First off, thank you everyone for my wonderful birthday wishes!!! It made my day!
Lizzie is very happy to have a live-in buddy. So that makes every day a doodle romp in our house! Here is our blog-story on a normal morning of fun in the Lehner household.
Note: I have two naked doodles because 1)marley hasn't grown out yet from his first shave (necessary after the coat neglect) and 2)Lizzie and the snow/mud/play buddy were all harsh on her coat; she is a happy…

It’s official, Rowdy has allergies! :( We’ve been having a terrible time with Rowdy scratching his face. He would scratch the side of his face until it would bleed. We made numerous trips to the vet and he referred us to a veterinary dermatologist. We finally got skin testing done yesterday and Rowdy indeed has allergies. He is allergic to three kids of mold (Fusarium mix, Aspergillus, and…

I can't wait to meet the other DK members and their doods at the doodle romp in Canton, Connecticut on Saturday! If you want to get in on it, check out the posts on the New England Doodles group page.
I will be a bit embarrassed to bring my Lyric--she has a nice big, fluffy head and a very skinny shaved body. I think my groomer sees one mat and shaves the whole dog. She had some mats here and there, but I didn't expect all her hair to be very short! Oh, well, it will grow back! I did…

Today I decided that I just had to go to TJ Max and do a little shopping for myself. I haven't been shopping for myself in months - having been overcome with "puppy madness". Shopping is limited in our area and TJ MAX has always been not only convenient but my favorite place to shop for clothing, jewelry, handbags....you name it! So....today I was going to treat myself. How was I to know that since last shopping at TJ's they've changed there front layout......just as you walk in the door there…

Today it was 90 degrees in CT. Murphy was not a "happy camper". We went for our morning walk, and all he wanted to do was turn around and come home. He decided he needed a nap half way through the walk around the block. Guinness was not too thrilled that we had to stop and give "the baby brother" a break. All day he was panting and/or sleeping. He drank "gallons" of water, and peed every 30 minutes. He clearly wanted the air conditioning on, but it's APRIL. I couldn't bring myself to do it.…

A woman brought a very limp duck into a veterinary surgeon. As she laid her pet on the table, the vet pulled out his stethoscope and listened to the bird's chest.
After a moment or two, the vet shook his head sadly and said, "I'm sorry, your duck, Cuddles, has passed away."
The distressed woman wailed, "Are you sure?"
"Yes, I am sure. The duck is dead," replied the vet.
"How can you be so sure?" she protested... "I mean you haven't done any testing on him…

On the way home from Puppy Class (on graduation day!) wearing his doggie seat belt:

Being accosted by my 2 year old son in his crate... the two year old LOVES Sammy dog... but I am pretty sure that Sammy simply tolerates my son Teagan and the love fest is not mutual at this point...…

So we have had Sammy for about 7 weeks now. Seems like he has been ours for longer than that though. Can't quite image not having him! He is our first family pet and first dog and it has been a whole new experience for our family. I have 4 boys ages 11, 7, 7, and 2. One of the twin boys prompted the purchase of Sammy --he has been asking for a puppy or dog for well over a year but I was waiting until the baby got bigger and I felt ready and could make a time commitment to a puppy. I liked the…

Before I knew we had to put Houdini to sleep this summer I had taken some pictures of him. I have not been able to look at them, or develop them. I was just looking at some new pictures of Achilles and kept going to the pictures of my other boy. The only place I thought to share this traumatic event was here on DK. I know all of you would understand and appreciate it. So here is a picture of one of the loves of my life. Houdini was smart, sensitive, hysterically funny just a joy to have in my…

Last night, my youngest was walking Phoebe around our front yard--think super tiny yard with me beside him and Phoebe in her head collar which makes her a super listener..usually). My daughter decided to try to upset my son by racing in front of him...can you imagine what happened next? Phoebe took off after her like a shot and my son tripped and fell letting go of the leash. I remained 'eerily calm' as my DH told me and followed her into the back to see where she was headed while I sent DH…

I can't believe Hershey is 1 years old today! It seems like we just brought him home. I still feel like like we are going through crazy Puppydom, in fact we still are. Hershey is a goofy as ever. He can run by the coffee table and steal something right off, without skipping a beat! His walk looks more like a "Poodle Prance" and a "Labrador Walk" Hershey thinks he's a "
LAPradoodle" rather than a "Labradoodle" at 86 lbs, that can be a bit…

It seems only yesterday I got the call from our breeder - she said "I am sorry, the litter was smaller than anticipated and we do not have enough males for you". Yes, I was on the list for a male. A few days later, she emailed me asking if I wanted a female - the people ahead of me on the waitlist wanted males only and decided to wait for another litter. I said "ABSOLUTELY YES!", called DH and he said "I secretly wanted a girl!".
Done deal, rest is history. I am in love with…

Wilbur got neutered this past Thursday, and was pretty mopey until Saturday morning (evidently, me making him a bunch of chicken didn't really make up for me having his testicles removed!). We had a pretty normal weekend, with one exception...Wilbur figured out how to break out of the kitchen. To be fair, it is closed with french doors and a few good solid jumps will open it. Wilbs had just not attempted this previously. He's been such a good boy, that I really didn't fret over it too much.…

I have a big huge question and was wondering if any of my friends have a answer. We went to Chicago to visit family this past weekend, and Wilson came along. My niece has a Boston Terrier cute dog , but when wilson saw him he turned to me and put his head in my lap, He was telling me please do not make me visit with this dog around. We kept Wilson outside and was playing with him, Kelly took Murphy out on his leash I kicked a soccer ball, toward Wilson but unfortunately to ball rolled near…

Oh my. . . for the past couple of months--after virtually no shedding at all--Chervil has started dropping big clumps of hair. She has a very thick, soft wavy-curly coat--and it takes considerable grooming to keep it in good shape. I brush her every night, and now I'm getting brush-fulls of hair. It's a bit like the worst of both worlds: lots of maintenance, and shedding, too. I just got a furminator, which pulled out a freaking' ton of hair. I'm hoping this is her baby coat (although she's 15…

I've had dogs before..... big ones, small ones, scruffy ones and gruffy ones.... but never have I joined forums about dogs.

Never before have I spent more time looking for doggie collars and doggie beds than looking for anything for myself. He even has a jumper (for when he gets his hair cut and its cold!).... and a dressing gown (for when he's wet!).
I even have a sweatshirt with my favourite picture of my…

DK members, Barbara, Lee and Lexi Seidman & I drove last Monday to a kill shelter in Naples, Florida to pick up their first foster for the DRC. Zeke is a 3 year old, 85 lb, aprioct and blond F1 LD. He is the most sweet, loving, quiet, polite, ball obsessed, well trained boy. He comes when called - even in the park! He sits when asked & walks beautifully on the leash. Zeke is not the typical 'silly' Doodle like my Charli, but he is more serious like my Samantha. They actually look…

Spring has officially sprung here in the ATL. Here are some highlights of the good: It is truly gorgeous...bright green grass, flowering trees, and brilliant yellow forsythia (a favorite of mine) everywhere you look. Thirsty Dog Tavern (a bar where you can bring your dog) has at long last opened and I can't wait to take Callie...they will have milkbone hunts and a kibble menu (how cute is that?). The weather has been lovely, and Callie, Wilbur, and I have been going on marathon walks…
