Did your pups do all this?

It's 10 AM. Sheila made it to 7AM this morning. Yeah. So far I've bundled up 3 times for potty, zoomies.

Sheila has fallen in love w/ the birds, watching them eat, barking at them (hmmm). Played in the new snow (I have a longggggggg training leash so she can zoom and boy, whoever came up w/ that term was a genius (love the romp word, too). She jumped face first into DH winter boots, I would have taken pic but I was afraid she'd suffocate. Then she played in snow, is now braver, going…

Winter Walking Wipe-outs

With the recent dump of snow in our area, I experienced my second major wipe-out while walking Gavin. The first time I fell on top of him. I bragged that he alertly assisted by breaking my fall. DH pointing out that poor Gavin had no choice - I had him pinned! But if he had not been in perfect heeling position...

Yesterday, I wasn't so lucky. I fell off to the right on yet another icy sidewalk that had been neglected by a home owner. I went down hard, but aside from a goose…

Nice To Meet You - I Am Chopped Liver

One of our neighbors down the road has been having some major landscape work done on their front and back yards. The landscapers have been there for several weeks, doing everything from all new plants and trees to a brick driveway.

Penny and walk by there every morning on our walk - the men always smile and say hello.

The work is now finished and the guys were cleaning up this morning. As Penny and I came around the curve, I overheard one guy say to his foreman, "Hey... here… Continue

Photography Lesson: Composition

Besides being technically correct, being well composed spells the difference between an ordinary photo and one with an impact. It is very important to know and understand the common principles of a good composition. We used the word "principles" rather than "rules" because the latter strongly suggests that a…

Sheila Loves Illinois

I am tired, achy, exhausted, happy!! Sheila is a tiny tot, weighing in at 41/2 lbs. at 4 mos. But she is a bundle of energy and reminds me of a hummingbird. She just whirs with excitement, her tail and her whole body wagging, hopping, chewing, p and p-ing. I keep trying to catch shots of her but she is too fast for my camera!!

Luckily Sheila loves snow. She is a true Maine girl, born and bred. That's good, since thats where we spend…

Will She Be A "Girly Girl"??????

So, Monday is over, and I still haven't heard a word from the Shelter about MY Izzy. I've been obsessing all day....carrying the Blackberry around the house so I would know the minute the email came in. Her bed is sitting here empty, and the hot pink collar has no beautiful little girl attached. Her empty dish is sitting in the closet...no home cooked food. Of course, my imagination is taking over, and I'm envisioning Guinness and Izzy running and playing… Continue

1st Bath In The New Doggie Tub Today!

As promised, here is my update after the 1st bath in the New Tub. I'm going to declare it a success. My knees were so happy that they weren't on the floor the whole time. My back, although happier than the bathtub process, will be happier once I get a method for getting them in the tub vs. lifting them in. I didn't get nearly as wet as I get doing it in the bathtub, but I did have to keep track of my hand with the sprayer and remember that the front of the tub was not as tall as the back. The… Continue

Looking back on our two years with Holly...

It has been a little over two years since I flew from California to Texas in order to bring home a little seven pound, seven week old, Goldendoodle that we named Holly because she had been born on Christmas Day. We could not be happier with this darling tall girl who now weighs 65 pounds and is a beautiful buff color.

Holly attracts attention everywhere we go and whenever we take her to visit someone, they always remark how smart and well trained she is. She began attracting…

The recipe for a tired doodle!

Nearly a year later, I found the magic recipe for completely wearing Callie out!

6 hour trial day at a new doggie day care

4 mile walk (with lots of new dogs to meet and grass to sniff)

30 minutes of throwing the tennis ball down the stairs (sorry neighbors!)

Do the steps above in rapid succession. Let doodle get a good night's sleep. Follow up with a 30 minute morning walk and a 2 hour trip to the dog park. You should end up with a well-done dood…

ANYONE LOOKING FOR DOODLE IN FRANKLIN, Indiana Area

Check out this guy .... he is beautiful! Not sure what part of Indiana this is. He is at an Animal Shelter/Animal Control location. I have to run out this morning, but if no one has posted that they have checked on him by the time I get back, I'll give the shelter a call and check on his status.

scary night-happy ending

I went out for dinner with my family last night and left Duncan home. and when i pulled up my block at 8pm there was a sqaud car in my driveway and 7 fire trucks on the block. I went into complete panic mode.
Luckily my house was fine. It was my neighbor's house that had the fire. Apparently their dishwasher went on fire....and it wasn't even on!!!

The one thing I always know about Duncan is that even though i have a tri-level condo he spends most of his alone…

Sheila's Home-What an adventure!!

Sheila and I got home late Thurs. night from Maine. She was such a trooper and what a little doll. We had a twelve hour trip home, and I got Sheila out of her carrier whenever possible. I know you won't believe this, NO ACCIDENTS on the way home (now that we're HOME I can't make that brag-oy)! Maine was gorgeous, warmer than the Midwest. Patty Barnes' operation is something else!! I'll post a couple of pics on my page. The guest quarters was awesome, really like a Maine cabin with kitchen,…

Poisen!

http://www.dogworks.org/poison.htm

Gus' best friend Gracie, my dog sitters dog is clinging to life right now. It's been a rough week. Please read this attachment it could save your dogs life. The one thing I thought was interesting is the bright neon green poop! I honestly wouldn't think a thing about it "oh Gus what did you eat this time?" For us doodle owners let's rethink this. We all know that there are unknowen things in our Doods…

Penny the WonderDog - 5 Years Old Already?!

It's hard to believe that Penny the WonderDog is 5 years old today. It seems like just yesterday that she was an 11 lb. baby that I could hold in one hand.

What a joy she is each and every day. And I'm so happy we've taken hundreds of photos of her over the years, documenting her life with us.

Happy Birthday, Penny!…

Kudos!!!!!!!!!! To West Hollywood!

Just heared on the news tonight "ALL PET STORES ARE BANNED FROM SELLING KITTENS AND DOGS" in hopes to stop kitty and puppy mills. Shelter dogs and kittens can still be displayed, NO MORE sales! I started thinking about this and with everyone here on DoodleKisses if we all went to every Town Hall meeting and expressed how we feel about Pet Stores selling dogs and kittens maybe we could pull this off in our town. I can honestly say "I hate Town Hall meetings!"…

UPDATE #2 on " Honey...Dinner will be late....Murphy ate the meatloaf!!!!"

As earlier posted we did get thru the first night with no problems, a little soft but formed stool, but during the next 72 hours we have had vomiting and diarrhea both. The diarrhea started the next day, feb 18th, which was thurs and the vomiting started Sat. night and again a few hours ago. He is going to the vet in the am, is otherwise looking and acting normal. There is no obvious blood in the stool but it is mucousy. Poor baby. Not sure if it's from the meat, or he contacted…

Agnes' First Birthday Party!

Agnes celebrated her first birthday with friends (4-legged and 2-legged). We held the party at Dogtopia. The dogs had a blast playing, and the humans chatted it up. I am new to taking video and putting it together with imovie, but if you'd like to take a look, here's the video. BTW, I used our new doodle flip camera to video this... too bad Agnes decided to use the flip camera as a chew toy a few days later -- it is destroyed now!… Continue
