First things first.
I have a new gardener.
He is not a goat. His name is Jose.
He has no idea what I’m saying but I got the “one-fify” and gladly wrote a check. The yard is not as perfect as Ken does and he spent a fraction of a fraction of the time. But since our gardener for the last nine years lived alone, I have no idea of his condition. I hope he is well, but I sense he will not be doing yard work for some time.
Jesse was taken off epinephrine last night. He is…

I have been noticing Charlie's behavior toward to the other humans....
When people ( Anyone, in any sex, age, or ethnic background) approaches her to say hello, she seem to be very excited, and happy, want to go see them. She is wagging her tail, romping aroung, etc...
But she would not go to them, let them touch her, or anything.... I get down with her to let her know it is OK, but she would get behind me, pounce around me.( still happily, and excited though) And would not let people…

Jess has had a fever that has been fluctuating for weeks. Today one of the doctors discussed the possible cause, fluid in the gall bladder. A needle inserted and will permit slow draining for six weeks. Was it the cause of the fever? No.
I have felt a little deflated today and I am fighting it to be upbeat. I am not upbeat. I feel like "Debbie Downer."
I witnessed a nurse move his arm (the one that was lacerated to remove blood that seeped from one of the cannula sites…

So....tonight was our first class in Grade One obedience. Previously we went to Head Start Puppy classes. Toby is now 7 months old, very strong, and about 55 pounds or so. I am the principle trainer, as I am smaller than my hubby, and Toby needs to obey me. My husband sat on the sidelines and watched, and assured me that Toby didn't do a worse job than any of the other dogs, but being in the thick of things, I beg to differ. Here are some of the things we "learned", and Toby's (in)appropriate…

This lady is in my Agility club . She was born without arms and has trained Annie, her Doberman, in both agility and obedience. Annie is only the second Doberman to get a championship in both agility and obedience.
Donna is an amazing person.

In a four hour procedure, Jess was closed today. Due to the length of time he was open they had to use a technique with his pectoral muscles I was not too interested in hearing the details of.
And so we wait. The next 36 hours are crucial. I have been on pins and needles which did not make me too perky to meet my new cardiologist. When I went to the office I recognized one of his colleagues as the doctor who took Jess up to cath lab in the first hospital. In making the appointment I had a…

Sorry to take from Harry Potter, or to do 2 blog posts in one morning, but I just wanted to type this out before I forgot to. I just read some news feeds that said that one of Oprah's new puppies (Ivan) has died of parvovirus and the second is being treated for it.

Seriously, OPRAH!??! I'm sure she had every kind of vet, specialist, and money working on this dog, and he still…

My DH went to our camp on Monday and is going to stay for the week or maybe a little longer. HE DIDN'T TAKE THE LITTLE GIRL WITH HIM !!!!!!!!!!! Lucy is with him 24/7 as he is retired and I still work. She is just moping around and when I ask her "where is Daddy?" she goes straight to the door and looks out where he always has his truck parked. I have been on 3 - 11 all week and have had to leave her alone. My grandaughter lives near and comes and lets her out, but I still feel guilty. I don't…

I have a large dog, and was buying a large bag of Purina
at Wal-Mart and was in line to check out.
The woman behind me asked if I had a dog?
Duh?
On impulse, I told her no, I was starting The Purina Diet again. Although I probably shouldn't because I'd
ended up in the hospital the last time. But I'd lost 50 pounds before I awakened in an intensive care ward with tubes
everywhere and IVs in both arms.
Horrified, she asked if…

So, Lizzie is never out of my line of sight unless she is crated or in her ex-pen. This morning, however, she weaseled past me! I guess the office door was slightly ajar and she took the liberty of running the house! I, of course, was getting all of the important DK updates. I could hear her for a minute or two, so I didn't worry about it, she had just peed and pooped outside. Then it got too quiet.....so I went on a search of my little house thinking she had to have escaped to the basement to…

Well, I'm gathering things together for my first camping trip with Lucy and Rusty together. We're going to a photography class in Arkansas being held by Tim Ernst. I am very excited. I found a place to board them while i'm in class. Then we're going to go exploring some of the waterfalls that are very popular in the spring. Lucy has her own backpack that i've been trying to desensitize her to without much luck... mmmmmm... Can't wait to see how this goes... wish me luck!

Tonight was almost a disastrous flop since it took me 45 minutes to make it to a restaurant that was probably 10 minutes away since I left 5 minutes before my 'date' with Tante because I screwed up my google map by NOT putting in the address and NOT realizing it and wondering WHY "Curry Corner" was NOT on the corner my map said it was on and why it wasn't taking only "1 minute" as the map said. LUCKILY Tante found a nice young man at the restaurant who talked me back onto the correct roads and…

Abby just turned 6 months on the 14th of March. She has lived such a sheltered life - poor thing. She had never been out of our yard with the exception of the car. She was a fraidy cat of a lot of things outside. Well, Elizabeth, (Sophies Mom) and I were talking here in DK one evening and decided to meet at an area dog park. The dogs had a blast. Abby was sopping wet and dirty and loved every minute of it. She is a social butterfly - and maybe too much so when it came to the people. She…

My mind has been in conflict trying to construct my emotional state. I have set boundaries for my fear and boundaries for my hope. This conflict has resulted in such stress on my body that I trust a trip to a cardiologist can sort me out. I have done the stress test before. This is where you get to walk or run half naked on a treadmill while a young pimply faced technician gets to look at your boobs, wired of course. This test will take place after a morning at Mayo. Do you think I have a shot…

I thought it was hysterical so I thought I would share...
A couple of nights ago, my dh and I took Cali for a walk. It was a nice night about 60 degrees (heat wave in Ohio) and we decided to sit on the deck outside. Now keep in mind we haven't had any opportunities since we brought Cali home to just sit outside and enjoy the nice weather. Well in my infinite wisdom, I had Cali on the retractable leash still and I thought I will just put the handle end under one of the table legs,…

This week of puppy kindergarten was so much better than last week. We had to work with the dogs this time as opposed to it being a more relaxed orientation and play time. Phoebe was on her game tonight and the instructor was so impressed that she has already mastered 'sit' and 'down' and that we had begun working on 'heel' by ourselves. Since the classes are held at our vet's office, we had the opportunity to put Phoebe on the scale--she is a whopping 16.2# at 10 weeks old. It will be fun to…

I am really unhappy with my groomer! Help! Does anyone know a groomer for a Labradoodle in the North Atlanta area? Alpharetta or C****** would be great!

We pulled in to our hotel parking lot close to 7pm and immediately we went for a jog/walk. As I said before I HATE HATE HATE driving long distances and my thigh was sooo sore! (Clarkipoo is typically the driver of this family and at most I drive 1-2 hours on ANY length trip). Go ahead, laugh at my wimpy self :-p (though I only stopped ONCE when I missed an exit).
So we walked the neighborhood for 10 minutes or so for Rosco to shake out all his potty needs and then while we checked in…
