Shaker cans. Get a number of empty pop cans.  Put coins or gravel in the cans, place them around the house, if excessive barking happens, warn the barker 'no barking!'  If the barking continues, shake the can just once and say NO BARKING!  If it continues again, walk over to the barking dog and shake the can a few times.  We had a barking dog, and this approach worked.  They don't like it, it's not a fun way to discipline, but we live close to neighbors that we don't want to annoy, and have small grandchildren that don't like to be startled by barking.  After a few go-rounds, it's gotten to where we say 'no barking' once, and if it keeps going we pick up the can (no shaking anymore) and just rattle it a tiny bit while looking at the barker.

I have three Goldendoodles .They all are two years. My middle "child" has decided she needs to bark. All the time, and has a very high pitched bark. She barks at the others ,she barks at nothing. Is it the attention getter??? Any suggestions on how to STOP this barking? I"m ready to buy the no bark collar. But my husband says NO.

I will be taken Banjo and Mandy on their first vacation. We will be travling by car. I was hopeing that someone might know of some good places to stop in Delaware, Maryland, and Virgina. I will be going south on route 13. looking for some place to let them get out and stretch their legs. Does anyone know of any places that we could stop?

Today I blew a shrill whistle if it got out of control and they stopped instantly to see where the sound came from. It got them to stop and redirect...for awhile:)

Well...I guess it's all normal. My 2 have been play fighting and chasing each other for the past 2 hours. Now they're both crashed out on the floor:) They exhaust each other and sleep very well....yay!!!
Izzy, our 10 week old loves to go on attack mode at Lucca our 2 year old!!!!
Comment by Suzann, Rosey & Bandit on December 2, 2010 at 7:40pm
Yes I remember when Bandit squeezed right thru the fence posts and started takin himself for a walk, we live near downtown AA soo I was terrified and Rosey learned to jump that fence, so we had to do a little "landscaping"

So YES we have been to both. Animal Kingdom and Mill Creek. I wonder about Mill Creek in the winter. Over the summer we went there and Rosey decided to befriend a swan and almost got eatin by it. There is a post on my page somewhere... I like AK, but we can choose a time that won't be busy...
Comment by Kimberly Daisy Kalli on December 2, 2010 at 7:25pm
Daisy is very playful, but well socialized with other dogs. She does not go to daycare, but is around other dogs on a regular basis. Our property is 1 acre and a about 1/2 of it is fenced. We have been careful not to let Kalli have full roaming rights yet, because she is small enough to fit through a few spots in the fence. I'm not sure if you've been to either of the dog parks in Saline. They are both fenced. One is small and the other is larger and has water access into the Saline River. We'd love to get together at some point. Maybe Rosey and Bandit could teach Daisy and Kalli some civilized sibling manners. :)

Yep you have doggy daycare right in you house LOL!! Rosey has NEVER hurt Bandit, she is sooo good with other dogs. How socialized was Daisy before Kalli? Did she have playmates or go to daycare? Do you have a fenced in yard? At some point it would great to get together. We have a very small fenced in area. I just learned about a new park tonight that is FENCED! I am going to check it out over the weekend.
Comment by Lee Seidman on December 2, 2010 at 7:08pm
Lexi is our first Doodle, now 2 1/2 has been with us since five weeks and is a love. Eight months ago we adopted Billy, he was four months old, now one year. Lexi and Billy play, run, and playfight all day every day. I was afraid at first, Billy is 70lbs and Lexi is 37lbs. We just let them work it out on their own. Lexi is the Alpha, they are inseperable, follow each other from room to room, play tug of war share food but still growl, bark and nip at each other. Other then being too active for indoor play, they are just being dogs.Fortunately even after banging each other into furniture they have never broken anyything and we do discipline them and put them outside if they get too wild.

Unless the play is viscious, to the point of injury, you have no choice but to let them work it out. Trust me, in time they will. We had a problem with the Doods sharing toys, I have two daughters, both married, one with a baby and they still have problems sharing. You will get thru it. I have videos on my page of them playfighting.
