Heartfelt Stories

How Could You?

When I was a puppy I entertained you with my antics and made you laugh. You called me your child and despite a number of chewed shoes and a couple of murdered throw pillows, I became your best friend. Whenever I was 'bad,' you'd shake your finger at me and ask 'How could you?' - but then you'd relent and roll me over for a bellyrub.

My housetraining took a little longer than expected, because you were terribly busy, but we worked on that together. I remember those… Continue

Remington's New Tuffy Toys

I know that most of you are not as impressed with Tuffy Dog Toys as I am, but they are one of the only brands of toys I have found that hold up to Remington's chewing... that and the Skinnez! Anyways, we had to order him some more toys recently since the only ones he has left were the Tuffy Toys. The rest had to be thrown away to our dismay because he was eating through them. All that hard earned money spent on toys that only lasted him about a week... uhhggg! So once again we decide to spend a… Continue

Teeth.

My little Daffney is losing her teeth, yay. She is almost 5 months. She is growing up so fast...I love it and hate it all at the same time. But when my mom was watching her she found a tooth on the floor. So, I have my baby's tooth =).
Well, while I'm writing this she is barking so I will tell more when her big girl teeth start coming in.

Doodle Diary, Day 7

Yeah! Sable has been with us for a week!!! Today she had her vet appointment. I forgot my paperwork at home...So they weren't sure about what vaccines to give her. No big, I just ran home and faxed it over, she got her shots & exam, and she is healthy! But of course I already knew that... I had fun using my new "Furminator" on my big labs outside today, Sable was awfully curious about all the "fluff" flowing around on the lawn. Sable has slept almost ALL afternoon, am I to assume it's from… Continue

Hello everyone! What a friendly site! After reading some of the other blogs I see I am at the right place. Very cool! Getting my first doodle on the 18th. I want to do this right so I really could use advise! This is my first "large dog". If anyone could give me pointers on food- I was thinking of going with Prizm growth formula. 21 weeks old, and 13 weeks in!

Yesterday Penny went back to the Happy Puppy Park day care for a half-day romp with the pack. 9am to 1pm, ten bucks! It don’t get much better than that! When we went to pick her up, on entering the compound, we were immediately surrounded by approximately 30 dogs. Neither Jeri or I payed any attention to them as we walked in, we’ve watched the Dog Whisperer enough to know that. They were all calm, no jumping, no barking, no excitement, just milling about, curious as to who we were. It’s really… Continue

Yankee attacked!

I am totally freaked. About 3 weeks ago a black doodle named Jackson came running towards us and Yankee slammed him to the ground and stood over him. We know this dog, have walked with him and they have played.

That experience shocked me because Yankee is so gentle and timid but I chalked it up to him protecting us.

This morning at the dog park, we ran into Jackson & his owner. We were chatting when Yankee jumped Jackson, had him on the ground and was biting at him while… Continue

Doodle Diary, Day 6

"Sable, Sable, under the table." That is what my daughters say! Sable does in fact like to snooze under the table by our feet, or under an empty chair. I love it! Today Sable came to our local elementary school with me when I had to put on my "soccer mom" hat and hand in my game schedule to the principal. Teachers and students alike ooohed and ahhhed, and fawned over my sweet Sable baby, naturally!

Yes folks, I am a real live "Soccer Mom", once thought to be going extinct...Now,… Continue

5 months old

It's hard to believe that Kai is five months old! Our latest adventure was the dog beach in Long Beach. He wasn't sure what to think of it at first but then he loved it!

We just got back from vacation in Aruba. Kai spent the week at "camp". We use a place in El Segundo called Greatful Dogs. There are no cages (The dogs sleep on dog beds in rooms with a person and during the day the run around the facility, they even have pools for them!) and everyone their is so nice. Kai met with… Continue

Just Had To Share How 1 Doodle Learns From the Other

I was giving the girls their nightly treats and of course, they must work for it. My philosophy is that there is no free lunch.

I have been teaching Samantha to play dead by 'shooting her' and saying BANG. She did it and got her treat. Charli saw that Samantha got treat much faster since Charli was busy looking at the treats instead of 'looking' at me when asked. What did she do??? She laid down and 'played dead' too!!

I never worked on it with Charli but she just copied what Samantha… Continue

Worried about my baby Hunter getting spayed tomorrow :-(

Call me crazy, I am feeling so worried about taking my baby Hunter to be spayed tomorrow. I just know it is going to break my heart when I leave her and she looks at me wondering why I am leaving her :-( I feel bad that she is going to be in pain afterwards, and really there has to be pain after any kind of surgery. I am actually taking to her a spay and neuter clinic to have it done. That actually makes me feel better to know that the vet does this ALL the time and cares enough to spend their… Continue

Clothing for Doodles

I'm guilty of gazing at the dog clothing when I go to WalMart and PetSmart and thinking how "cute" they'd look......oh WAIT! I'm getting a DOODLE, not a chihuahua!!! Can you see a dress on a standard doodle?! Yikes! Okay, I bought her a t-shirt that says "Kiss Me, I'm Housebroken". Likely I will put it on her long enough to take her photo and then relieve her of the burden. Buttttttttttttttttttt, I still look at the cute dresses, and the t-shirts. But I'm adopting a doodle, so the most I will… Continue

Evening Craziness

Toby was one in August. He is now over 65 pounds. We do our best to keep him active and exercised, and yesterday he was out and about with us, had two 1/2 walks, and basically had a pretty good day, as dog's days go. But last night, as seems to be the norm lately, he got all crazy, overactive, would not settle down, etc. It's almost like an overtired toddler - the longer it goes on the worse he gets, and even though he's just playing, it gets a little rough - not biting, of course, but knocking… Continue

My Inaugural Blog Post: Sookie the Genius Dog

Hi! I'm Adria. My husband is Dan. We both use this account, so apologies if we confuse you.

Dan and I just got our first dog, Sookie, an F1B apricot and cream labradoodle. We have been married for two years and live in Portland, Oregon. Sookie is named after Sookie Stackhouse, the main character of Charlaine Harris' Southern Vampire Mysteries. I am going to try to use this blog to chronicle our life starting with this 7 week old pile of cuteness, because I'm pretty sure my Facebook… Continue

Dirty Doodle Feet

Holly has big paws and we don't like them clipped closely like a poodle. She loves to run in the morning at the back of our property where she gets her feet all muddy. We noticed while we were dog-sitting our daughter's Labrador that the Lab's feet never got as dirty as Holly's even when they were running in the same area.

We have solved the muddy feet problem by using an old recycled tupperware pitcher filled with water and a drop or two of dog shampoo. It's a quick dip in the… Continue

... 10 months of Doodle Fun!!

Cali has been with us a little over 10 months and she is not the same timid scared puppy. She now runs around, tears up trash, jumps up for treats and barks at anything that moves in the yard. She also lets us know whenever "anyone" comes through the front door... I think she is pretty comfortable, not sure but take a look at this pic and let me know what you…
