Suzann, Yes, that looks familiar. In fact, the puppy looks just like Kalli. :) I will try to post a video tomorrow. I just finally got them settled down. Neither one of them seems to mind the biting, but it gets really rowdy and I get nervous.

We just added our second 2 months ago. She is now 4 1/2 months and our first, Murphy is 2 yrs old. The first few weeks it was a little scary as I felt certain she would get hurt with all the play fighting, but now that she is about 16 pds heavier than when we got her, (19# then, 35 # now) she looks a lot less fragile and I just let them play until it starts to look too fierce to me and then I break it up. I agree with letting them work it out and set their own boundries, but we are still there to protect them and they do get caught up in the fighting and it gets a little out of control. 9 weeks is still a baby, so I would suggest you go with your gut, and if it looks too rough to you, then you are probably right and should intervene. I would just hate to have a puppy get hurt, not only for their sake, but the idea of the vet bill and recovery time is a bit scary to me.

Kim- can you post a video? Biting is part of their play and communication. Here are some pics... look familiar??

There was just a post on what the biting meant on certain parts of the body.. I will try to find it..

Same here. We had our trainer to the house on Sunday after a week of craziness. She suggested a loud clap for the first 2 tiems of overly aggressive play. 3rd tiem, to take the older pup to a time out for 30 seconds where he could see what was going on but not participating. It worked really well for a few days but seems to be escalating again. I can't bring the pup out with the older one becasue he awkwardly lunges toward him and I am afraid he may hurt him. The little guy is feisty nd barks and nips at his face casuing him to nip back.
Mornings seem gentler with them seeming to enjoy each other but as the day wears on it gets to be a constant referee game.
Everyday is a bit better but not wuick enough!

It seems like they spend all of their time together biting at each other. A few of our friends who have 2 dogs said it looks like very normal puppy play to them. We've never had 2 dogs at the same time before, so maybe I'm just not used to it. Daisy is not aggressive at all, but plays hard. Kalli starts the biting business, but I'm still afraid she will get hurt since she is only 9 weeks.

I might need a doggy referee. Yikes! When are they gonna start snuggling each other peacefully? Wishful thinking... I know.

My puppy's breeder told me that he probably has giardia since he has had extremely loose stools since we got him 4 weeks ago. I've fed him Orijen with pumpkin and yogurt and no treats. She had her vet call in a prescription for antibiotics for Owen. Now I've read more about giardia and am wondering if Kona should be treated, too. Also, what is this about spraying the area with bleach water. My breeder didn't mention this. Any ideas?
