The Great Hot Dog

So let me preface this by saying that Yoda's favorite toy is a hot dog. Awhile back I bought him a stuffed hot dog. He promptly proceeded to tear the hot dog out of the bun and rip half of the stuffing out of it. From then on he has carried the half-stuffed hot dog around whenever his humans are otherwise occupied and won't play with him. He prances around the house like he is carrying a trophy, throws it up in the air and catches it, and occasionally just lays down and chews lightly on… Continue

2009 Calendar of Doodles?!

My parents were surfing around on Doodlekisses.com and noticed somewhere there was a contest of pictures to be submitted of people's doodles to go into a 2009 Calendar, any body heard about that? I would like to submit a few possible photos of Reilly. :)

Let me know!

Hope everyone's holiday was wonderful and everyone is getting ready for the Christmas cheers!

Kind regards.

Happy Birthday!

12/2/08 marks the birthday of my new puppy! She and her 8 litter mates were born yesterday evening. And I think they are the cutest 1-day old puppies ever! (Not that I am biased or anything!)

I have announced it to the entire extended family and hospital, since I found out while at work. Now begins the shopping and puppy-proofing.

I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!! 8 weeks seems like forever!!

WOOOOO!!!!!

I'm too excited to write a logical blog post, sorry.

She's "Unadoptable". . . NO. Your wrong.

As many of you know, my husband and I decided to foster Sophie for Second Chance Rescue. She is our first foster dog. Last night, my husband and I talked for hours about this wonderful experience we have had.

See, she has been through alot, escpecially taking in to account the fact she could not see much. She had lived for her whole life in one home and was well taken care of there to my knowledge. Due to difficult life circumstances, the owner had to surrender her to a humaine… Continue

11 weeks

Oliver is getting so big! Or really, it's his legs that are getting much longer! I know I say it all the time, but he is SUCH a good boy! It's like I'm waiting for the terrible, puppy stage to kick in! He is constantly looking directly in my eyes to see what he should be doing. It's like he's having a conversation with me but only with his eyes! Whenever he's not sure what to do, I swear I can see his brain working. Usually during our eye contact during these times he will sit very… Continue

Rosco played a sheep today

This morning at the dog park (I only had Rosco with me) a cute six month old blue merle border collie decided Rosco looked like a small cow/large sheep. Every time I threw the ball for Rosco, the BC gave chase with no interest in the ball itself. When Rosco would lie down to chew on the ball, the BC would hunker down about 6 feet in front of him and watch him intently... LOL At one point, as I was walking toward Rosco, the BC essentially heeled on one side of me as if "working with me." It was… Continue

I got through with a couple of housekeeping chores and went back to the kitchen and the butter was gone... mmmmm... I thought I'd put a stick out to soften.. sigh.. go to the fridge to get a stick.. there's a stick missing from the box.. I DID put it out!! LUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCYYYYYYYYY... and she comes running with the greasiest beard you've ever seen!! Yes.. sigh.. she'd been counter… Continue

Can your doodle tell time?

Mazie is unbelievably accurate about telling time. She eats at 7am and 5pm and God help you if you're in the middle of something and try to postpone her meal for, oh, I don't know, 5 minutes? She is relentless! Usually my sweetheart feeds her and takes her out in the morning (much safer for all involved, since I am NOT a morning person) and I'm in charge of dinner. Well, John left early this morning and left Mazie sleeping (on the bed - which is a BIG treat for her) with me. At 7:01am she was… Continue

Golden Doodle Owners...Is there a difference when dad is golden or poodle?

Hey friends...

I am curious if it matters the combination of the parents on how the dog turns out. My uncle has two dogs one with a poodle dad and one with a poodle mom and our Cooper has a poodle dad. I just wondered if people have an opinion on if it matters and if so, what have you found the differences to be.

Have a great holiday.

What's going on with my doodles hair?

Can anyone help. I love what my puppy looks like. He is about 17 weeks old. For some reason he has one area, on top close to his tail, that is completely different than all the rest. My vet thinks that he is chewing on it. I don't think that is it. It seems like a different texture. Anyone elso have this problem?

So much to be thankful for

Lilo: It must be turkey day again soon, there’s a headless bird sitting on ice in the bathtub.

Rocky: Maybe it’s for us? I like turkey!

Lilo: No dummy, it’s for the humans. They’ve barricaded the bathroom, so we can’t go in there. But maybe we’ll get the giblets again this year! They’re the best part anyway...

Rocky: Why do the humans only eat turkey once a year?

Lilo: Probably because it’s such an ugly bird, and it takes forever to pluck the feathers… Continue

Hi everyone Willson was the happiest doodle in town last night I bought Home Karen, I picked her up in Appleton WI

Do you have tons of silly nicknames for your Doodle?

We do. And I'm guessing we're not the only ones. Here's what we routinely call Mazie: Maze, Mazie Doodle, the Mazinator, Mazelah, Munchkin, Moo-Moo, Crazy Mazie, Lazy Mazie, Mazie-Doodle-Half-a-Poodle. Come on, guys, 'fess up! What do you call your Doodles besides their "given" names?

Lots of fun today

The temperature today was a beautiful 44 so Wilson and I had a great day with our walk, then this afternoon was the best, he went over to play at Bell's house, and they were playing so nicely, then Abbey the Lab peeked its head outside, well Wilson ran right over and waited in front of Abbey's door to see if she can come and play, It was so cute, well Abbey did come out and play and they ran and ran, but all of a sudden Bell started to bark Wilson didn't know what to do he had two friends… Continue

Sleep? What does that mean??? -- Day 3 with Camden

I've been up since 5am to relieve DH from puppy duties - I think he was up from the time I passed out (around 12 or 1am). Sound familiar? Camden is 8 weeks and came home on Friday night. It's Sunday morning and he is now sleeping at my feet - interesting to watch Camden decide whether to go back to his "bed" and continue sleeping with DH or come out to the living room and sleep at my feet.

Baby Camden has a crate in our bedroom. He goes in willingly and is very comfy in his "bed" -… Continue

10 weeks

A 12 week old golden retriever puppy (named Wally) joined our puppy class today and Oliver was absolutely smitten. He likes all of the other puppies in class, but he had a difficult time paying attention today since all he wanted to do was play with this other puppy that looked so similar to himself!

Our teacher decided to use Oliver for an exercise on how to teach them to walk on a loose leash (i.e. they don't PULL you, there is always slack in the leash). Although Oliver… Continue

Healthy as a horse--only slightly smaller.

Rosco and I had a lovely day today :-)

First, we got to meet with Trasa and her almost 11 week old labradoodle puppy, Nouli. I was a little concerned about how Rosco would play with such a tiny puppy... But he did well. Nouli is a doll and I feel like I'm getting a glimpse of Thule at that age (we got her at 11 months). Nouli might even end up a little bit scruffier then Thule.

Rosco initially ignored Nouli after… Continue
