F. Brogan's first 2 weeks...

Brogan is doing well and settling into life being an indoor dog and getting fed on a regular basis.

Two weeks ago he weighed 52 lbs; on Friday at the vet he weighed in at 56.7 lbs. That is almost 5 pounds in 2 weeks. But he still looks so skinny. You can still see his bony hips, every vertebra and his ribs. Brogan is a talker and leaner. When you scratch him he leans his head into you and groans with pleasure. He loves rough housing with…

What's in a name........

OK, so the name I keep coming back to is Hines Ward, after my favorite Pittsburgh Steeler. Here is a comparison between Hines Ward (Steeler's wide receiver) and (possibly) Hines Ward (doodle):

Hines Ward (Steeler) Hines Ward (Doodle)

I see Doodles everywhere!

Is it my imagination but as soon as I get a Labradoodle...everyone I see has one??? How is that possible??? I pick the most awesomest dog breed mix in the whole wide world....and everyone follows me?? How is that possible...again I ask?? LOL!

I have a few comments: 1. Why is it that when Samson does not eat his food, and I sprinkle it with parmesan cheese, he gobbles it up...and 2. How I love love love the front page picture slide show. I…

Quinn's first appointment with an allergy specialist

*Copied from the Atopic Dermatits Support Group. Join us if you're having allergy issues!*

I could kick myself for not doing this sooner.

We had our first appointment with the specialist today, and what a great fit. He's super nice, and seems extremely knowledgeable about seizures in addition to allergies, which is very important for us. (Quinn is epileptic.) In a very nice way, he explained all the things our general vet has done wrong so far. First off, of course, he said… Continue

Brief Doodle Update.....pictures to follow soon!!!

Yay! The Doodle has arrived. Yesterday was a BIG day for me and the Dood. After we left Dixie's, it took about 5 minutes for the puppy to get out of his harness and seat belt. SIGH. So I am driving on I-35 and trying to stuff my face with a Chick-Fil-A Wrap at 3 pm in Friday before Easter traffic, north of Austin TX, while a chocolate Doodle is climbing over the console of my car and trying to get in my lap. Let the puppy shenanigans begin!!! So, we pull over, re-adjust harness, and get back on… Continue

Spring Days at Sunset Beach

The Two Doodles have had a good time at Sunset Beach this week! But Java Joe has been demonstrating some bad behaviors! This will have to be corrected immediately!

Joe is hyper. Super smart, but hyperactive to the max! I have known this since I took him to puppy class expecting him to be a star. Joe knew everything Capp knew when he was just 6 months, and Capp who is 6 months older had been… Continue

Puppy Class Graduate!!

So proud of our little Sammy! He is now officially a puppy class graduate. We will even send off for the AKC STAR Puppy training medal because I know my 7 year old will like it. I am really proud of my son too. Class has been on Friday nights and I know some times he would rather have stayed home to play with friends but he never complained and he is really quite a shy kid but he clearly and loudly will call his dog in front of a group of people. He does really well with Sammy. We will… Continue

it WAS a frisbee

So Duncan Doodle was playing with his GS Pointer friend Bailey. There was think Kong Frisbee that had been chewed at a lot for a long time at the dog park until all that was left was a ring (the whole middle was chewed out). Bailey wore it around his neck and Duncan decided he HAD to get it. He eventually did succeed. See video attachedIMG_1239.MOV

Mater's Premiere makes the news

I can't figure out any other way to share the article except to include the link. So click here for the article and photo.

The Premiere Party was a blast and Mater really loved it! The limo right might have been his favorite, but he had a great time with all of the people at the party too. Great friends, Purina was wonderful as were their associates that put on the event. It was…

Where is the video camera when you need it??

Since there was none at that time, figures doesn't it, you need to close your eyes to picture this.

Samantha, Charli and I went to dinner at Barbara, Lee and Lexi's house to see their foster, Zeke, and to have dinner. The 4 doodles had a wonderful time playing chase around the pool, playing ball and being doodles.

After dinner, we are sitting outside on a lovely Southern Florida evening. Lee is throwing the ball and all 4 are chasing…

Hair and Matts!

For the past few weeks I have been trimming Abel's hair. Most evening's he is pretty good and will just lay there. He was getting pretty long and hot so I just trim him a bit every night haha. Even though we brushed Abel a couple times a week I discovered he has matts! His armpits, ears, and beard/moustache had some pretty bad ones. There were a couple random matts that were easy to cut out. I had to spend A LONG time on his ears and beard though. I think he may still have some. I am quite… Continue

Beemer Update - Week 2 - Second Hip

What a difference a week makes....our little Beemer is wagging his tail (must be kind of hard because he wags his whole back end!). He had his stitches out today and the vet said everything looks great. You can no longer see the scar on his left hip and by next week you won't be able to see the one on the right hip either....The most difficult part is the healing process will take quite a while longer and once you don't see those scars you kind of forget...except for the funky haircut....but… Continue

Splatter: A Scene from a Doodle Horror Film

My darling 15 month old Chervil just about did me in. Two days a week, we crate her for the afternoon while we're at work. She loves her crate so that's no problem, and we have a dog walker come in those days so she gets a good run in the middle of the afternoon. Yesterday I got home from work--Chervil had probably been crated about two hours since her walk--walked into the house and it stunk. Bad. "Oh no--she rolled in something," I thought (naively). Through the kitchen, up the stairs, to the… Continue

Big Milestone for Shelby!

Shelby is my first dog ever and I am the only one in my household, so crate training was a must. Since the day I brought her home, she has been crated while I am at work and at night. I've been coming home for an extended 2 hour lunch each day... we go for a walk, do some training, burn some energy and then go back to the crate until I get home from work. Shelby and I typically go to bed around 10:30pm... and sometimes she has been getting up a bit too early for my taste... 5:30am! So, I had…

PET TAX! HELP TO STOP THIS LAW FROM BEING PASSED!

Everyone... please go to the link below!!! THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!

Our governor is trying to pass a pet tax law. This would include that every animal in a person's home would be taxed by weight! So say you had 4 horses??? You got it, they would be taxed... and by weight!! 5 Doodles... you got it... you would be taxed per animal! Please click on the link below to make sure this law does not get passed!!! If it passes in Indiana I would think that they will pass it in other… Continue

Fat dogs with worms

Took the dogs to their 5 year checkup today. Turns out they both have worms (2 different kinds!) and are 3-4 lbs over their max. weight. How did this happen? They get at least 3 hours of offleash exercise every day and both are pretty active hunters and spend most of the day running around outside. The vet said their metabolism slows down around this age and to feed them less. I'm pretty sure they'll be acting hungry after eating two sad scoops of food each, so I'm wondering if I should…

Achilles The Pick Pocket

Achilles is going through another phase of puppyhood. Things he would leave he now takes and chews. Today he grabbed my son's wallet. He had the wallet in his mouth when I noticed. Took the wallet out after some prying. My son Griffin could not find the money that was in it. Guess where it was, under his tongue! Go figure!!!!!

Silly husbands

So, because I need to be working on my research paper for publication, naturally I am posting on my blog instead.

My husband was so against me getting a new dog last year when I informed him that I was going to put a deposit down on a Doodle for a spring-time baby. He said "I don't want another dog" (this after we lost 3 dogs last year). My reply "EVER???" (this will not work for me because I always have a big dog). He said "Not right now" and I said "Well that is good, because it… Continue

Is our Peri "out of control"???

My mom has always thought Peri is a little difficult and has no problems telling me that. Well today, I had just had enough and finally told her to stop saying anything if she can't say anything nice. Here is what happened.

Last night, my sis came over for our weekly Lost party. Wine was on the coffee table. Peri saw a piece of a toy that I had taken from her (the end of a squineez thingy). She wanted it. Wine came crashing...breaking....big mess. Whatever...she knew she made…
