Proposed Mastectomy Law Change
(written by a surgeon);
I'll never forget the look in my patient’s eyes when I had to tell them
they had to go home with the drains, new exercises and no breast. I
remember begging the doctors to keep these women in the hospital
longer, only to hear that they would, but their hands were tied by the
insurance companies.
So there I sat with my patient giving them the instructions they
needed to take care of…

And suddenly I'm a bundle of nerves. About the silliest of stuff! Sitting here thinking about where I should have Seamus when I'm going about my day: taking care of the kids, working, cooking, cleaning, yada yada yada (with me, in the crate, etc.)...why can't I remember what we did when Tucker was a puppy??? =S Such a silly thing to worry about....
So excited to bring him home...our son will be so surprised (we've been telling him it will be NEXT weekend)!!! And I know the nerves…

My surgery came through miraculously. It was a lower back lumbar L-4/L-5 fusion with lots of other descriptive words which only my wife, a retired nurse, understands.
My doctor, Choll Kim, MD, who is in charge of the Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery Center at Alvarado Hospital did a wonderful job. I had surgery on the afternoon of May 5th (Cinco de Mayo) and I was out of bed walking the next morning and was released from the hospital at 3 PM on May 6th; 24 hours after…

I have to just tell you how nice it is to have my second doodle - as fisty as she is - even with my sleepless nights. The weather is getting nicer outside in WI and the sun comes up outside my kitchen window. Every morning I feed the doods and put them outside and check doodlekisses. I can see them as I sit at my computer. Every morning they take their nap all snuggled together in the grass with the sun coming up behind them. I'd post another pic but I think you've seen so many. It's just so…

Can anyone give me advice as to why and what to do when my 12-week-old pup jumps up and down and tries to bite?

One early morning, Charlie and I took a long walk around the neighborhood. The sun was starting to come out, and it looked as it was going to be a nice sunny spring day.
When we were almost home, she decided to stop and sit in a middle of the street.
She tilted her head this way and that, looked at this tree, and gazed at that yard.
She was watching all of these birds starting their day.
I wanted to rush her as I had to get ready for work, but I…

It's new picture day and we are so excited! We also learned that our puppy will be home just in time for Father's Day on June 12th! Perfect timing as we move to our new home on June 1st. In the pictures today personalities are starting to show. We think they are adorable and are looking forward to learning which one is ours.…

This is getting ridiculous. I am going to go broke buying TP. Why is it so appealing? Is it really that fun? Apparently..... Rose (our 5 month old GD) has ripped at least one role apart every day for the last four days. I ALWAYS close the bathroom doors. She has now learned to open them. I ALWAYS keep it put up. Yesterday the kids left it on the counter. Her newest trick is taking it OFF THE HOLDER! No joke, she pulls on it with her mouth until it pops off and then has a great time shredding it…

For those of you with only 1 dog and thinking about adding another...a little reality check :-) In the list of pros and cons to a multi-dog household...one of the cons is "more poop to pick up."
Well I recently calculated exactly what this means for my 2 labradoodles + a border collie and here is the math:…

Holy cow! I feel like I've been on a GD crash course with all the information found on this site! I'm almost finished with "The Art of Raising a Puppy" which is an excellent read, btw. I've finished two other quick read training manuals that were just so-so, but I pick up little gems from each one. It's all good.
So, I'm drafting up my plan of attack for when we go to pick up our new little guy. (Can you tell I'm a wee bit obsessed at this point?) We have to drive from Virginia Beach…

After much searching at shelters for a second dog to add to our family, we finally went to a doodle breeder, again.
Our 2 year old goldendoodle sunny is a DREAM, so sweet, smart, amazing with the kids, and hubby likes the not shedding part. well based on timing and price, we ended up with a blonde f1b labradoodle pup that hubby and son picked out. My daughter and I liked all the pups, but my son had an affinity for one, and he is not much of a dog person, so that was it! Well,....... puppy…

We looked out the window the other day and this is what we saw. Later in the day as, we watched, we saw Toby do it again. He just jumped up onto the table from the deck. If we can pass our obedience classes, perhaps agility training is next? :)

We are starting to get cold feet! Ella is such a perfect puppy - are we asking for trouble? We have twin boys (now 29), one is very quiet and was always obedient, the other was an exhausting child. The breeder says that Henry has no issues. It was hard not to compare the boys as they were growing up as they are so different. You love all your children but sometimes don't like them!! Zachary, despite being hyper, is much more sensitive and loving. Marshall , the quiet one, is so considerate and…

Dood! (hahaha) I can't believe that our new little man will be home with us in less than a week. It seems like it was JUST February, and I was wondering how my son was going to make it all the way until May (yeah, and maybe me, too). And now he's coming home next Saturday! All I can say is, it's pays to keep B. U. S. Y. Luckily I've had lots of that, between the rugrats, an influx of projects for work and getting ready for doing this puppy thang again. Amazing what you forget!
And…

We live in NJ. We left home at 130am Friday and arrived at Marissa & Seamus' home in Pittsburgh, daughter & SIL, at 830a. Went to their new home and worked all day. Got up Saturday and drove 2 hours to Edinboro for the Western PA RAW. Had dinner, watched a little TV and when we awoke Sunday morning, Seamus tells me he came down arond 2am, saw his sofa full of bodies and just HAD to take that picture. I just love it.
Notice how…

Bear got his first short haircut friday night. I was a nervous wreck. A month ago I took him into Petco to get his food when I was approached by a groomer. She asked what kind of Doodle he was and played with him for awhile. She told me she grooms about 30 Doodles and would love to be his groomer. I figured it wouldn't hurt to have someone who knew the breed well.
I looked over a ton of pictures online until I found just what I wanted. I brought it with me and she said it would be no…
