Last Thursday I dropped Rooney off at his pet sitter for his first ever overnight. I needed to fly early on Friday to help my daughter pack up her home as she is relocating to Atlanta. I planned to fly home today, Monday. I cried when I dropped Rooney off, I knew he would be happy with Linda - he stays during the day sometimes if I golf but I'd never left him for a night let alone 4 nights. We had our daughters doodle Marley for 4 days and that makes 3 doodles running around. Marley is almost 3 yrs old and about 80 pds, Murphy is 2 next week and 66 pds and Bella the baby is 5 months old and about 40 pds. They all play very well together, but there is a lot of wrestling and play biting going on all day. They all love to be around me when I'm home so I was having to watch where I walked constantly. It surprised me how much more commotion one more doodle in the house…

It has been a week with Eli. All I can say is he is such a sweet heart! He went to the Vet on Wednesday. His weight was up from 33p (on Monday) to 37p. I went through some stuff to get him wormed. The 1st sample I brought in came up clean. I could see the Tape worms so I knew he had them. Friday, I brought in another sample, I made sure there were worms in that sample....CAME up clean! I told the Tech, not possible I brought a sample that had worms in it! I know what Tape worms look…

DH thinks Im crazy spending so much time here on Doodle Kisses. I spend all day at work chatting to people about their dogs and cats, and helping them with issues such as diet, nutrition, training, tough toys, chews etc etc etc the list goes on. Then I come home and read the same stuff online!

Wow--does time fly! I can't believe the puppies will be here in three weeks! Lyric's appetite has returned and she is eating well now. When she lies down or sits back on the couch, she has quite the little belly on her! It's all very exciting.

I am embarassed to say I have the Wellness Plan at Banfield, long story having to do with ear infections and it has probably really saved me about $1500.00 in the last year with all the visits for chronic problems, but it is a chain and some people have had good and some bad experiences with them. I was at the dentist the other day and thinking about gagging. It occurred to me that my dogs don't gag, even when I put pills so far back on their tongues I'm practically touching their stomachs. So I wondered if they have a uvula. It is a fleshy piece of soft tissue that hangs down from the soft palate and it is for many people one of the culprits that cause gagging when touched. He does not retrieve and he eats grass!

We finally started taking Ollie out since he is done with most of his shots and the vet gave him a go ahead. He absolutely loves going to the park. It’s only been two days, but I can’t find any fleas on Traveler or on my socks after the ‘white sock test.’ This is the first time in several months that I haven’t been able to find a single flea, and I’ve tried Frontline Plus, Advantix, Nature’s Guardian, flea powder and comb and a flea bath. Some of these have definitely lowered the flea population, but that’s the best result I could get. I could always find a few fleas.

Four years ago DH and I felt as if our hearts shattered when we lost our 18 year old cat and 15 year old dog on the same day. We still had our current cat Amber at the time but I think we both silently vowed never to let another dog into our hearts again. It was too painful to lose them.
