Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Scenario:
You live in an area called "Tornado Alley" and your town has already experienced two devastating F-4 and F-5 tornados over the last 12-years.
Would you not expect your schoold to be equipped with tornado safe shelters or non-flooding basements?
Or... are not the lives of Oklahoma kids worth the few thousand dollars it would take to protect them?
Along the same lines... A non-intrudable security door would have protected the kids at the Sandy Hook,…

So mommy was nervous, but Buddy and Kona knew where we were and what we were there for! They were all business and went right to work to find their odor and alert me. I think Buddy took all of 17 seconds, and Kona just a little longer.
Everyone get's 3 minutes…

We were at a rescue event in Irvine, CA and a woman came up to us and asked if she could trade in her dog for a smaller one. I thought at first that she was joking but, she was totally serious. The dog at ten pounds was bigger than she wanted.
I told her that we would accept her Maltese as an owner surrender but there would be no way that she would get a dog from us. She was indignant and said, "I haven't had the dog all that long, just 9-months!"
There…

Many of you may have read my discussion about Taquito the chihauhua. We are having to really train him (never did because he is so little - hasn't been a problem - etc...). So now we are trying to "teach an old dog new tricks" - I mean, he has never even sat before. Meanwhile, Peri the doodle has had pretty extensive training, passed her Canine Good Citizen, etc...
So…

I am on my high horse this morning again and as often happens when I am up there; I like to make sure everyone knows why I am sitting high. I am sure many of you have read the comments the CEO of a certain clothing retailer had to say about overweight teenage girls and the “not cool” crowd. Allegedly (see what I learned on Regis and…

I wanted to share my experience with a Pet Nutritionist that I went to on the weekend. It was a fundraising event for a dog cancer program Nikki's Journey which included a 3+ hour (it went long) talk on Dog Nutrition by a local Hali-famous Pet Expert. He was doing the lectures for charity traveling around the province to spread the word.
*** Rodney owns a Pet food store, He studied Pet Nutrition over seas for 6 years. He blogs on Dog…

In an effort to improve our backyard, I have been frequenting Home Depot's Garden Center. I thought Milt looked pretty darn cute sharing the backseat with this big, 'ole fern. …

When I tell you this has been an emotional post for me to write, I am telling you the “doodle truth.”
Leo turned three this month, (my goodness, it’s even difficult to see it in print!) and time has flown by so fast it feels as if I’ve missed a year.
When I realized his birthday was near, I actually got confused about his new age. I had to calculate the dates on my fingers because I was positive I was wrong. But I wasn’t.
Leo was born on May 13, 2010. One of a…

I like this fellow's career advice columns although I am surely not looking for a career. This week he talks about something that really bothers me in others and yet to some degree I too suffer from technology obsession. Is DK included I wonder? Anyway here is a link to an article to ponder.

I was reading an article about a couple in Texas yesterday who are worth 4 Billion dollars and are looking for ways to give it away. They were currently interested in a nutritional study on how we lose weight yaada yaada really I stop reading too closely after I noticed their names....John and Laura (sic) Arnold. Some of you ( really, only some of you?) may be following the adventures of Fudge and Vern and most particularly their mom, Laurie (and DH John) who is obviously an alias for this…

I would just like to personally thank Laurie, Doris and F and everyone who contributed their “two cents” to one of the best blogs I have read since I have joined DK. To begin with, it was an awesome story of people coming together and sharing the one love we all have in common, our Doodles. Even though most of us have never met and we live all over the country, after a few months on DK we feel like neighbors. Laurie’s original blog, F’s “Back Side of the Story” and Doris bringing us to…

…come on in and make yourself at home, the boys and I are so happy you stopped by!
As I picture you sipping your morning latte’ (either at work or in your kitchen) and getting your “doodle dose” for the day while looking at our new site – I giggle with delight! It’s impossible to translate into words the degree of “pleasure” those thoughts give…

This article is about actual research done to see just how long today's vaccines will protect a dog--the vet who conducted the research is urging vets to vaccinate less frequently. Of course, this comes at a time when many vets are already struggling to pay the bills, so who knows if they will listen--that is why we will have to advocate for our pooches!…

Several weeks ago I noticed Kona had a sore on his tail. It got to be the size of an almond with a black dot in the center. I took him to the vet. A new vet I had never seen before put him on a course of antibiotics. When the 10 day course finished the wound looked the same.
My regular vet saw him this time and told me Kona had a tumor and since it didn't respond to the…

I think the title sums up the situation. Our family had 2 small Yorkies then my youngest son said he was ready for a dog of his own. We thought about another Yorkie, because allergies are such a huge issue. However........
The opportunity to get a mini golden doodle puppy came at the same time. I researched the breed, it looked like the perfect opportunity. So, what I have now is a very active 12 pound puppy, who wants to play, nip, swipe, and pounce on two very small laid back…

I am not sure if anyone had noticed, but I was not on DK much last week and I have a very good reason. Surely someone in the Photography group has missed my 200 daily submissions of Fudge and Vern, but maybe I am overstating my importance. Since the cruise, Doris (Knox&Flash) and I have kept in touch and I have been encouraging…

Last week at Spuds first vet appointment, I learned he had an ear infection. WHAT!!!! Basically, A week ago, I gave Spuds a bath, cleaned his ears with ear wash, and used the blow dryer to dry them, however, I should have bought the powder and removed the hair in the ears before I trapped all of that water in the ear from all of the hair. SIGH.
He is looking very fluffy, but I didn't want to groom him until he had been seen by the vet and had his next set of shots.
The vet…

Mother's Day 2013 was the very first time that I felt like I could truly share in this holiday! Did I recently pop out a kid, unbeknownst to anyone? No. I am a dog mom, and I am proud of my baby boy. Sure, my boy might be incredibly furry with a big tail, but I have mothered the heck out of that guy for the past year, and I am rather pleased with myself. Jeff thinks it is ludicrous that I cover Milt's ears when Jeff refers to him as a "dog," but he truly is my…
