I was excited for today - an entire day to just spend with Rooney & my DH - it doesn't happen often at our house. After our morning coffee we headed out with Roo for our usual morning walk, about 2.5 miles on a beautiful, paved hike/bike path through the FL marsh. I used to be afraid to do it with just Rooney and I but in the past 6 months have gotten over that. Yes - you keep your eye out for cougars - one was seen just last week, but the black bears and wild pigs have been removed. …

This a.m. started off just fine - well, except for getting up at 4:30 a.m. to help DH pack and drive him to the airport. I fed Rooney about 5:30, he ate just fine, had aready gone poo and pee and he was just running around like a crazy toddler. The mobile groomer was coming at 9:00 to give Roo a much needed spa day, I was excited - I love it when he is buffed and puffed - so cute. So I'm thinking this is going to be a good day - till 8:15 when Rooney threw up his breakfast. I didn't…

Last week as I was looking forward to DH getting back from China and being excited for our trip to Key West (our Valentine's/Anniversary trip that was postponed due to China) - my phone range and it was the middle child calling to say - suprise - I'm packing up, bringing the new puppy and driving down from Michigan. I was very happily shocked as this child is the only one that NEVER comes to visit us no matter where we are living. Soooo, once again the Key West trip is moved back a month…

Rooney and I packed up our car on Thursday evening so that we could leave very early on Friday. I had gotten one of those new soft, folding crates, a new smaller dog bed and you add that to all the toys, food, dishes, snacks, poop bags, etc., I really felt like I was traveling with a small baby. Luckily for me there was still room for me to bring a few of my things - lol. I got up at 3:00 a.m. and Rooney was strapped into his car seat with his new American Tourister safety harness and we…

Rooney here . . . . . . I turned 5 months old yesterday and it has been 2.5 months since my abduction from "Breeder". "Smelly" - the lady that stole me is now my Momma - and I love her. I realize now that Breeder has other puppies to take care of and that my Mom and Dad took me home because they really needed a doodle baby to love. Every single day we have new adventures together. I am deep into the process of training my Mom and Dad - they were totally clueless. I am on it I assure…

No surgery!!! All I can do is thank God and all of you here on DK for your prayers and good thoughts and the wonderful doctors in Estero. 14 hours of hell but we do have a good outcome IF all proceeds like it should. Rooney did not have an obstructed stomach, whatever showed on the first xrays at 5:00 a.m. did not show on the noon xrays. They kept him on an I.V. all during this time and he had had nothing to eat at all. The second set of xrays did show that his stomach and intestinal…

It is offical - we will be getting Rooney a brother or sister! I'm very excited. DH got back from China in the wee hours today and while on our walk with Rooney agreed that he is totally on board (which is wonderful as I already have put our name on our breeders wait list - shhhhh). We are crossing our fingers for a brother or sister in the April, May, June time frame. Rooney will be 1 in August so I think the timing would be perfect. This time around I am not going to set my heart on a…

I haven't been on DK since the attack, I've just been so upset (at myself) that I couldn't even come to you all for the comfort that I knew would be here. Before I go any further - Rooney is fine, acts like his normal, loving, happy self so I do not think that he has any emotional trauma. We took him back to the dog park yesterday when we knew that it would be empty and he just ran right it so he isn't associating the park with the attack which is good. He is on antibiodics but we never…

Last Thursday I dropped Rooney off at his pet sitter for his first ever overnight. I needed to fly early on Friday to help my daughter pack up her home as she is relocating to Atlanta. I planned to fly home today, Monday. I cried when I dropped Rooney off, I knew he would be happy with Linda - he stays during the day sometimes if I golf but I'd never left him for a night let alone 4 nights. Well I got to MI and every thing went well, we got things packed and loaded in a day with lots of help…

Wow - what a week it has been! I have been to the North Pole to a place more cold than I have ever been. Mom calls it Michigan, aka Frozen Tundra of the North, and home. I just kept looking for Santa and those elves, I never found them.
I first knew something was up when my mom started making piles of her clothes and stuff and then my stuff. She started putting it all in this big red box that had wheels. I kept pulling stuff back out to chew on so mom moved the box on top of…

Rooney and I have a 6:00 a.m. flight tomorrow, ouch. I will get up at 3:00 as will dh whose job it will be to wear him out so that he will want to sleep while cramed under the seat in front of me. Luckily for us we got an upgrade to first class so Mommy will have free Bloody Marys and Roony's dog carrier will have a bit more room. Sadly, first class only lasts till Atlanta where we have an hour and 40 minute lay over and then onto a small plane to South Bend. I plan to limit his water before…

Well, I have finally gotten to the bottom of why I was puppynapped. Dad woke me up very early this morning, 4:30. He said he was leaving. I've come to like him a lot and that made me sad, so I threw myself into the suitcase that Mom was packing for him. She laughed but said "no - I had to stay home". Then Mom got kinda sad too and I heard Dad talking to her.
Dad works very far away from us, he goes to NYC on a big airplane every Sunday or Monday and doesn't get to come back to…

Rooney here - just wanted to let you all know that the K9's have not come to break me outta here yet. I remain hopeful but in the meantime I have been having a whole bunch of adventures. Last night "mom" & "dad" gave me my dinner - Orijen just like Breeder did, yum yum. Then mom took me outside to "get busy" several times but I just wasn't ready so I showed her my zoomies, she calls this frapping - what ever. So no poop. And mom wants to go for a bike ride with dad and take me in this…

Here is what happened – I was born at this great place where there was a big dog that had these totally awesome milk machines on her tummy. I loved those milk machines and she let me have all that I wanted. This dog taught me all that I know about being a puppy, how to jump, wag my tail, all kinds of stuff. Then there was this lady named “Breeder” she was super nice and when me and…
