Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
For this blog entry I just wanted to list reasons why DK is so great. I thought this would sum up our first month of dealing with all of the puppy craziness.
I have learned a few things...
1) Giardia will not ruin your first few weeks home with your new puppy. Panacur works. I don't think I have ever been as excited to get the test results of a stool sample before.
2) Two words: Snuggle Puppy. Not trying to sound like the mom who says her baby is sleeping…

When we were looking for houses to buy, one of the questions I asked was, “how often does the power go out?” Most people do not think twice about lost power, but I am not most people. Our house in Pennsylvania lost power, it seemed to me, during almost any major weather event. Usually, the power company had to come out and do something to a breaker box on our street, but I always swore we were last on their list because sometimes it took days for that to happen. Power would be on all…

I can hardly believe how this happened....I kept thinking there is no way I would have allowed my dog to get fat. It must be DHs fault.
I took Murphy in for his yearly check up and vaccinations and he has ALWAYS been between 60-64 pds MAX! He was a whopping 70.5 pds. I even had to take his harness off, like we take our shoes off when being weighed at the doctors!
I have always prided myself on keeping my guys fit, lean, active, well fed with 5 star kibble, homemade meals and…

Sometimes all that fleecy fuzz is too much and out come the scissors. Yes, we get her professionally groomed every 6 weeks and yes, we are so grateful that she doesn't shed.....but it was time for a trim. Ruby stood still while we snipped her legs and tail with…

On most nights you will find me in my bedroom watching TV. Since John and I don’t really like the same shows, he watches TV in the living room in the evenings and I go back in our bedroom. Fudge usually starts herding me into the bedroom around 8 pm and makes it known that it is her bedtime and she needs her beauty rest. I pride myself on the fact that my dogs have a pretty good routine, but sometimes that comes back to bite me in the “you know what” when things get changed up. On the few…

So, my daughter has been asking for a new dog for a couple of years now and I think she is now old enough to assume some of the responsibility. (She'll be 7 and is very motherly). So we have a crate, a pen, a dog walker, toys, a vet appointment, and we picked the perfect puppy (of course!). Lily is calm and our breeder (who breeds many service dogs) says that her temperament is great for service. We pick her up on Friday. I know this is about to mean more middle of the night wake ups,…

My DH was at the local beach yesterday with Quincy. They came home and he was puttering around for an hour or so. Then he came into the kitchen and handed me a note with a name and telephone number. "We met a retired couple who want to re-home their doodle. He's too much for them." DH told me he sat there at his computer debating on whether to tell me. LOL.
So guess who came for a sleep over! He'a an 8 month old F1 who has a gentle doodle personalty with the typical…

As many of you know who have been following my blogs over the years, at best, my taste can be described as eclectic. My kids have another name for it, but suffice it to say, my decorating taste is creative. You have been with me through the five-foot metal rooster, the anatomically correct metal goat, and my addiction to pots.
No, he is not thirsty, it was an assignment idea for a photography class!…

Jasper is a loving golden doodle dog who has recently been diagnosed with t-cell lymphoma. His only hope for survival is a stem cell transplant that must come form a sibling of his litter. The breeder has already been contacted and has no info on the owners of his sibling. Jasper desperately needs a bone marrow donor and for the donors generosity we are willing to provide a $5000 reward if the donor agrees to the painless and stem cell donation. the donor must be born in Langley BC…

I received this email this morning for the organizer of the Seattle Doodle Meetup. I wanted to share this with this community just incase there is a sibling out there for Jasper -
A message from a doodle lover:
My name is Jasper and I'm a 9 year old goldendoodle who is very loving and loyal (if i do say so myself). A couple weeks ago I was diagnosed with T-cell lymphoma and am sad to hear my only hope to live is a stem cell transplant. My family made me an Instagram in hopes of…

I sit down to write this after I just put my two kids to bed and my husband is reminding me that I probably don't have time to write a blog: he is right. I am staring at my new double doodle as she sleeps peacefully, well until 9:00 and then it is play time again, and smile. She has just been such a joy and blessing to our family that I wanted to write about it.
Originally, when we decided to get a new puppy, we were planning for the summer. I am off of work during the summer and…

When you move, you don’t really realize all the “start overs” you will have to do until you get there. A couple of weeks ago Vern was very sick and I had to find a vet on short notice. It started out with him throwing up and peeing blood and had both of us so scared with how sick he got so quickly. I quickly had to find a vet and used Yelp for reviews and ended up taking him to a Vet who I really like. Vern had to get an IV for fluids, shots for anti-nausea, antibiotics, X-rays, and a…

Time is just FLYING by!
Ludo turned 6 months old on the 5th and graduated puppy kindergarten yesterday!!
Daycare:
Ludo is continuing to grow and gain confidence, literally, every time he attends. He's playing with the big dogs more and more. They said he really likes playing with them but sometimes that they just get a little too rough and it's overwhelming. I feel so grateful that they will allow him to go at…

It has been a long time since I last wrote on Doodlekisses. Sam and I have had a great time learning in puppy class. He is so much fun! He graduated and we will continue on to the next level. We are hoping to go to classes for Sam to become a Therapy Dog for visiting hospitals and elementary schools. My life has been enhanced by having this bundle of energy in my life!…
