Hi folks - Lady Peri here!!!!!! It's been an interesting week. On Tuesday morning very very early (before that beeping noise goes off), gran and grandad showed up and guess who they dropped off? Lucy, my cairn terrier friend, who mom says is my "aunt". WTD?
Anywho, we have been getting lots of walks and mom sometimes seems frustrated because she walks me, Tacky and Lucy all at one time. I love it though because we get to prance around and because we can throw her off balance…

Peri had her annual exam yesterday afternoon. She has topped out at 24.6 pounds and is in "perfect" health. The vet and techs were completely OBSESSED! They obviously know her, but she hadn't been to our regular vet that sees Taquito as well since last year.
The vet tech started out by saying "she is the most well behaved doodle we have seen", then turned to Peri and said "you have a very good mama who obviously has taught you obedience". In fairness, Peri was being super good. She…

Some of you have heard me say that Peri will tear through every toy imaginable, aside from Zogoflex toys:
I have been meaning to post this - Peri has a new toy obsession....the Planet Dog Orbo w/ Treat Spot:
We put Sojos treats in them and they are hard for her to get out - she…

Yesterday afternoon I was taking the dogs on their daily afternoon walk. It was HOT, I was tired and we were walking along the start of our greenway, which is adjacent to a very busy road. Two lanes, but still very busy. Peri's collar just came unsnapped - I had the leash and collar in my hand. 5 seconds felt like 5 minutes. My heart was about to leap out of my chest.
I couldn't think of what to do so I just said "Peri WAIT". (why not SIT??) She just stood there…

DH and I recently went to Ireland for a dream adventure vacation! The dood and chi stayed home with mimi and pops and had a grand time.
We found this sign posted in many places. Apparently the Irish are pretty strict when it comes to picking up after your pooch:
That is one hefty fine! I for one always pick up after my dogs, so I wish they would do this everywhere. People have a bad habit of not picking…

So, over the past few weeks, we have pretty much abandoned the crate for Peri. She has been doing great having almost-full reign of the house (we close our bedroom doors and some bathroom doors). We come home every day during lunch to take Taquito and Peri on a walk. Every day, Peri is waiting at the door for us, usually yawning like she has been asleep. We inspect the house every time and have yet to find any remnants of chewing.....(knock on wood!).
I am very proud of my…

I posted a blog a few months ago about my mother not liking Peri. She was getting into her flowers and just being a normal doodle puppy, but mom upset me by saying she "shouldn't be like this now that she is almost a year old". We spend each Sunday at my parents' house for "family day". 4 dogs get to enjoy time together playing around, us humans do fun family stuff like games, movies, etc....
Since the comment my mom made, I have stressed to my parents the importance of not just…

Slightly off topic, but recent posts have made me want to share the following.
The month of May was an interesting month for me. Let's just say I have not been a happy camper due to:
1. flooding and destruction of many of my friends' home in Nashville area
2. sister (my very best friend) moved to Dallas
3. I have been planning 5 million baby showers for all of my friends (told DH I wanted another doodle and no kids - lol)
4. DH losing his contract…

Peri 100% back to normal after her kennel cough ordeal last week. Feels great and I am relieved!
Here's the deal: even before the cough, she was starting to calm down significantly. She is now 13 1/2 months old. We let her have free roam of the house while we are gone now most of the time. She will sleep in on the weekends. We might have one zoomie/month now - I actually miss those - can you believe it?
And here's the real kicker: my mom LOVES Peri now. She even…

Peri's perspective from last week (following the Tennessee flooding disaster - this is me trying to be funny!):
Sooo, Sunday (5/2) you, dad and Aunt Kristin were all stuck inside while it was raining. You were pacing back and forth, calling your human friends and crying. I was confused - so was Taquito!
Monday you took me to daycare and got me trimmed down for my summer cut. I like it. I feel super cute and cool now. But you picked me up at 1:30…

Thanks to my DK family for letting me vent and keeping all of TN in your thoughts. I just wanted to follow up with a photo of my best friend's house and neighborhood. There are thousands of families going through this EXACT same thing right now. It is an odd feeling looking at piles of insulation and drywall outside of people's homes. My husband spent every day with them getting counters out, drywall removed, etc...
You will notice one of the photos has a tree mural in a…

I posted something on this yesterday, but I am posting a new blog sincerely asking my DK friends to keep the state of TN in your thoughts. We have had some serious flooding - parts of Middle TN look as bad as New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.
Judi (Dan, Judi and Timbow) is down in Atlanta and said the national news coverage is not showing the true devastation. She looked at this link and was shocked at the true picture of what is going on here:…

So Saturday was the Middle TN Doodle Romp! The big red doods were there in full force: Astro was of course there and even Timbow's family came up from the Atlanta area for the "lovefest" as I called it (since both are pretty much Peri's boyfriends - LOL)!
The day was just gorgeous - no clouds and about 70 and sunny! Peri played tug-o-war with both Astro and Timbow at different points during the day:…

It seems only yesterday I got the call from our breeder - she said "I am sorry, the litter was smaller than anticipated and we do not have enough males for you". Yes, I was on the list for a male. A few days later, she emailed me asking if I wanted a female - the people ahead of me on the waitlist wanted males only and decided to wait for another litter. I said "ABSOLUTELY YES!", called DH and he said "I secretly wanted a girl!".
Done deal, rest is history. I am in love with…

My mom has always thought Peri is a little difficult and has no problems telling me that. Well today, I had just had enough and finally told her to stop saying anything if she can't say anything nice. Here is what happened.
Last night, my sis came over for our weekly Lost party. Wine was on the coffee table. Peri saw a piece of a toy that I had taken from her (the end of a squineez thingy). She wanted it. Wine came crashing...breaking....big mess. Whatever...she knew she made…

I will spare you the details, but I had a bad bout with food poisoning Monday night/Tuesday morning. Peri girl never left my side. She followed me everywhere. She licked me all over every time I would get back in bed. She was so good yesterday while I stayed home from work - she would go run around and roam the house for a while and I didn't even worry about her getting into trouble (she didn't). My mom came over to walk both dogs and after that quick walk, she got in bed with me and didn't…

I will try to keep this as short as possible, but I will start out with: I AM SO HAPPY I AM IN TEARS! The good kind!
Many of you know that Peri's "big" brother Taquito barely lived through the dog food/treat recalls during 2007. Barely. During a dental cleaning and bloodwork about 6 months ago, my vet found his kidney function to be at a dangerous level...not kidney failure...but early stages. We are about 99.9999% sure this is a long term after effect of his being so sick…
