; most days!
We are taking him to a puppy training class and working hard on his homework. He has a big heart and a funny personality so the work is worth it. But we are looking forward to the end of his "puppy troubles".
Does anyone know when goldendoodles are fully mature?…

Hey everyone, just wanted to write an update on Snowee, the adorable doodle at the shelter near me. He was adopted! Yep, this adorable guy went to his (hopefully) forever home last week.
The shelter is pretty good about educating and warning people when they adopt a dog, so hopefully the family will be prepared to handle the grooming, and all other…
