Well, things didn't go much better last week. I finally got Finn in to see the vet that I wanted to see. He had two hotspots in his armpits that I hadn't noticed. So he's on antibiotics and I was told to give Benadryl for 3 days to see if it helped. It didn't really help. When I go back, we will try again to see if we can figure out why he is so itchy. She suggested I get him groomed after his hotspots clear up. I have to find a groomer that doesn't crate the dogs. I know Petsmart now has…

News Flash from the IDOG Georgia liasion about this weekend's romp. Due to all the rain we have had another change in venue.
Ok, hopefully this will be the LAST change in plans for the Doodle Romp!
First of all, the weather reports all seem to agree that it will be raining Saturday morning. That has not changed in several days so I am taking a leap of faith that the weather on Sunday will be better. So SUNDAY IT IS!
Our photographer,Bryan Nowak can't be there until…

Sweetie's little girl went to her new loving home today and her boy's new parents are driving down from Central California to pick him up this weekend.
We almost kept Sweetie since she is such a nice dog and has had such a traumatic life. However she is going to a new home with a man who recently lost his wife to cancer and then lost his beloved Maltese two months later. He needs to love Sweetie and Sweetie needs his love. We know that she will be happy being the center of someone's…

One of our newest volunteers (11 years old) noticed all the people gathering around Bandit. She suggested we move our donation jug next to Bandit. Soon the dollar (and many fives) bills started dropping in the jug at a remarkable rate. I also did a quick calculation. I averaged that i was asked "What kind of dog is that?" every 90 seconds over 9 hours. Over the last 20…

Well, Sable's much anticipated debut in Obedience school was pretty fun actually! I was surprised how much she "wanted to learn" and wanted to please me, even if it was for treats! My instructor was nice, everyone was nice in fact, and inquisitive as to what breed she was. I think the class had a pretty typical slice of Americana: 2 goldens, one collie, one Doberman, and Sable! Sable was the youngest and smallest, by a month, and at least 15 pounds! But she held her own at "recess", I mean…

I thought I would write a blog post and let everyone know what is going on with Abel. Abel is now two weeks shy of being four months old. He is fully house broken as far as we can tell. He sleeps through the night and goes to the door when he wants outside. He just needs to start barking so we know he is there! It was my goal to bell train him when he was younger but I kept forgetting to ding the bell. He is still not the best in the yard alone. If I leave him out there alone, even for a…

A DOG'S BILL OF RIGHTS
By Carolyn Krause
1. I have the right to give and receive unconditional love.
2. I have the right to a life that is beyond mere survival.
3. I have the right to be trained so I do not become the prisoner of my own misbehavior.
4. I have the right to adequate food and medical care.
5. I have the right to fresh air and green grass.
6. I have the right to socialize with people and dogs outside my family.
7. I have the right to have my…

Well, we had another race to the vet's this morning after a little bathroom issue. All while trying to race to school and to a doctor appointment for myself as well--all within an hour. Phoebe was supposed to go to puppy daycare for the afternoon as I was chaperoning a trip for my son but she ended up staying in the hospital ward instead! She had some impacted stool and then the vet tested and found an overgrowth of bacteria AGAIN! She is once again on antibiotics--I cannot believe she is on…

Sable is g-r-o-w-i-n-g! She is 9 pounds as of this morning! Wow, I can hardly believe it! She's cute, fluffy, sweet, silly, and a wee-bit naughty... This morning when Grandma Louise arrived, she commenced to hop, twirl and run about the house, bouncing off the walls! So cute...
I've noticed that Sable enjoys hopping around on her hind legs, doing what appears to be acrobatics at times! if I hold up a toy above her nose; she'll hop up, and usually hop backwards a couple steps, it's…

OK, fine. It's not bionic, but it will be much improved. On Friday, I had surgery on my right wrist to fix a tendon problem that I've been having for a couple of years. I have to wear a cast for 2 weeks, but it's not as cumbersome as I expected it to be. It's tough to do things left-handed, but I'm able to use my right hand a little more than I thought I'd be able to. Typing takes a lot longer, so that will probably limit my DK postings for the next couple of weeks. It is taking me forever just…

Last night we went to the super dog show at our fall fair. They are a troop of dogs that show off obedience and do tricks and put on a great show with what they can do. THey have pure breds as well as rescued mix breeds. They are also sponsored by Presidents Choice. They introduced the new presidents choice dog food with a bit of a spiel about it and gave away three bags per show to audience members. I think we'll take a look at the price as it sounds like the idea we have in providing orejin…

This is Becky's daughter again! My dog had a haircut a couple of months ago. Tucker, the goldendoodle, was ashamed at first, but now he won't be all hot in the summer. He used to be 4 times bigger than he was now! That is because his hair was everywhere! Tucker is 1 years old but he looks like a bear! If we didn't give him a haircut, then he would look like king-kong. We are still not sure if he is a big dog, or a small bear. I love my dog Tucker, even if he is ashamed of his haircut!

Poor Bandit has a inflamed paw. He is on antibiotics and Benadryl. I thought maybe a boat ride and a beach romp would cheer him up. He enjoyed the ride but took a rain check on the romping.

I've had a blast the past few weeks. Bette's been home a lot! It's great because she can play with me, take me for longer walks, and pretty much spoil me rotten. I love it! However, sometimes she forgets to enforce nap time, and I get really tired. She seems to have forgotten that I'm a puppy, and I need my beauty sleep... at least a little bit of it.
I've been growing, as you may have guessed, and I've also grown in strength. Sometimes I forget that I'm not so little anymore,…

I have been working with The DRC since we fostered Mickey this past July. The work that they do saving Doodles from a life of hell is just incredible. There are many DK members that have found their Doodle with the help of The DRC.
The DRC is an all volunteer group that spends countless hours pulling Doodles from shelters, puppy mills (Mickey is just one of them), checking CraigsList, Pet Finders and other sites to cross post those…

"Puppet" is what my 14 month old daughter Laila calls the puppy, er, I mean Sable. I guess this is proof that I need to stop referring to Sable as "The Puppy", and use her name, "Sable"... But honestly? I don't even care, because I love to hear Laila point at Sable and say "Puppet!" with a smile on her cheeky little face! She has a dimple above her lip on the right side, and it is so cute, I think it is unique, as I cant' say that I've ever seen a dimple on someone in that particular locale.…

This post is quite hard for me... because it goes to show just how soon this will all be happening. I get married in 17 days. For those of you that don't already know... I decide to do a destination wedding because I didn't want to deal with the pressure of a real wedding. We are getting married on Cocoa Beach and then leaving for our honeymoon right after the wedding. Feel free to visit my wedding website at http://momentville.com/DanAndKendra
Anyways, the thought of leaving…
